Owner here! I totally agree with your assessment of the bike. That being said, I LOVE it. I was never a harley guy. This bike won me over.
This bike has gone on sale already? 🤯
I might go test ride one if that’s the case.
@@Grandmasterjord My bank account suggests it's definitely for sale hahaha
@@motopixels956 😂😂😂
I can’t wait to test ride one!
Still enjoying it pretty well?
@@Grandmasterjord oh yeah! definitely!
Another owner here just had the bike over a month and it's the perfect size for me. My fiance has the new sportster s and he loves that thing to death
not every bike is perfect for everyone. i know they want this to be able to be customized but im glad to se a more honest review than just "this bike is great".
As a newly endorsed rider who hasn't bought her own bike yet - these videos are so important to me. I love your perspective because I've got the same inseam as you, so I know these bikes you try out, will fit me the same. The details of how you feel on the bikes is so helpful! Thank you Jess, and no worries about the tech issues - you're awesome to fill in the blanks!
@@chrismichniewski2562 Louisiana has 'M' endorsement on our licenses, and the courses offer bikes to use.
I would suggest you ride a few bikes before shelling out on any as you might not like the way they ride. Also, check out the Triumph Speedmaster. Its a cracking motorcycle and bested the Sportster S that I rode in October last year...
Buy one thats a perfect choice
Get something smaller, cheaper and more versatile, like Kawasaki Versys 300, Yamaha XT250 or other smaller dualish purpose bike. You will develop better riding skills for much less money.
MT07 is the best starter bike on the market
Been following your channel for quite a while. What great adventures you have had!
Your reviews are frank and honest and that's much appreciated.
I'm not in the market presently for a new motorcycle. I went from Yamaha to Harley and presently
in my retirement I ride a GL1800 Goldwing.
However with this review that you just posted, you were quite literally in my back yard. I'm glad you got to experience the back roads around Santa Barbara. I never take what we have here for granted. Hwy 33 is one we can ride from sunny to snow in the winter! In fact we can ride all the way up to San Francisco on back roads like Hwy 33 and never hit a freeway.
I'm so happy you got to enjoy our back yard. Keep up the great posts on your channel.

Woooo boy that intro was epic! Great video Jess. I appreciate you acknowledging the market for this bike. Just because Harley is innovating doesn’t mean it’s not a Harley. Variety is bueno.
“I don’t know what to tell you guys. I’m just a person that lives in this little screen of yours” 😂😂 im dying! Great video!
I appreciate your honesty with this review. So many people feel that they have to be "nice" when doing a review. I like that you tell what you like and what you didn't like as much.
Great video. I love the B footage at the beginning! Honestly the more you guys talk about this thing, it sounds and almost looks like a Vrod with a smaller engine.
I haven't owned a motorcycle in 40 years (Honda 350), but as I look to retirement I'm seriously thinking about riding again and this bike looks perfect. I went to my local HD dealer and sat on it and it feels perfect for my frame. Since I'm not an old Harley Hog owner I don't care about the sound. I'm going to take the HD riding course next and then probably grab this thing. Thanks for the review!
As a headbanging metalhead motorcyclist, you absolutely NAILED that intro and have me wanting to try something like that now haha! I'm a bit biased for this platform since I'm a very outspoken V-Rod lover/owner, which was more or less the predecessor to the Revolution Max, but this particular machine looks sweet! The Sportster S has impressive specs and all, but the Nightster is badass with the aesthetics! I could see one of these next to my Night Rod Special in the garage for sure.
Out of all the attending motovloggers who’ve released videos yours has been the most informative and enjoyable, whatever your doing to convey the experience it’s working you’re connecting, the others are not.
Really hard to justify the price tag. There's a lot of competition in this category of standards/sport-cruisers with classic looks. Rebel 1100, Bonneville/Bobber/Speedmaster, Z900RS, Scout, etc. all sport better features, performance, handling, and/or price tags. The differences between the Nightster and the Rebel 1100 are so few, that you're essentially paying nearly 50% more just for it to say "Harley-Davidson" on the side.
