Maybe - I love Pikes Peak. But... it can snow here anytime during the year. Planning is essential - but worth it. I rode this on a 1996 Vulcan 1500 VN Classic. Loved every minute.
There are many better rides than Mt. Evans in Co. Most are West of there. Guanella Pass,Pikes Peak & Rocky Mnt. National Park are not too far from there.
At that elevation, winter kicks that road’s ass (and several other 12, 13 and 14ers up there). Winter weather is a looooong season at elevation. They really do their best to clean the road up but road fixing season is very short. Rough roads are just part of life at those elevations. You handled it well for a flat lander. Not every rider can say the same. Well done!
Thank you, that brought back a lot of memories, I used to go up Mount Evans often when I lived in Colorado - but haven't been there for more than 25 years. That particular road is super difficult to maintain at the very high elevations due to really nasty frost heaves in the ground underneath it - they do put effort into fixing it, but after each winter when the snow recedes there are new giant bumps and canyons, so its a constant battle to keep it passable. Now imagine driving that in heavy fog with intermittent snow and patches of ice - done that, it can be a challenge! The rodents you saw are Colorado Yellow-Bellied Marmots, the locals call them "whistle pigs" due to the sound they make. Yes there are always mountain goats and sheep up there, they won't usually bother you if you don't try to chase them - they are used to lots of tourists and sometimes seek food (a bad behavior). Oxygen sensor codes often get set by very rapid changes in altitude, convinces the engine computer "the readings can't be real, something is wrong" and it sets a code.
A very interesting video. The poor roads are much better than the 'B' roads (everything bar motorways / major highways) here in Devon England. Whilst walking in the dark I fell into a nine inch deep pothole in my village two years ago and still only have 20% use of my left hand after a poor hospital operation. Vehicle road tax here is enormous, but where the money goes...??????? I've motored many times in the USA and you guys are immensely fortunate, some private mountains excepted.
My cousin who lives in Denver told me that on weekends there is a traffic jam going to Mt. Evans. Anyway, I am happy you went and even happier you took us along. Thank you!
I've ridden both Mt. Evans and Pikes Peak. I loved Mt. Evans much more! The road is sketchier but that's fine by me since I've ridden much worse during my travels. The secret to the best views is to walk up the trail at the top up to the actual summit. From there, you can sit or stand on a rock and have 360deg panoramic views! I've done PIkes Peak several times and the road is much smoother but the whole experience seems sanitized more for the masses and has lost that raw feel that you get at Evans. When I compare the two for others, I often say that Pikes Peak is a nice scenic drive and Mt. Evans is that but a bit more of an adventure.
I rode Pikes Peak about 2 weeks before you did Mt Evans. Only 15ft less, but more switchbacks and better roads. 83 at the bottom. 15 at the summit with windchill. It snowed 2 ft about 2 hrs after I left.
I live in Colorado and I can tell you for sure your check engine light came on just because of the high elevation. Happens to me a lot with whatever vehicle I'm driving. Nothing out of the ordinary... And it's the heavy snow and ice that keeps that road beat up, nothing they can do about it. And to anyone who wants to ride up there, take a lot of rapid deep breaths before you get back on your bike to go down. Gets rid of dizziness from lack of oxygen. Good job riding it Lady!
I was stationed at Lowry AFB in Aurora Colorado back in 1978. There wasn't a park ranger entrance to Mt Evans, or a fee to go up there. Pikes Peak had a park entrance, and they would check your brakes coming down hill to make sure you weren't overheating them.
As always Jess great video! Thanks for sharing the amazing scenery with us! I totally agree with you about just cruising and enjoying the ride- not speeding/ riding aggressive. It’s all about the sights and smells on the bike 😊
I drove to the top of Mt Washington, NH in a car and was all freaked out, I can’t imagine riding that on a bike, or Mt Evans on a bike. You are my hero for doing this road.
My Evans is my mountain. I grew up south of Denver and Mt Evans dominates the skyline. It is a rolly road. Snow is very real. It is only gone for a couple months a year. Getting equipment up there to pave would be no small feat. The run off, especially by the lake would tear up the road in very little time. The fee is actually a new thing. The large rodent was a marmot at that elevation. You were sniffed by a young big horn sheep. Cool video. You did a nice job capturing the experience.
