      I have a feral cat I feed. I just notices a couple of weeks ago her tummy looked huge. Three days ago her tummy looked normal. She must have kittens somewhere. I dont know who to call or what to do. Every day around 3 I give her fresh bowls of food and water. If she comes earlier, I hurry to get her food ready. She began sleeping on my front porch as a baby with her baby siblings. It looks like she is the only survivor. Can anyone tell me what to do? This is a very small town off 95 in South Carolina. I have looked up every rescue but none are close at all.

      Call the humane society or your nearest ASPCA or a vet. The vet may be able to give you a trap but you need to find out if she really did have kittens and where they are. Catching mom won't do any good if you can't find the babies. If your able to touch mom and if you have the money buy a little camera and get her a collar and then maybe you can recognize where she's going from the camera, it would have to be a live feed to your phone, tablet or computer. You may just have to follow her from a distance, so as not to spook her, but also record where she's going just in case you loose track of her. You might just be able to pick her trail up later or the next day. Make sure you do it at the same time of day she did it before. The babies usually eat every two hours so that may be easier to follow her a few times a day, if she leaves every 2-4 hrs everyday. My local humane society paid for a vet so I could take my brothers sick puppy to see the vet, unfortunately we had to put him down bc he was to sick to help. I hope this helps in your efforts to help this cat. God bless and have a good evening.

I experienced it too as my city was in the path. No one could forget the day of the eclipse and it was an important event. On April 9th it was already done. Perhaps she meant to say the day after or she simply had her dates wrong. I'm sorry I'm just a stickler about things like that. It's not the end of the world I'm just pointing it out. People often don't pay attention and can distort things as this was an important/epic day. Also, grammar and spelling (not here) but I realized that I can't correct people on that anymore. A very beautiful story though and I cried.

    We've been feeding and TNRing the feral cats in our neighborhood for over 20 years. Some were friendly, most were not, but they all get warm and dry places to sleep in the winter. Currently we're actively caring for three, one who's been queen of the yard for 12 years.

    Yes, if you know cats, Mister Turnip did love you with those blue eyes....they completely changed from fear and misery to affection from afar. I have cared for feral cats and eventually they did come to be attached to me and allow some petting, but it's limited before they run off - but they all come back every day. I live rural and it's heartbreaking to see how more cats show up and I can't care for them all. I wish people were more caring like this wonderful lady or at least feed them & give them alternative bedding locations that are more safe & dry (totes work just fine with straw). I won't allow cats in the house anymore but they have a nice safe porch & barn to sleep in & keep the rodents down in return.

      Tolerable???
      He looked and seemed very happy with his super luxurious and safe, secure life which this empathetic lady provided him with.
      7 years is a very long time for an animal like a cat. It would be about half his entire life. He hit the jackpot! All those other feral cats that he'd once lived with would have been green with envy if they could have seen his lifestyle. But most of them wouldn't have lived to see it, as depending upon their living conditions, adult feral cats often have a far shorter lifespan.

    • @SY-ok2dq
      @SY-ok2dq Месяц назад

      Forgot to add, he didn't really trust her at first. He just felt he had no other options and was forced to move somewhere where the aggressive feral cats would never dare to follow, and this woman's yard was what he came across.
      Also, if she had cats at the time, he'd probably observed that she looked after them, seen her body language, seen that the cats were in excellent condition and were not aggressive and a threat to him. He probably figured there's enough space there (and hiding spots) that he could avoid any interactions (unlike how it was with the cat colony) and stay safe.

    In addition to being very sweet, this was very funny. But I was sad he never got to trust to the full extent. What a wonderful woman.

    Feral cats make themselves known when they're hungry and struggling and need help. I walk around my neighborhood and feed stray cats since they simply cannot survive on their own. Hopefully, you'll do the same and help. Your small act of kindness will make a profound difference in the lives of these animals in need. Saving lives is definitely a collective effort. Many thanks to animal rescuers and protectors.

    Omg, my eyes are leaking, they must be broken ❤. Thank you for loving this little soul. My former feral cats are my family, one’s fluffy butt is against my cheek as I type this. ❤

    We also have a feral cat we have been feeding for over a year. He is white and slate gray. Very pretty. Bought him a heated cat house last November. Sometimes I sit in the garage and read. He will come in and lay close to my feet….but never let me pet him. When I talk to him he will meow back occasionally. I look forward to seeing him everyday. I have fell hopelessly in love with him!!!!😊

    Oh, I'm so sorry that Mr. Turnip died just a couple of weeks ago. You, your steadfast love and care, and the gentle kindness of your presence gave him a much better life than he had before crossing your path. Thank you for sharing your story. There is no cat that is "just a cat". Each and every one of them---all animals, actually---are individual and precious souls.

    Aww. I'm glad he at least had someone looking after him and giving him good food. He knew love and comfort and safety in his last years.