Gotta say that in the flesh the rebel looks way better. Gonna be more reliable and better built too.
@@ginojardinsolivier4120 There is always few suckers for anything and everything.
There’s just one point I would like to make to the justification of paying more for a Harley. Resale and trade value. I’ve seen a lot of guys trade in their Metrik motorcycles within a year or two and lose half of their value while Harley doesn’t seem to lose near as much. So you may spend 15,000 on a bike like the nightster, in two years later be ready for something bigger and then your value is probably going to be somewhere around 12 to 13,000. You only lost two or $3000 of value whereas a metric bike that you spend $10,000 on is now only worth $5000. So at the end of two years which one really cost more? I still see 20 year old Harley’s worth more than a five year old metric in the same class.
@@dawsonccfc It will be interesting to see if that holds true for the rev max bikes. The street 500 and street 750's didn't hold their value well and the new powerplant is a bit of an unknown quantity in terms of longevity. It's also fair to point out that many metric bikes devalue at much lower rates than 50% in two years.
@@dawsonccfc I see two of my metric bikes 4 and 5 years old listed at dealer for higher price than what I put them on the road for. Of course, they would totally try to rip me off on trade in. I think expectation of resale value is just consolation and justification for paying premium. If you ride a lot and ding it lil here and there, you can't expect much. But, I can see Harley being more emotional purchase than say Honda or Kawasaki. Now, if you want to pile up miles, there is not much to think about which one is more likely to get you there.
You are not wrong about the old sportsters, they are very raw and visceral. Which is why so many love them. And you know it's totally ok that it's not your style. I miss my old sportster all the time. I also am so in love with my 21 RG.
Great video! I had a Vrod Muscle in the past and hated the fuel tank under the seat.. I also had a Sportster 48 that I loved and would still have but hubby and I started doing out of state road trips every summer so I had to get a bigger fuel range bike.
I love how honest you were and I'm so glad I'm not the only one whos feels the same exact way about sportsters. I am excited Harley is taking a step to listen and change things. Some of the challenges you mentioned is the reason I chose to go with Indian instead of Harley.
Some reviewers aren't lying when they say the 2022 Nightster is all plastic. I was checking mine out be of the common Revo electrical issues the PanAm/Nightster/Sportster S seem to be facing.
I almost cried because I felt like I was taking apart an instrument cluster of a car.
Im already not happy with how my dealership dealing with it, if I don't like how they approach if the a check up, I may return it for another bike.
Though it's under a 3 year warranty, I got the bike @36Miles Odo.
I might end up fixing the issue myself (it's just a missing tube line and missing fluids but still)
Super great footage at the opening of this video with the drone footage and all! Good job, Jess!
I recently purchased the special edition. I am a new rider and your review was instrumental in my decision making. I appreciate your review. Thx
I always love the Sportster look, I daily a 02 intruder 1400 with 10in bars and 2in straight pipes 🤘🏼
Great! This new Lunch hour release time is appreciated. Love your videos. Enjoy the editing and the story telling. #OnTheWayTo200K
Recently bought a bagger after years of more "sports" driven riding and I am enjoying the relaxed stature of my bagger, however I also still have my 15 yr old sportsbike w 24cc's more of displacement than this bike that puts out almost twice as much hp w 15 more ft/lbs of torque (as listed) ..... and that's the crux of the Harley situation, until they can technologically move forward they will remain "THE OLD GUYS" bike brand. I am happy to be a part of that group as I am learning the charm Harley brings to the riding experience for sure, Prices for these bikes also trend more towards established (older) customers as comparable bikes from other brands will be (as stated elsewhere in the comments) 4 - 5K less for a MORE capable bike unfortunately. I am hopeful for them to continue taking steps towards catching up w the market because we the riders still need them in the bike mix !
Enjoying your take on riding and your experience as I am suggesting your videos to new riders and more importantly female riders that are thinking about trying a motorcycle for the first time - keep up the great work Jess !!