I loved the ride up Mt Evans. My first attempt I had to turn back because it was snowing to hard. It was an interesting u turn in 6” of slush on a grade. Pikes Peak was great too but I couldn’t go to the top due to the construction at the time. Riding in Colorado does not disappoint.
Great video. I live in Colorado and in between Mt. Evans and Pikes Peak. It been a couple years since going up Evans but it’s part of the Foresty Service and not a National Park so I don’t believe I have been able to use my NP pass to get in but they may take them. Pikes Peak does not take it as it is not a NP either. The road is awful and I don’t go up there much as I agree while it is spectacular it’s pretty rough. It is really us to do with the frost heave’s that occur on the road. That coupled with the short timeframe that fixing it needs makes it very difficult to maintain. While I also am not a road construction person this is what the high level deal with it is. It’s snows in July up there. Glad you rode it! Hope you stopped at the little store by in Echo Lake and picked up a patch.
They could repave that road every year, and it would still be that bad. The melt off refreezes in any cracks, and tears it up. It would be never ending construction. The cost goes to all the park services in Colorado, mostly for conservation. It sucks you didn't enjoy it, but thank you for helping keep my state's wild lands protected!!
Another great video! The O2 sensor error often gets triggered at those altitudes. Not a problem, just have to clear the error code. The sensor itself is fine. We were out in Colorado this summer and experienced the same thing. Stay safe and keep having fun!
Great video, even though the roads wasn't great, still looked like a great ride. I'm sure the altitude had something to do with the O2 sensors getting screwy.
Welcome to Colorado. I believe it to be the most beautiful state in the US, but I am partial for I grew up there. At almost 70 and still ridding, a 2013 ultra limited, I have ridden those roads many times. I slow down when ridding in any Park system and yes in Colorado we get Gravel on the roads, ride safe and enjoy.
Long time Colorado transplant here. Glad you got to ride Mount Evans and even gladder I got to see you do it so I may not have to. It's incredible that road is so lousy. Hope you got to ride trail ridge in Rocky mountain national Park. I've ridden it many times it's a much better road. The views are just as good maybe slightly lower in elevation but not much. Hope you get the chance to ride it. Thanks for the ride along.
pikes peakis paved to the top 14,115 ft and the the road is smooth all the way to the top. they have car races to the top once a year about the second week in june.
Yep. You swallow your stomach on some of the views. Great road. Was shut down for a while back in the day for repairs. See you at the rally need a sticker. Stay safe
I love goats! Lol! Those roads are amazing and the ruins looked amazing. I had no idea that road was the highest in the continental US. Thanks for sharing!!!
OMG! Going up that mountain looked absolutely terrifying! The no edges would freak me out. Plus, I ride a trike, so my backside is wider. Glad you did it though. In hindsight it will be a good memory.
You are a warrior Jess! The road to Mt.Evans is sketchy. I would've been so scared with no guard rails and cars coming at you. Mt. Evans I'd a rip off for the way the road was not maintained properly. Free roads are prettier. But you can say you rode to the summit of the highest "paved" elevation road.
OMG, scary ride. Just got back from Fort Collins CO to Poplar Bluff MO tuesday 12:10 am. Trout fishing in Red Feather.1000 mile butt burner! Stay safe on your trip back to Ohio and thanks for the great. Video.
Pikes Peak is about 100 ft lower in elevation, but the road is very well maintained and smooth with a nice gift shop at the top. Also, there is no Denver traffic to deal with on the way to Pikes Peak. For super beautiful Colorado without the altitude, try Black Canyon of the Gunnison, especially East Portal Road. And yes, high altitude ground hogs are marmots.
Going to Denver is perfectly logical if your final destination is Columbus. You get to enjoy the beauty of Colorado and when it's time to go home you just hop on 70 eastbound. Have a great week, Jess.
I found you through Blockheads channel. Born and raised in Cbus, and I'm picking up my brand new electra glide from No Cages this week! I've been riding for years but excited for my first harley. Do you ever do group rides or meet and greets around central ohio when you're not out traveling?
hey from Ontario Canada ,anthougher great video ,was not liking the short ones but as they say to great things come to those who wait lol the only thing i was a little disappointed in was no footage of you ride that horrible back down lol ..im sure that would have been entertaining listening to you ..😉🏍🏍

