How To Sing Like Stevie Nicks - Fleetwood Mac - Sara Loera - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
Stevie Nicks holds the unique distinction of being the only female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once as a member of Fleetwood Mac and once as a solo artist.
Today I'll be exploring what it takes to sing like Stevie with the help of our own KTVA student Sara Loera.
With her bohemian vibe, Stevie's music was characterized by her caprino vibrato which defined her unique style and sound.
Known for her incredible storytelling, Stevie had the ability to suck you into her story with her distinct use of phrasing and we'll explore how she uses it very differently from other singers.
In addition to looking at Sara's performances, we'll also take a look at a duet she and I did together of the unique collaboration of Stevie Nicks and Don Henley.

She's got the "complete" package.
Thet eyes, the moves, the character and obviously the voice.
For me too one of the most important distinctive features of Stevie Nicks is her storytelling. Of course she also has a unique vocal style. But her ability to sing like she tells the story right to you is something else. Like she establishes a direct connection to her listeners.
Been following Sara for a while now and iam amazed she hasn't been signed yet! ?! She is a gem 💎

This guy just OOZES fire sign energy. Her rendition of "Leather and Lace" gave me chills. She has a milder (? what's the word?) vibrato than Stevie. Cheers

I didn't hear crisp articulation from the lady. Some lyrics were "slurred" or blended. IMHO. Stevie had great articulation and such a unique voice. No one comes close to Stevie.
@@unciamajor I always thought that Stevie slurs everything. Sara's rendition was the first time I ever understood all the words. Until now, I now I thought it was "take from me my NAME" for example.
Sara is amazing. She sings like an angel and sounds like Stevie also. Great job!

Wow, have you been reading my mind? I felt the way she sings her songs is as much about feelings as it is about singing a song! I love this girl and her amazing body language she uses to express how she feel's about each and every song she sings!
That was the breakthrough of Sinatra, too. He practiced breath control so his phrasing me everyone think he was singing directly and only to them! Especially coming out of the totally STYLIZED Big-Band Era singers who had to match the distinctive "sound" of the Bandleader (e.g., Glenn Miller). But once, Sinatra paired up with NELSON RIDDLE (band "follows" the singer and NEVER PLAYS THE MELODY, Sinatra's songs put the words and his feelings bare out there for all to see! Result: virtually every single singer for the next decade became a Sinatra imitator: Dean Martin, Perry Como, Al Martino, Steve Lawrence, Frankie Avalon, even Hawaiian Don Ho!
I can't believe she had to work at it - she seems so natural. However, I have asked Sara to work with me so I am really glad that she has had to learn. I think that makes the best instructor. But what I love about Sara is her ability to portray emotion. I have cried so hard while listening to her sing a sad love song. She really gets to me. I love that you bring up Russel Crow - he gets to me too!

I grew up listening to Fleetwood Mac and then Stevie as a solo.she has such a unique voice and really paved the way for further female artist.

My first memory of Stevie wasn't with Fleetwood. It was a duet with Tom Petty. It wasn't until later that I realized she was in Fleetwood Mac. But man did I fall in love with her in the Stop Dragging My Heart Around video on MTV back in the day lol