You are correct--the Nightster was not designed for me. But Harley-Davidson is competing in a global market, and it would surprise me not at all to find there are more takers for this than the conventional big Harley. Excellent job on this presentation, especially considering the frustrating camera. Side note: you should have ridden my '69 Sportster with a 10' over front end, shifter and brake reversed and no front brake. The good old days!
Love the sound when you started her up reminds of every Honda I have ever started, put a smile on my face, yes a Harley Davison just put a smile from its sound
Yep, this doesn’t sound like harley used to sound, and the sound in my opinion was one of their main selling points, and now it’s gone… so what do we end up with? Overpriced honda? Don’t think so, the quality isn’t there. Another indian? No, indian scout sounds better. Dissapointing
As an owner of a 2008 XL1200 Nightster “her name is Grace” I appreciate the very honest review of the new version and was surprised as well about the gas tank location. Not to mention the key issue. Have a great day and I look forward to more videos in the future. ✌️❤️🎣
Test rode one today. It was a lot of fun and is peppy. I agreed with a lot of what you said. However, I did not like the seat and the handlebars were too far forward for me. Some people like that but not me. I enjoyed riding it and I am sure there are a lot of people who will love it! I ended up riding a Sportster S back to the dealership and actually liked it more. Thank you for the great videos!
My 1200 Sporty get 48-50 mpg tooling around back roads @ 50-55. Same bike 46-47 two-up. And I can get at least 180 miles before I start get nervous about fueling. I don't have the peanut tank... there are three basic sizes: 2 gallon, 3.3 gallon and 4.5 gallon. Just some food for thought. Oh, I'm also a grandpa who hardly ever revs it up any more. I just cruise.
Thanks for the heads up on the new scooter. I'll be keeping my old XL1200.
Nice brutally honest “Jess” review of the Nightster! This should be a big seller. Very nice looking bike. I enjoy riding our 883 Iron. My son (32), he really likes it and so does his mom. We all three ride it occasionally. Thanks and ride safe Jess!
Yeah..."big seller" at 18k out the door for a 900cc liguid cooled bike. Lol. I don't think so.
Great video. For myself I'm looking at the 2022 handa goldwings for cross country trips and comfortable for my children or passengers.
Great review Jess ! A sportster and a V-rod had a baby and you just rode it. If you ever get a chance , go ride a V-rod then compare that to the Nightster, the V-rod has more power , but will make for a good comparison. Be good , ride safe !!!
My NC700X has a similar setup for fuel, except my filler is under the pillion seat. Bonus is that I have a “frunk” where the tank traditionally is. Bad part is that I can’t use my pillion seat for bags unless I want to remove them every 200 miles to fill up.
That is why I wouldn't buy an NC700 who wants to unload a bike to get gas? No one.
I rode an "82 Iron Head for 10 years. Thins bike has me thinking....too bad they did didn't put the fuel filler in the faux tank like they did on my Buell XB. I don't like having to get off the bike to fill it. Maybe I'm spoiled. Excellent video. Kickin' music.
I've always liked the Sportster, regardless of what model. You have to go into the Sportster knowing it is a raw machine, meant to be that little monster that can do things you didn't think it could and will do it with an attitude. I haven't ridden the new Sporty yet, but if the throttle is as twitchy as you say then I'm sure it will be like the Pan America, which I thought was twitchy. Great video and I can't say I've had the same problem with my GoPro's as you do. Perhaps yours are just a little road worn and weary? The only problem I've had with my GoPro's is one of them flew off the bike at 40 mph, thankfully it still works.
I've had a Pan America since August, the throttle is super twitchy.
I don't own a Harley but still enjoy watching because you make fun videos. Great review!
You are representing the most important aspect of the lifestyle. Bringing women into this life. I am a 50-year-old "biker" with 40 years riding under my belt, no club affiliation but it is a blessing to be part of the community. Love what you are doing, keep it going. Ride safe from Texas.
Love your content and please keep it coming. I would like to know how do you get full riding footage of yourself? Is it by drone, or do they have event Videographers?
The event was sponsored by Harley to not only get unbiased reviews out, but for advertising footage (as seen in the last bit of her video) Lots of "company" cameras were out to record the day.
