Using 2D lines to make 3D shapes goes back to my CAD days and the only way I can enjoying modeling the base of an object. Love it.

Watching this felt like all my shortcuts in blender are duplicated here..must try. Even the hardops and mesh machine shortcuts are quite the same damn

I truly appreciate your efforts in introducing us to this remarkable program, which brings a distinct style and a new level of progress to the world of 3D design. Having previously been immersed in Blender's HardOps, transitioning to this platform seemed like it would be a seamless journey, but as it turns out, it's not always as straightforward as one might expect.
One notable difference I've encountered is the approach to manipulating points and lines, especially when compared to the ease of handling surfaces and ngons in Blender. At times, working with this new program feels like stepping into a dream, full of exciting possibilities. But every so often, I find myself entangled in intricacies that can be quite perplexing.
Thankfully, your instructional videos have been an absolute lifesaver in resolving many of these challenges. Your clear and concise explanations have shed light on the intricacies of this software, unraveling its mysteries and making the learning process significantly smoother.
    Good work and thanks again.

      Hi Dina,
      I hope that's your name.
Thanks for taking the time to write such a kind feedback and sharing your experience.
Blender definitely is a strong program as well, and it's hard to compare Plasticity & Blender, but for such hard surface modeling Plasticity is becoming the go-to software.
It's so fun, so intuitive, so creative!:)

Is there a way to move things more precisely than in the video? for example at 12:13 the "inner circle" was moved around the center, but i didn't see any snap to center of the "bigger circle".

I really want to like this software, but it seems that once you've built a complicated object, you really can't go back and alter dimensions, which means if your client or art director has changes, you're out of luck. Am I wrong?

    Nice tutorial.
One question, is there a way to do things non-destructively? For instance, instead of deleting the curves you use for subtracting, can you hide them instead, in case you want to adjust them later?
    Thanks.

at 2:33 you get your point to snap to the older point by holding shift. does this still work in version 1.33 ? because it does not work for me - I simply don't get a purple snap line.. no idea what I am doing wrong..

At 8.20 the "W" difference option isn't working for me, the square solid just stays blue. I get an error warning, "operation has no effect" even when I try on some separate test solids. To get Boolean/difference to work I have to select the main solid first, but I can't edit and taper the cutting shape either way.

Plasticity is great, however, I really get stuck on how you can export a low poly mesh. I understand you can adjust the settings when you export the obj file, but maybe I'm doing something wrong with it.

7:59 after the difference boolean, i only get movement handles, red green blue. i dont get the white circle option to scale the face. what are some possible causes of that? the official plasticity wiki doesnt even cover how to scale faces/edges. 😂

Is there a faster way to create the classic Fusion-style "pill" shape than using 2 circles and rectangle and trimming bits away? By pill i mean a rectangle with semicircular ends.

So,Polygon is not the best way to create hardsurface ,right?

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  11 месяцев назад +1

It depends on what you exactly need for what.
There is no such think as "better" or "worse"
I personally find Plasticity is really really a good option for hard surface modeling, especially if one doesn't care about "perfect" topology and stuff..
But again it depends very much how & where you will use the model.
