This motorcycle came on the scene about 7 years ago. We were waiting from a long time and finally, most of you guys, include me were a bit disappointed. Big and heavy bike was not what we expect. The legendary Yamaha Tenere 750, 5 times Dakar winner, has nothing common with the one we saw. It is coming with totally new face, powerful 1200cc engine, which delivers 116 H.P. The seat is double now and the chain is replaced with drive shaft. It has upside down, full adjustable suspension, ABS, traction control, 23 litters tank and nice windscreen. All of that is not bad at all, but the weigh rise to 261kg. This immediately put this motorcycle to a different category “ Heavy travel enduro” , not in the one we all desire “ Adventure motorcycle”. Anyway I tested and I have to confess that I was nicely surprised. Except the weigh I liked anything else.

Very good review my friend, I enjoy your style of telling the viewers the facts and the high points of the bike. You talk about info that people can really use without a lot of extra talk that we don’t need. Also you rode on pavement and rough roads to show the capability of the bike. Excellent! After many years on Harley-Davidson this Yamaha is light to me!

It's an excellent road bike , almost effortless , turns exceptionally well and controlled , handles strong winds. And best off all its so comfortable for all day riding. Excellent value I reckon

Years after this review the bike has not changed much and still represents excellent value and reliability. Great bike for long distance touring, despite the weight. Not too much electronics and these ridiculous TFT screens. Good review!

Great bike. I've taken it on single tracks and it did well. Yes, to pick it up is difficult. Then again I'm not a small guy. You can go most places.
I took delivery of a 2012 on 16 Aug 2019, in white with red and black. The color really pops. Love it to bits. Gonna miss my XT660R though

Just a small observation, as an owner of the bike, is good to know in general that has integrated braking system, which means when you pull the hand lever it will send some braking power to the rear. The rear brake, however, is independent until the force on the peg is harder than the hand lever. Its a heavy bike, I guess that is why they think at the braking system; it can easily be driven to soft-medium gravel roads. A lot of accessories are optional and with a already big pricetag it makes it very expensive at the end. I really appreciate all the testing which you have made so far. Excelent reviews and I hope that you can provide more details for all motorcycles.