That 975 looks to be a vast improvement over the 883. The twitchy throttle is probably set up that way. Sport bikes are all mapped similar and shows off the power capabilities of the engine.. I like the black one on stage!
@@MostlyInteresting,the twitchy throttle is caused by an abrupt amount of change in the demand signal that it sends to the ECU, and the electronic throttle body's response to that input. It's a hardware problem, not a software problem.
@@spaceflight1019 you can smooth out that step between two values pretty easily in software...i bet they haven't tuned that code yet.
@@Shastar271828 , back in the day industrial control software had a "function generator" feature in the blockware. It was an "X (input)=Y(output)" that was based on percentage, and the steps were typically 10 percent. If you were controlling a valve, the position feedback from the valve was one term in the PID (proportional, integral, derivative) control. Getting the valve to control properly during the initial 10% of travel is much more difficult than the remaining 90%. I agree that whoever "tuned" the software has more work to do, maybe actually riding the bike to observe the effects of tuning instead of downloading their latest guess based upon what the test riders tell them?
@@MostlyInteresting , I drive a 2016 Jeep Patriot with the 2.4L fly-by-wire engine. It doesn't do anything that I wouldn't expect an engine controlled by a throttle cable to do. But time and time again, motorcycle testers report imprecise off-idle throttle control.
Ever time I think I'm ready for a Harley. I just go road test one and it reminds me why I don't have one......lol. just wish they would start focusing on performance. Love the video review
Thank you for your honest review!
I literally just got home from a SHORT test ride of a 2023 Nightster Special (the one with the passenger pillion and pegs). I didn't notice the brake pedal issue, but I've been told I have big feet, so, dooh!
Any way, I'm trying not to get to emotional about this, but it's been 5 years since I've ridden, having sacrificed my '07 Electra Glide for a car for my PhD student; it felt like HEAVEN!
I've owned the touring bike and two Sportys; one was technically my wife. I loved my 1200 Custom, but did NOT love the forward pegs because I found it hard to stand that way. I miss that bike, oh hell, I missed BOTH those bikes.
I'm working out a deal with an HD Dealership for a USED 2023 NIghtster with S&S Pipes so it sounds like a Harley and not like it needs oil. It also has a USB/Bluetooth Sound Bar to sweeten the deal, and only 1,018 miles on it with FULL FACTORY WARRANTY through May '25.
How can I say no? I LOVED the torque! It felt like a tall bike to me, but oh man, was it stable! I started in Rain mode and within about 30 seconds was in Sport mode. I think that this bike is EXACTLY what the 1957 Sportster was meant to be, a FUN SPORT BIKE!
So yes, IT. IS. A. HARLEY. You adapt or die. Kudos to Harley for giving us the PERFECT Transition Machine!
Roll it on, Rock it out, JB.
That's what they said about the Vrod, but it WAS a Harley Davidson no matter what anybody said. Stay safe out there.
I bought my 2023 nightster special yesterday and I really love riding it !
Love the review videos! Music mix for this video was on point!
Hey Jess hope you’re getting some miles in now the weather is getting nice. I have a question? did the Nightster have cruise control on it? If not wonder if it could be added
Love gas tank, in today's gas being over $4.00, great that come back to bike with same amount gas it had in it when I went in the store, that is why I have always loved other bands for the locking gas cap
Fantastic review. First time I’ve watched. Thanks for your honest review. Like your style of review, straight and to the point. Sub’d right away.
What a great review. I just bought one of these yesterday, identical to the black one seen in the presentation. My first Harley-Davidson. The sales guy - who was an older, lifetime Harley guy - and I were talking about the modern, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled engine with very different ignition timing that no longer produces that trademark Harley shake and rumble (but does produce a good bit more power). I said "I wonder what the old-school Harley guys think about it." Without hesitation, he said "F*** 'em. They don't buy anything."
It seems like a very smart and ultimately probably very necessary move for HD to move forward to attract a new group of riders that appreciate this kind of modern engine technology. Like me.
