Today we are taking a look at the new KelTec P50 chambered in 5.7x28. Is the Keltec P250 a cool gun, or not so cool? Watch our short review and tell us in the comments below if you think the KelTec P50 is a pistol configuration you think is cool or not cool.
When you get right down to it, the Keltec P50 seems to be a pretty basic build with not much to go wrong. We have not had a chance to shoot the Keltec P50 as of yet since this is the first we received and it sold just after making the video. Be sure to let us know what you think of the Keltec P50.

The P-250 the cameraman mentioned is a gasoline powered dewatering/firefighting water pump. Muzzle velocity is much slower, but it's a 2.5 inch bore so....
The safety is supposed to hit your finger when its on, so you can't mistake it. You do not want to squeeze in an emergency and not realize the safety is on. I consider it a good feature.
My only Con is the Mags are difficult to load. But the fact that it holds 50 rnds makes up for it.
I have the R50 version
I don't know if cool is the word, but it is a good compromise between size and power.
Small enough for a useful carbine, long enough for a big pistol, powerful enough for a riffle, 50 rounds magazine.
CUSTOM SMITH MFG is now making a brace adapter for the keltec p50, its a small pic rail mounted under the charging handle and the pics are really cool and it definitely looks better with a brace
Just got mine in the mail and have the SBA1913 brace on it now. Sweet shooter. No recoil at all.
Don't need a brace just buy the R50.

I like this gun for the new look the name and the magazine, i can wait to get one
That groove is not for grip...it is a groove for the carbine conversion kit. The wire "brace" fits perfectly into the groove while in collapsed position.

I bought The R50. I love shooting it. 50 rnds and nearly 0 recoil. When you fold it the wirestock fits into the groove. And becomes a front hand grip.
Really nice overview of the gun, it's really weird seeing that you guys have a youtube channel tho. I went to check out your store about 2 years ago when I lived up there so it's just strange knowing about you guys beforehand and then seeing your channel in my recommended.

Good review. I especially appreciated the immediate focus on that annoying safety gouging "feature". It's been almost a year since this review was published and no one has served up a fix for that problem. I hesitate to take a Dremel to it. I don't see where Keltec is selling Part #204 so I would have to sacrifice the original.
That groove is actually for a folding stock that would be put on the later r50 model

Ammo caliber is a bit on the pricey side. Otherwise looks cool, does it feed ammo reliably? Had a P-30 .22 magnum and it never did feed well.

It is. Didn’t get a chance to shoot it before it sold. Definitely going to shoot the next one we get in.

don't give a damn what people say in the comments I'm getting one when I can find one. lol range toy people throw that word too loosely. 57x28 rounds will kill obviously and any gun can be self defense
Thanx, Dave! I enjoy your vids. However, I think comments made a cupla gud points; tactile depth of safety( although I lean toward your view, and view it obstructive in a high-hand grip scenario) and wire brace position groove( I would prob look for thumb-hook). Of course, jus my opinion, personal tastes. To each, their own. Shore do like P50 overall. Jus gotta save up 948 more $$!! LOL & ☹.

My muzzle looks like yours seen another guy on RUclips it’s different and has O rings wonder why they switched it I’m in the 400s seem like earlier models

One other thing... you talked about the safety switch/selector. Keltec did that on purpose so just by gripping the gun, you can "feel" if it's ready to fire or not and when safety is off, it doesn't interfere at all... Thats not something keltec will change as it was done on purpose so the shooter has knowledge of if it's In safe or fire just from holding the gun...
Also... please take guns to the range for a proper review..

I just got one. Purchased for use as a backpack self-defense/get-out weapon. I've opted to put a laser and UTG Flip up sights on upper picatinny rail and a TRL-7 Streamlight on the undersde rail over the Holosun red dot or higher profile optic. it fits perfectly in the laptop stowage of my pack (secured with velcro strap). Three (3) spare 50 round mags loaded with Speer Gold Dot 40 grain HPs align vertically in the planner storage pouch to balance the bag nicely. The 5.11 pack is discreet and allows me quick access to 200 effective solutions to most any aggressor problems. It would be great if MCARBO created a velcro chest holster vest that could support the P50 weight.

Does anyone know a site thats not out of stick on the 5.7 ammo ? I cant find any local and i cant find a sight thats not out of stock or $30+ over regular store price even before tax

Far more than a range to with a 50 round mag
50 rounds people, 50 rounds... If you can't have a good start defending your home with 50 rounds, I just don't know. Also, it's not like it will take you minutes to add another 50 rounds. How about seconds.
I wanted this gun but having doubts now. My concern is with the flimsy charging handle. It's two flimsy pieces of metal? Cool looking gun and have watched other reviews but I think KelTec needs to make improvements to make it a more solid P50.
Charging handle is a little on the thin side. And it seems flimsy. But if you rate the fun factor from 1 to 10 id give it a 14. Love mine.
Have there been updates to this gun? I.e are we on a gen 2 or 3cat this point? Trying to determine reliability, but can’t find much info..

There's LOTS & LOTS of braces/folding stocks available for this gun ... if I could send you a picture, I'd show you mine..
In fact if you put an ecotec holographic sight, put a dupressor on it and a folding stock, it takes on the look of a tricked out CMMG Banshee (minus the underside magazine which the keltec doesn't have)...
But there's a shit load of stuff for this platform.
We zeroed mine on a tripod with a clamp on it and it is a true tactic driver. It made a 5 shot group the size of a nickel at 25 yards!!! No exaggeration. It's barrel is fixed to the sight/picatinny top rail so you never loose zero even after a mag swap.
One other thing is you should upgrade to FN brand mags, they run flawlessly. I had a few hick ups with the "pro mag" ps90 mags that come with it.
But Tim at Military Arms Channel as well as James on TFB & the Honest Outlaw (Chris) all had flawless shooting experience and were amazed at this gun... just fyi...
I know it's awkward to reload but like who needs fast reload when you literally have 50 rounds on your mag. If you haven't taken down your target with literal 50 rounds That's user error there😂

Well, since when is a 5.7x28 Gun a Range Toy? If anyone considered this a range toy, they must have money to burn for this Ammo! Sorry, but I don't mean to be mean But this is Not a very good review of this Innovative Firearm!

Now come to find out they design the gun from the very beginning to have a stock that folds and lays into the curved groove in front of the trigger not for a finger grip. Just Another reason I don’t buy kel tec you can’t trust them.
