Rider comfort is an important issue for rider safety ❗
& can save your life.... Having 12" Ape Hangers on my old Harley surely helped save my life, as kept my arse on the seat & not thrown over the top in my accident. A semitrailer ran a red light 🤬 & I survived, so as soon as I purchased my "17 FXDB streetbob I changed the bars to Factory 47 16"Marlo bars..... I love the aggressive look & mostly enjoy feeling safer, life behind bars❣️

Jess you and shadetree have inspired me to start riding, hopefully I'll be in a seat in a couple weeks. It's also so cool to see you riding roads around me, hopefully I get to run into ya one day!
As an established MC rider for over 43 years, off road, sport, tour bikes et When you first start out with getting your hands and YOU on your first bike..😗 Take your time on deciding WHAT bike, CCs, WHAT YOU are going to use it for on a basis of HOW much ie touring, local trips, off road et et ?? TYRES! For example and OFF road tyre is NOT the same as a road tyre general use et BAGGAGE.. I ALWAYS went for clip on, easy remove YET secure, baggage. FAIRING?? 👀My professional long distance city to city courier work was vastly different re the machine, wind resistance, all weathers protection against the bike I used for trips to the beach with my girl on the back et ? 👀There are loads of RUclips vids from experienced riders et for newbies et We ALL had to start somewhere BUT these days UNLIKE when I first started out, there is a wealth of wisdom available SO slowly slowly catchee monkey as they say..👀 Lastly as our girl points out, a good rapport with the dealer / servicing department is what any MC rider should aim for ESPECIALLY as a newbie.. BUT! DO YOUR RESEARCH and avoid the ones who takes the bucks but ultimately don't give a **ck?! 😗DON'T be put off by the size of the bike to start with. 👀When I went from a 500cc to my first 750cc it was a beast of a machine.. whoa... OMG!! BUT after a couple of months, an experienced rider becomes one with the machine.. free flowing, effortless and immersed in the pleasure.. I've since ridden over 1000cc machines ALL of them beasts in their own beauty BUT ! Choose the bike that suits YOUR PREFERENCES, YOUR NEEDS, YOUR BUDGET!

Hope the bars end up working for you comfort wise. In 2012 I went to the HD 10” mini apes on my bike which is probably what your stock bars were. They’re very comfy for me but everyone is different. My arms are short so I needed to kick them back toward me a tiny bit. You may end up having to do that too. And no shame in not doing your own work. I’m a girl who likes to save money whenever possible, I have a garage and my own tools and am blessed to have the skills to do my own work. So far have saved many thousands by doing my own mods and bike services. I rather just go out to my garage and get it done when I have the time rather than having to make an appointment. I understand not everyone has the skills to do their own and that’s fine as long as the necessary service doesn’t get neglected it’s all good. I have the 12” on mine and love them. You are right. It will take some getting use to. But it has to be about comfort. I am much more comfortable.
I absolutely love the mini apes that came with my 2020 Harley Davidson 1200 Iron. It is really more comfortable than most other handle bars I've had on my other bikes in the past with the exception of the 2009 Kawasaki 900 Vulcan Classic I used to have. The bars I had on that bike was extremely comfortable.
Wow, that’s creative, you came up with a solution. I had those fused bars in 14 inch. Now I have L. A.Choppers Hammereds 14 in. I hope those work for you.
Bars look good! I went with 12” KST Bison Bars on my Street Glide Special back when I had it. The bars did feel good but they always vibrated my hands to sleep! Hopefully the handlebar vibration doesn’t put your hands to sleep like they did mine.

I just installed kst straight jacket bars on my 16 rgs in 14", completely changed the feel of the bike compared to those wheelbarrow bars. If you wanna change them up after the trip, I'd recommend going 12" so you can angle the entire bar back toward you so you're not stretched out. Most of the kst bars are narrowed compared to harley bars so it'll bring your hands a little closer together which also inspires confidence on leaning the bike. I've found the wider the bar the more my shoulder muscles ache after a long ride. Just food for thought. Always love the videos. Cheers
While in motion, the image stabilization looks fine. Sitting and at idle, you can see it. Not the end of the world. I hope they do the trick for your comfort and control. Best wishes on this trip. Definitely let us know if there are any issues with the new bars/riding position over longer distances.
They look great. I have 10’s also and adjusted towards me every so slightly for comfort. Great job though!

Looks MUCH BETTER !!! Are you gonna put the hand guards back on ?? I went from stock bars on 2020 Fatboy 114 to 14 " apes so I remember the learning curve takes a while.... but now I LUV how it handles much better than the stock. Others also said at the higher handle bar levels my arms would "go to sleep" but I have NOT found that to be a problem with Cruise Control to relieve the arms occasionally. And I found with the apes I can make tight turns EZr. !! THANKS for sharing !!!
Love the new bars! I had to show my husband how you got them to the dealership. He mentioned a couple of guys he's seen riding with tires strapped to them. No sooner did he finish his sentence and you mention carrying a tire!! James seems like such an awesome tech, glad you have him.

Yeah, I like the feel of the type of bars you had installed, more than the original style. It's more comfortable on my wrists. Steering is easier too. I may have fueled at that Pilot truck stop driving semi. I now fuel exclusively at Love's bc they have the best rewards/points...👍😺
Just added 12 min apes to my 2021 StreetGlide and HD split mirrors. Had my Dealership Miracle City HD do the installation. It came out fantastic!