Thank you for the personal review. It helps prep me for the purchase decision.
I'm with you, Jess. The old Sportster is a dinosaur! Over 50 years old with not a lot of changes. Harley, much to their credit, is trying to move into the 21st century. My Son who is 28 and owns a hot rodded FXR just rolls his eyes at how yesteryear Harley and many of its riders are. He is kinda done with Harley because of this and is talking about getting a Yamaha and just riding it instead of working on it all the time. But he rally likes the Pan America! So maybe there is still hope. I think Harley is on the right track with the Rev Max engine and I hope they sell a ton of 'em. But the Indian Scout Rogue is a comparable bike at about $3000 less, so we'll see, right?
I think that harley could have taken the Moto Guzzi way to modernise itself, and it would be way easier given the larger fanbase the motor company has.
It should have kept updating the engine, so it would have been able to keep the air-cooled engines, thus not throwing away ther "heritage".
Check the v7 850: while not being a performance bike, it has a good, light, emission regulation compliant engine.
@@francescoporcari8597 I've always liked Moto Guzzi, but never pulled the trigger on one. Back when I was serious about getting one, other riders would say to make sure it was a "2nd" bike as they have problems and take a while to get fixed. I'm just speculating, but I doubt that's an issue now. Just like Harley - I've had 3 so far and never any mechanical problems.
Holy hell Jess, the cinematography in this video is next level! Your into editing is spectacular! Did HD provide the chase car/done footage? Love it all, you look magnificent riding this bike. Keep up the great work, don't change for anyone. Also, WTF GoPro?
Really good review, Jess, thanks for sharing.
I liked how you managed to facilitate how you felt riding the bike combining it with the right level of technical details (air cleaner sticking out, etc.).
Job well done 👍
Ride safe 🤙
Nice review! I sat on one this weekend and you're right, this thing is super light. (Damn GoPro's SMH)
Hey what a really great review! Nice when you went thru deatails in ur home. Would you raise the steering some? Would you ut on a softer comfy seat? Whats your opinion on the single front disc?
Had a FXDX with dual discs and that was great. Thanks again from Sweden🤠
I LOVE the added theatrical footage they took for you, it looks beautiful. It bothers be a little when people say bikes "aren't Harley Davidson". Yes, yes they are because Harley MADE them. Just because they're not exactly what you have known from them, doesn't mean they're not HD brand. In my opinion, Harley Davidson has been doing an amazing job over the last decade or so of making bikes that tailor to all different kinds of riders. They honestly have a bike for every kind of rider. The Nightster looks like a lot of fun to hop onto for a little city riding or shorter rides. I'd love to hop on one to see how different it is from my old 2011 Nighster. Thanks as always for the informative video!
Thank you for the review! Yep that gas tank will be an issue. First impression when you pulled back the seat to fill it was… uh oh. Exposed electronics. Did anyone think about if gas dripped on the exposed wires and inside? Or if the gas handle malfunctioned and you had over flow? Hmm. It would make sense if they did that, fuel under the seat, it would be all sealed off. Did anyone mention that at the event?
Yup, you said. Those few video frames set off alarm bells in my head. You have to be super careful filling up, but also, just accessing is hard enough. Key on the left, flip up from the right.. def not a one-handed thing. It also makes it harder to fill up at whichever side of the pump you liked...
Just came across your video and thanks to it I see the motorcycle in a different cool way. By having the top tank just for looks it’ll make it easier to switch and customize it and have aftermarket tanks to put on. This sounds like an awesome fun bike to have for going to work on the back roads. Didn’t like the looks of the motorcycle at first but now it seems like a fun nice motorcycle to have and customize
The motor!! On the new nightster!! Reminds me!! Of a o3 v- rod!! Sounds like it 2!! Plus the gas tank!! Under the seat!! Over all!! U rocked it!! Great video!! Thanks!!🤘😎🤘
Enjoyed this layout of video the music over riding kept me more captivated, obviously love some riding with the sound of the engine also but the change was good and for me personally the music choices were pritty cool.