That’s all free and just about perfect. Sometimes I take that as my commute. It triples the time, but infinitely increases how much I enjoy that time.

Pikes Peak will surely pucker your butthole.
If you did you would have always be wondering,Did I miss out not going to Mt. Evans

This girl is awesome. Love to see someone having fun these days.
Awesome video! We love your commentary and also both my wife & I enjoy the engine sound rather than music with video. Thank you!!
G'day from down under Australia 🇦🇺, recently just started watching your channel and loving it🤟👍

Your enthusiasm and joyfulness makes your videos an enjoyable watch! You are a HOOT!!
Love watching a new video while drinking my coffee!!!
Gotta ride the rough roads to appreciate the smooth ones. Great video as always Jess!
Lol, God I love that addicted laugh of yours that your video started with. Safe travels and lots of love from South Africa.
i am liking the rides with no music. great to watch while i'm at work. Yip Yip
As always Jess great video! Thanks for sharing the amazing scenery with us! I totally agree with you about just cruising and enjoying the ride- not speeding/ riding aggressive. It’s all about the sights and smells on the bike 😊
Motorcycle lover of beautiful nature, I love this video.
yes Pikes Peak was a blast, also the Garden of the Gods is right in Colorado Springs too
Wow what surprise. My home state and I grew up in Denver and my dad grew up in Idaho Springs. Another great video!
”Jess gets high in the Rockies" ???
Super cool ride, it's on my bucket list. Thanks for taking us along!
I drove to the top of Mt Washington, NH in a car and was all freaked out, I can’t imagine riding that on a bike, or Mt Evans on a bike. You are my hero for doing this road.
Thanks for the video jess I enjoyed it keep it up can't wait for the next one
Idaho springs is beautiful. I was there in 05. I wanted to ride the train that was up the road from there but it was closed when we tried to go.

Talkative Jesse is the Jesse we love ! Keep it coming ! We're here for this ! 😄😆
You re more "giggly" than just chatty when nervous. But adds to the excitement. LOL

We have been in June, early June, 20' snow drifts on nw sides of exsposuer...
Thanks for the ride along Jess!
As always, awesome video Jess! 😎🤘
Awesome video...I hope to get to the point to where I can travel on my motorcycle like this. Not ready to go home? Sweet.. so where should I go now! 👍
On longer challenging roads.. to start, in rain and wind...

