    Everything that is in plasticity has been for AGES in Rhinoceros 3d. The only problem was - people were scared to use Rhinoceros because of the intimidating UI.

      User experience and minimalism is everything.

    I'll definitely have to test Plasticity (once my daughter is off my computer 🤪). I like that it seems focused on visual design, rather than 7th-degree curvature continuity and measuring the manufacturability of surfaces like Alias Studio offered. (I've worked in Alias Studio, Maya, etc.)
    Does it have any polygonal tools? I really liked how Lightwave 3d would generate polygonal surfaces using birail sweeps and had many other polygonal modeling tools which are usually constrained to the NURBS world.
    Also, does it have a good selection of tesselation algorithms? I remember 3DSMax offering a good handful of tesselation algos like Cord Length, Tangent Projection, etc.
    I'll be testing it's ability to project a curve onto a surface and trim the surface at that curve, etc. for creation of things like car fenders (visually, not for a steel roll-former) 😁

    • @nikita.kapustin
      @nikita.kapustin  10 месяцев назад +1

    What's the topology like if you export it to a poly software?
    How good is it when working with actual dimensions for making stuff from a drawing?
    It seems a bit like "My First Parametric Modeller" to me, as someone who was taught Solidworks and who taught himself Blender.
    I feel like if you're doing parametric modelling, the constraints, information and buttons should be there as clear and permanent as possible as they all have a purpose, dimensions, angles etc.
    I think its great though for people who want to make more complex objects but cant quite wrap their head around poly modelling in 3D space.

    • @nikita.kapustin

      Topology is fine. Never had a problem so far with it.

    • @leatherworkstation
      @leatherworkstation 11 месяцев назад

      @nikita.kapustin that's good about the topology, because sometimes I need to make something in Blender, and I know I could make it in a fraction of the time in Solidworks, so I do, but then I have to export an ugly complex STL. It might be a good intermediate between CAD and mesh modelling if it has a good suite of import and export options.
      Also for 3D printing, it'd be good if you could import a faceted mesh, convert it and export it smoothed out as a .STEP or something.

    Hello Nikita fantastic video and work.. I've been watching a ton of Plasticity videos lately and I'm wondering if it's for me. I'm a designer that want to work with 3d printed jewelry and figurines.

    Over the years I've learned Modo a bit.. Blender.. and Zbrush.
    My idea was to have a workflow from Plasticity do Zbrush if needed.. for detailed models but more precise.. like stylized geometric skulls for example. I haven't seen a Plasticity model like a skull.. but the model on this video seems near enough to me to see that plasticity can handle that well.. so I won't have to use rhino or fusion 360 for precision on curved shapes.
    So my idea was to ditch blender.. start a stylized model on plasticity.. and go to zbrush with it if the model in question has detailed sculpted parts somewhere.. then just 3d print the model without having to retopo anything.
    Sounds.. doable? a sane/good idea?
    Thanks for the help!

      SW, NX and so on are too heavy and especially NX, TOO expensive. I do not want to build aeroplanes.
      I would believe your comment if I wouldn't know Shapr3D.
      Shapr3D, actually is exactly this. Plasticity + History + Parameters, super modern and easy to use. And because of this fact, no one can tell me it's not possible and plasticity would not be plasticity anymore if it adds this features.
      The only big bad thing about Shapr3D is the subscription payment. This is a no-go..
      I have a more or less professional background with C4D and it's modelling part. And I simply cannot imagine how I would create something without parameters. This is the absolute fundamental element of such applications. C4D on the other hand is polygonal and you have of course not such abilities like you have them in plasticity.
      Here are also a lot of people who ask for this functions. So it can't be that unimportant..

    • @griffithe2438
      @griffithe2438 11 месяцев назад

      @@TAH1712 I think the people are looking for a simple to use application that also can be available for 'normal mortals' : )
      The price of 100/300$ is a big deal. So on this point you are absolutely right. Such applications for such a price are very limited on the market. And that's what makes plasticity even more interesting. NX is not affordable (>20.000$ as far as I know). But actually, if not the subscription, I would go for Shapr3D. Adobe started with this subscription sh!t and now every second company do the same, but not plasticity. Cloud based solutions like F360, same story. Just no.
      Check the Video: "Launching in 2023: History-Based Parametric Modeling in Shapr3D". Before it also wasn't possible in Shapr3D. Same thing for Plasticity we need. Maybe I've missed something, but it's not possible in plasticity, is it?
      Hands down, the modeling abilities of plasticity are just incredible and awesome. Boolean operations in polygonal applications like C4D or Blender on surfaces are a pain in the as*. Such things are simply not possible.
      History/Parameters. Example: I want a tool that allows me to create a table desk of exact size, let's say 160x80cm, with 4 holes on each side of it. The 4 holes have a size of 5cm (the size should be changeable any time). The holes have to be set with a constrain to the edges of this table of 2cm. If I made a change (in the history of the elements) to the desk, let's say, to 200x80cm. All of the constrained elements (our 4 holes) should be adapted to this change automatically. Same for the fillet operations. Instead of 5mm for the holes, I need the ability to change 'em to 4mm or 6mm any time I need it. Comparing to the operation Plasticity is capable of, it cannot be that complicated to implement. But as far as I know it's not possible actually. Sorry if I'm wrong.