As for the bike it's not my thing I own a yam xv1600 big vtwin similar to appa but can appreciate where HD is going and that bike will help the people wanting that kind of bike some with hate but such is life.
Ha ha tried one out this afternoon 😍… but stalled before I left the parking lot!!
It will take a lot for me to look at other bikes… I liked it!!
This bike is so much fun. Bought the 2023 special and I don’t care what everyone says. It’s become my daily ride.
For me it's all good and well that they are diversifying there line up towards a wider audience. I appreciate that they are finally evolving.
My problem is that the statement "they are not going to discontinue there traditional air cooled motors" might apply in America but it's not applying in Europe. The Iron 883, the only Harley Davidson I would buy due to the fact that it had the old school Harley feel at a relatively reasonable price, is gone. The Softail Slim, which was literally my dream bike is also gone.
Aftermarket exhausts here in Europe are also not as easy to install as they are in America. I don't know if it's the same in every European country but at least in mine you have to register the mod on our DMV equivalent, and we need to undergo vehicle inspection to check it. If it doesn't comply with the requirements you fail the inspection.
It's doable, but it's an expensive pain in the a**.
I just wish they added the new models without removing the old ones, specially the 883. Because there isn't really an alternative to it other than this modern stuff, which is not meant for the more old school riders.
Yeah needing a key to fill it up when you have a fob to start it, but more importantly having to get off the bike to put gas in it, seems super annoying to me. I guess you would get used to it but I've almost never gotten off of any of the motorcycles I've owned to pump gas.
I was just talking to a friend about brake pedal/shifter ergonomics on new motorcycles; when a person buys a new high end bicycle, most shops set the bikes up so the riders ergonomics are taken into consideration. When I buy new running shoes at the running stores they go to great lengths to make sure I am fit properly, and knowing ergonomics on a motorcycle is a princess and the pea moment for most riders, I can't for the life of me figure out why the Factory doesn't take that into consideration. I believe that's why there are so many low mileage motorcycles traded in or for sale because riders have no infrastructure to make a motorcycle more comfortable...as I go out into the garage and try to readjust my brake lever on my Dyna for the tenth time at least.
Thank you for addressing the people who won't like the new models no matter what; I'm hoping the people who claim that Harley never builds anything for them will get past their biases to try the new models.
I thought I was the only one experiencing gopro issues. I literally quit using my 8 for the exact same reason you experienced and when I sent it in for warranty, Gopro said there was nothing wrong with it. It still will not record audio thru an external mic thru the media mod. I bought a 9 at that time and it has it's own problems, turns on and off randomly while recording, takes pictures instead of video randomly and since the latest update turns itself on and off while sitting on my desk in the middle of the night. The battery is always dead in it. I'm very hesitant about buying a 10 thinking that will resolve the issues or move to another brand...and I didn't even address the audio quality issues with the Gopro.
Man / Woman I love the look of this bike. I was all set to trade my 2020 MT10 on one because it was far too tall for me but I found the 2022 Triumph Street Triple R 765 Low ride height and now I can get the balls of both feet on the ground even after having the suspension set up for me. Harley Nightster $NZD28,000 Triumph $NZD18,000 ride away. Saved myself $10,000 dollars : ).
Regarding the fuel tank lock, shouldn’t the seat at least hinge away from the key lock when accessing the fuel tank? It looks like you’d have to unlock the seat and then walk around to the other side to comfortably fuel the bike.
I think it's over priced and I'm a Harley enthusiasts I have three. It's going to be hard to get the sport bike crowd to switch. Fun channel.
Love your editing skills here. Amazing views
Great review, thank you. I am a new rider and still deciding the best bike for me. The Sportster seems like a ton of fun but not necessarily a cruising bike. Then the Soft Tail or Heritage or Street Bob, just not an aesthetic for me. I am hoping this Nightster might be the best blend of design with a better engine etc.
Do you have any insight to aftermarket exhaust and pegs for this bike?
Great video & review. Not sure on this bike... but, could the brake lever be moved up or down on the splined shaft, or is it just too short??