😅
OMG girl!! You did awesome! I live in Colorado and have never done that road. Heard it was a rough road.
Love the background music
should have done Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado! What a view though!
What a view. That must be some kind of ride in the winter.
Hello 👋🏾 from Montréal Québec it in Canada 🇨🇦 I like 👍🏾 the content and the goals the ram 🐏
Looked like an exciting rider. 😮
stunning !!!!
Good series! For a minute there, it looked like that goat wanted to hitch a ride! 🐐🐐LOL!!
Going to Denver is perfectly logical if your final destination is Columbus. You get to enjoy the beauty of Colorado and when it's time to go home you just hop on 70 eastbound. Have a great week, Jess.
Your giggle and laugh are so cute. Lol
Bighorn Sheep. Kind of a Rare sighting and in many respects the true hi-light of this trip.
I found you through Blockheads channel. Born and raised in Cbus, and I'm picking up my brand new electra glide from No Cages this week! I've been riding for years but excited for my first harley. Do you ever do group rides or meet and greets around central ohio when you're not out traveling?
Sweet I used to live in Idaho springs we used to call that oh my God mountain
Certainly nerve racking bumps. Thank you for enduring and sharing!
Sheeeesh that road was bumpyyy. LOL. Pretty cool sights though!
Looked like one of those Old Nintendo Motocross games through your windshield over the whoop-de-dos
hey from Ontario Canada ,anthougher great video ,was not liking the short ones but as they say to great things come to those who wait lol the only thing i was a little disappointed in was no footage of you ride that horrible back down lol ..im sure that would have been entertaining listening to you ..😉🏍🏍
I'm from St Louis Missouri, I rode out there last week and did Pikes Peak. It is absolutely amazing
Love the laughter 😃
If you ever do Pikes Peak, it can rain, snow, or hail at any time (we had hail on our trip in July). Definitely get donuts while you're there 👍
Looks like the road going up Mount Washington north of Laconia, NH. This looks quite a bit rougher tho!
Nice bike & video
I was waiting for that ram to headbutt the bikes…. Crazy cool experience though!
Love this series can't wait till next one
Good job
That’s one beautiful rode to ride😎😎
Wow what a view that road was wild ..👍🏻🇦🇺
Thanks for sharing your trip. I don’t mean to disparage your day because I thoroughly enjoyed this video, but honestly I feel bad that you hit all the wrong spots in the area. Driving in the Denver area is notoriously obnoxious, and the whole area is really just generic urban sprawl. The people are nice, but the tourist spots are underwhelming. It’s a good town for beer and conversation.
I was surprised you decided to take I-25 south from Wyoming to Denver, with some of the best motorcycle roads available just another 20 miles west. If you get the chance again, try heading south from Laramie, Wyoming on 287, or take Hwy 14 through Fort Collins, and then cut through Masonville/Stout en route to Estes Park and the Peak-to-Peak ride. That’s all free and just about perfect. Sometimes I take that as my commute. It triples the time, but infinitely increases how much I enjoy that time.
I have friends that have kids that recently down that on skateboards and inline skates, so can you imagine how crazy that is. I went up and down it 15 years ago on my old sportster but wasn't as rough estimate you had but it was snowing when I got to the top and cold. I don't do cold no more
I camped in that valley by the Chicago lakes in 1973 and had the place pretty much to myself. I was back out there in 2018 and could not believe the crowds. I saw people walking all over places that were clearly marked stay off of, because of fragile Eco system. It saddens me to see the direction we are headed. It is a very special place, but maybe not the best place to ride a bike. If you do not like rough roads stay out of Illinois, we may have the worst in the nation!
You were able to operate your phone with gloves. What are they. Love riding along.
Just south of Denver, hwy 67 into Deckers and Woodland Park is a gorgeous ride. Generally not busy, fun smooth pavement - Russ's Place is a burger spot in Woodland Park (I think) and it's fricken delicious!
I love your giggles
You ar so mutch fun to watch 😀💞 just love it 👋
I struggle with your outake. If your Harley is that fragile then I would want a different bike.
However it really brings out the importance of “riding your own ride”. If it was out of your comfort zone it was probably a mistake to go there. I know at times this sounds judgmental, but it’s something each person has to evaluate for themselves.
I was on a rented R1150GS when I went a few years back. It was vertigo inducing ride along those edges and I had to focus on the road and not the views. So be prepared if you go. Pikes Peak is easier IMHO.
Can’t wait to see more of this series as you release them.
A while back you spoke of some waterproof luggage leather or fabric?- thought I wrote the name down but - - do you recall the company? (I do live in FL - x 22yrs - love it!). Thanks
What light is it that's usually blinking on your speedo? I first noticed it during the hail storm video. Stay safe out there and ride on!
