Can you perform background vocals (playing one note on the keyboard using the GarageBand sampler) with lyrics and converting that sample to multiple voices played on the keyboard directly into a GarageBand track and then edit the sound? It seems to me it would be an efficient way to record backing vocal tracks. Looking forward to your comment. Thank you
Amazing little app ... the iPad is definitely becoming a full studio... just need to add a good MIDI controller. Should be able to Sample my hardware synths also... need an audio interface for that? Great demo, BTW!
I don't think the Ipad is full studio yet but it is getting there. One of the problems with Ipad is the app devs are charged a ridiculous fee by Apple thus hendering good development . Look at Samplr app a great app but non supported in fact the guy doesn't make anything for ios any more :-(
Hello, thanks for your video. I don't own an iPad but know I feel I must have one. One question I can't figure out, can you load sampled instrument from Logic into the sampler in GarageBand on iPad ? I'm sure you can do this on a Mac with GB. It would be nice to load autosampled inst. in esx format on the Pad.
Is it just me or is it impossible to loop a sample on Garageband so that it slides into to the note with a slow attack every time the sample loops? It only seems to apply the slow attack the first time the sample is played. After that it just loops the sample with a harsh and sudden attack, playing the loop straight from start to finish without applying the slower attack I set.
Cheers for watching and sorry about the kick drum in the other video! The camera kit is also known as a USB to lightning converter. Latest versions of iOS now support disk drives, which you can connect in this way...
Thanks for that Dan! I'm sure I'll figure it out once my iPad arrives. Am working my way through your videos in anticipation. Very helpful indeed! No need to apologise - just showed how powerful and versatile the software is!
I now have a new (5th generation) iPad but my old iPad 2 (in this video) had an old version of GarageBand on it. Yes it is true unfortunately that you can't download GB onto an old iPad. The iPad 2 I have has a maximum of iOS 9.3.5, which still isn't enough! However, the purchase price of a new iPad (£350 ish) is still far cheaper than a dedicated multitrack device, and it has all the effects built in!
This is a new video (early 2018) and yes: that's a very old iPad. The principles are the same however. You'll also notice that the computer to my left is a 2007 MacBook running Logic Pro 7 on OS 10.4.11. The reason they both work? Neither has ever had an update. Why am I still using them? They work! The MacBook will play back 32 channels of audio with no problems... We preoccupy ourselves with the newest this and the newest that. For me, making sure my musicianship is up to scratch is far higher up the list than the version of iOS or OSX...
Mr. Baker, you are the man. Your videos are incredibly helpful.
Thank
you 🙏
I’ve watched 3-4 of your videos and every one was better that the previous. Obviously, I’ve subscribed.
Thank you so much for sharing this Dan.....you are a true pro
Dan all your videos are fantastic well done thanks Robert from London
Very informative. Thank you.

Valdis Krebs Check out the Behringer UCA-202 interface if you want an inexpensive option that “just works”.
TheVimFuego The UCA202 works with the iPad also? I am looking at the product page... it only mentions Mac/PC.

It's very similar to the Roland S-10 keyboard sampler's features...with almost infinitely longer sample time ;)
Yeah but how do you sample music with it?
3:37 dat voice crack tho
Thank you
Can you explain the 'camera kit' you keep mentioning, please? Like the hat, btw, where did you get it?

Sorry for being thick. But where is the sampler on the newest version of GB?
David Ker Hi there: the sampler is now part of the keyboard menu.
What iPad and what iOS version do u use? I'm considering to buy an old iPad but people said old iPad cant install garageband. What do u suggest?

I have the new gb on an iPad 2 despite minimal memory.
>has thousands of dollars of musical hardware
> cannot seem to stop getting impressed by iOS app.
I can’t play my samples on my keyboard
Mmm. Not sure about that one. Can you play other keyboard sounds?
Yowza!
Is this old video? Why are you using old version of GB?