I like the fact that you are not exclusivy tied to H.D.. Riding all around the country on different bikes. Sounds like a good life to me. Oh, and the trash pale made me lmao. Great video. Thanks
your the first person to mention the shifter being small. I noticed it real quick. My right big toe knuckle gets real sore shifting and it is hard to find. I also noticed the rear break is hard to find. I was thinking I was crazy because I was the only one that noticed it.
Great vid.. Cool looking bike... Have you looked into DJI action cameras? I think they are the next best thing without the issues.
I like that you're using something of your old intro. I like the new motor but I love hearing that stroker motor. Thanks for the vid. Be careful out there, all.
Another good review. Have you tides a vrod or test one?
Would you pick the nightster over the scout rogue?
On-off throttle could be lean idle, might be able to flash the ECU and richen it up. Love the videos honesty, we need this as we are spoilt for choice these days, so many good machines out there.
Hey Jess, Is the Nightster comparable to the Honda Rebel 1100? Prayers Flying for safe travels!
I own the Nightster, I started on the 883, and the difference in agility was huge. The 883 is so stiff and the Nightster is very nimble. The tiny shifter peg and break was something I thought would be an issue but I adjusted to it quickly. I’m not a fan of the whining exhaust, and I intend to fix that eventually, but my problem is the handle bars and the grips. I’m 5’6” and I have to lean into the bars. The bars are so aggressive and straight that I have to lean a decent amount into it and it’s extremely uncomfortable. Short term it’s okay, but my palms and hands start to hurt so badly within 30 minutes. The grips are too small so I have to have a tighter grip that wears my hands down and then with the forward lean my palms are on fire. We did an3 hour ride and that is the last time I will do that . My husband has ordered new bars and grips, thankfully, because it’s such a fun bike to grip it and rip it. Sport mode really kicks it up beautifully. I’m just really surprised she didn’t have the pain I did, we look to be about the same size and build.
Great video jess thanks can't wait for the next one
Your reviews are honest and fair. That said I don’t see anything about this bike I like and I am a fan of rubber mount sportsters. That exhaust looks like a leaf blower. The covers on the cylinders look ridiculous. Idk if they’re plastic but they look weird. The bike reminds me of something from Star Wars. Def not a fan of the look and the fake fuel tank. Nope. I think they’re going to have a hard time getting buyers at the price point.
I love the mids on my XL, I like that I can quickly slide over and hang off carving the twisties.
yeah I am a guy, but I have short legs and long arms, and besides the mids increasing the handling performance, they just feel right with my drag bars.
I did a lot to move my CG forward, but I nailed it.....my bike drifts perfect. ( trips down on the tubes just 0.010" underspec )
So first question then jess which is better in your opinion this harley or the Indian rogue you tested recently?? Loved the vid by the way and I know what you mean about weight I ride a suzuki vl1500 and that has an underseat tank too 😀
Love the intro Jess! Pretty cool addition
Great video and I have a question. Will this new technology spill on to the baggers? My wife and I have Road Glide Special with stage 2 and we love them BUT I would love the new tech and weight savings to be applied to the baggers. I think of the Porche brand and how they kept the 911 evolving. I hope HD does the same. Be safe 🙏🙏
I currently have a Tri=Glide due to my wife's many health issues (She's battled cancer eight times and walks with a walker these days) I would love to get back to two wheels and one of my favorute bikes was a Heritage (I've owned two of them). But at our age, and health issues we don't ride like we use to. We have traveled almost 400,000 on motorcycles over the years. These days we stay close to home and close to the cancer center.
The Nightster with the long haul package is what I am mainly looking at. I would also add a luggage rack with a round leather top bag for the rack and passenger floor boards for my wife. She has trouble mounting a bike these days and I have to help her on. Passenger floor boards make it a little easier for her..
There are afew things I don't like about the new Nightster. One you don't thumb the starter button. The relocation of the starter button seems odd to me, I've thumbed a starter button since the 60's.
Two, the bar end mirrors seem odd to me. They stick out from the bike making it harder to park the bike in tight places, like in a gagrgae. They just seem odd.