I know you probably get a lot of advice but. KST Custom pathfinders are the BEST bars for a Roadglide. Two piece design so SUPER adjustable and SUPER easy to install. Originally went with the H-D chiseled low bars and they looked awesome but just not that comfortable for my 5’6” body. Got the 12” Pathfinders and was able to dial them in perfectly. You can thank me later lol

I got ROX bar raisers that raised my bars 2” and added another pivot point to let me adjust the bar’s position.

First thing I changed on the Street Bob years ago, was the bars. The curved mini's that were installed, just looked bad, and felt bad. I went with the 13" chrome "Chiseled" style. Night and day in handling and looks.
On the Softail Custom, I found the wide Beach Bars were initially not liked at all...until I put enough miles on to really start liking them, a lot! Ok, it took like 3 blocks to change my mind! I also never liked baggers and crash bars and windshields and big fat seats for two and floor boards. However, this bike just sang to me her siren song, and I fell in love with all of her!

Oh...not an advertisement...Look into MotoHorns for a real horn that is real loud. I've put them on both bikes (two on the Softail), and both cars (two in the 4Runner)! People on the next block will hear you honk!

Like suspension adjustment and sags, you do know there’s a limit of safety you can extend the bars upright until it is no more safe to do so.
An experienced rider will automatically find their comfort with each handlebar adjustment and not have to go to a learning curve. Maybe a slight, but it shouldn’t be days. Possibly couple of hours.
Also the whole idea of these bars upgrade is to make you sit upright on the motorcycle and not have bad postures. Such bad postures from stock handlebars also gave you major tailbone back pain.
Last is you could have just adjusted your stock bars a little upright instead of changing the whole thing. Eventually you will find your comfort zone using your new bar at the same height your body desires for them to be comfortable. And that can be done on the stock bars with just a little push upright.
But hey I enjoyed watching this vid, because I wanted to see someone else other than myself on a 12 inch bars. Honestly I just want to upgrade to them for the looks. Not mainly for comfort because again, the stock bars on mine have already been adjusted to my comfort.
I enjoyed the video. I just bought a 2018 Road Glide in Wicked Red and LOVE it only had 2400 miles on it. So much on RUclips on custom stuff. Maybe I will see you on the road somewhere. And your bike looks amazing. Safe riding Beautiful

I agree about the factory bars. The ones that came on my heritage classic. Should be on a sportster or smaller bike.
Camera angle is good, those new bars look amazing. So much more comfortable. You're going to love them.
I am the same height 5'7" I tried the same bar and pulled them off right away, I needed more pullback on a bar. I ended up going with 12" KST Spearhead bars there a three piece bar very adjustable and I love them.

You find out real quick why the factory love those long bent corners verses the 90 degree corners when start putting handle bars on. Oh yeah, the bars look awesome.

I think they look great. It always takes a bit to get used to new bars but I think you’re gonna love them. Also it might be the camera angle but you might try rotating your controls up a touch might help you with hitting the horn.

I loved mine right from the get-go, mine are somewhat like yours, I have the 12 inch Factory 47 bars, they are more of the meat hook style and I have 2000 miles on them and think they are wonderful.
Nice new addition and look to your Glide. Stay Safe and rubber side down.

Nice bars. Not sure what I want to do fur bars on the 2012 SG I picked up at the beginning on this month. Guess I’ll try to figure that out well I’m on my first ever road trip on a bike.
The bars look great. I did my bars on my Road Glide and it was a “Nightmare”. If the tech says it’s hard, it’s hard.
The new bars look awesome! The angle looks comfortable and I think the sqaure edge look is cool. You might have to get Jordon to shave a bit off the gopro mount so you can move your buttons away from the grips more.
Switch control modules mount flush against a step on the bars. The more narrow ergonomics of the bars, make it seem the controls are in an odd placement.

they look great! nice choice. Also might I add that whenever I've taken my bike for service at the HD Dealer they'll always wash it unlike most of the local mechanics I've gone to which aren't all the much cheaper either.

Hey Jess that will be one of the best up grades you can do to your bike i put 12 in. mini apes on my street glide and i love them really helps on the arm and neck pain that stock bars cause you will be fine with 12 in bars no need to change any cables

Sometimes aftermarket electronics will not work with Harley’s canbus wiring. Always good to give local dealerships business or they will be out of business.

Came upon this as yesterday I got my bike back where the guy raised them for me but without me there. They are now too high for me and my arms are way too extended. I tried to get used to it but I rode it about 300 miles today and it just felt dangerous. I tried to change the clutch location but it was still tough. I think I'm going to try to tilt them back down a bit.

May I ask which windshield are you running? I am interested in these bars, but also interested in the 11" sport flare windshield by Klock Werks. per Klock Werks website the 6" and 9" are the only ones that will work with the HD Chizeled Lo bars which are similar to the Fused Lo bars.

Those are the bars I've been looking on getting, that's what I want my hands a little more forward about where the brake and clutch are. How do you like them?
Bars look good. They look wide like my 12” KST Outlaws. If I was to do it again, I would go with narrower bars. Making tight turns in parking lots is a stretch for me. And I am 5’11”

I've seen some people have bars over there head or almost same level as there chin definitely different. you right that's what mechanics are for a lot tech going on motorcycles.