And thirdly, the filling of the fuel tank. I once had a Suzuki Intruder 1500 LC which also had its fuel under the seat, but the fill cap was in the false tank which also housed the air cleaner assembly. I don't see why Harley Davidson couldn't have ran a tube up to the false tank for the filler cap. Even if the fillier cap is under the seat and you have to use a key, it seems to me the seat opens from the wrong side. Most rider mount and dismount from the left side of the bike. On the Nightster the seat opens in a way where the seat itself is in the way of the filler cap. Wouldn't it make more sense to have the seat open in the other direction so it would be out of the way? And yes, why have a key for acess to the filler cap? A simple button would do just fine. Thanks for your video, I enjoyed watching it and lestening to your comments.
I’ve had mine since may, I love it. Way way better than the old air cooled model. Not even close.
When you go out to test these bikes are you allowed to change the shifter height? (You know.. left foot lever?) just wondering because I can’t stand when they are so high I have to lift basically my whole leg because of of my baby feet.
I have the same gopro woes, have you found an alternative you are happy with?
I don’t know honestly. It looks nice but you can get the Softail standard for the same price and it has 40 more ft lbs of torque stock. I know I know, two totally different motors but still. I think the nightster is good for either a starter bike or for someone who wants to turn it into a chopper. I would love to see a chopper with that new motor in it.
I have a 22 bmw g310gs, which I love and adore. but I was thinking of upgrading to the Nightster, is it an upright sitting riding position?
Awesome intro!! I've got to learn how to make my intros like that
Great review. Well done
This past weekend I had the opportunity to test ride the new nightster at my local Harley-Davidson dealership here in Bowling Green Kentucky. Honestly I would not go out and buy this bike the foot shifter to me was awkward I felt that I was reaching way too far forward. But of course I am a short person to some people who will ride this bike at a demo we'll probably will like it but for person my size it just felt awkward
How does it compare to the Honda Rebel 1100? and IMO this is the best looking New Harley yet. Love the videos
Great video thank you. Your right its a nice bike not for everyone. I perfer 4 cylinder 4 store. I like the rest of them. Finding the right bike for one may not be right for a northern. I hope someone gets you a better video camera or 2. Thanks again cheers to ya
I bought a 2023 knightster 2 weeks ago you have any recommendations In any aftermarket exhaust so my bike sounds louder??😊
Ok which do you like better? The scout rogue or the nightster?
I test rode one yesterday and I agree on the brake & shifter peg. If I was a new rider I would start out on the rain mode until you’re used to the power Then you can move up to street and then to sport. This bike hauls ass and I would hate to think of a new rider wicking the throttle. As for saying it’s not a Harley, I owned two Vrods and that was my first HD in 2002. I was thrilled that they made a bike I really loved. It had style and HP, coming from Kawasaki’s I was opened to new technology and I was never a follow the crowd guy. Even today I still didn’t fall into the today’s hot bike. I’ve owned the last three years an 18 Fat Bob and my 20 Sport Glide neither one was a me too bike. Individual choice is what it’s all about. I dig both Sportsters, but I also like the FXRST as well as the other ST models. Nice review 😎
I think that motor is awesome. Hope to see more of it. That red is beautiful. I'm like you more of a creature comfort guy. That is a great point about the key for the gas.
Maybe it's a difference in where we live. But I like that the seat locks and blocks access to the fuel tank. It's a built-in locking gas cap that should prevent anyone from stealing your gas. Unlike a normal Sportster that has the gas tank easily accessible, and a gas cap that just opens up as long as you know your left from your right.
I'm looking 2replace my current ride, and the Nightster is an interesting option. The liquid cooled RevMax engine seems to be a winner...👍😺
I saw a review that Motorcycle magazine did comparing the Honda Rebel 1100 DCT against the Nightster and they like the Rebel, but didn’t like the ergonomics of the foot pegs and the handlebar position.
Fun vid! 🤙🏼 Sucks about your GoPro issues. Time to go Office Space on it. Lol!!!
