Shweet! I know I loved it indeed... Can't wait to acquire the PG-14... Keep more Josh/Paul stuff comin' Sweetwater! Commission them to do more pedals! I'll buy them all.
This has everything; FET circuit explanation, the intricate relation between shoe size and the physics of sound, French aristocracy vs. dragon suits, tons and tons of legendary licks, awesome playing and two guys guitarsplaining all of it. Benchmark stuff!
This video is ridiculous. It has no right to be this good. If those two guys made a channel where they only did stuff like this, they could quit their other jobs. I want to buy that pedal just to remind me that this product demo exists. I might never plug it in. Plugging it in would just be disrespectful at this point.
J: I play more power chords than you because they're harder than this fast stuff you're doing, that's easy. P: Yeah, i don't commit to a note, you make commitments. Best episode ever. My sides
P.Gilbert is AMAZING! One of the few 80's BadAss Shredders that kept Growing/Learning since those days... Its a pleasure seeing his Skills Grow & Grow.... Respect Master Gilbert.
Its great to see someone demonstrate a pedal (especially a drive pedal) with different amps. The amp really does make a difference in the overall tone and shows the versatility of the pedal. Well done boys!
Ive been to a few where He did that (Around his 'King of Clubs' days) And He's such a Modest, Nice & Accommodating Master of the 6 String. He's Truely an Inspiration!
that parametric mid preamp is so mind blowingly powerful man, the range is ridiculous. with push on max i haven't played anything more satisfying than the PG-14, being able to hear it completely fall apart and fold over like an amp that's on fire, all from a little pedal, then you can scoop all the mids out just the way you like it no matter what you're running it into...it negates the necessity to mod anything, having the capability to sweep it to preference, so versatile.
Two of the nicest funniest and talented guys in Rock. Their chemistry is incredible. The pedal is sweet. I could watch this all day long. Great work. Thanks!
Nice Job Sweetwater! Great Video. Great pedal debut. I usually hate these sorts of things. These guys and that killer pedal are great together. Visited your place in Fort Wayne last week. Very impressed by you sales team. I'm a convert. Great Video. Great company.
Always been a Paul Gilbert fan since the 80s. I was always inspired and fascinated by his technic ! I aimed to play like him but fell short of his amazing speed. Still inspires me today, one of the best guitarists of our time IMO.
I love Andertons because they are not only informational but entertaining and I feel like I'm finally getting that from a sweetwater video. I find myself really enjoying this and looking into it, It has more views than most of their videos from the last month. The Sweetwater Store/Staff/Campus are unmatched, I've always wished they had a better presence on youtube. I hope this is a sign of more great videos in the future!
dam truth He is seriously sick when he mix up with such marketing BS company as JHS plus he starts to lie and spred such nonsense to boost the selling of this shit,. i just don't get it, person with such career, the legend of shred master of guitar why He needs that uber crap. I hope he isn't in some credit trouble.
Omg I love these interviews and reviews with Paul Gilbert, please give us more. PS: I’m actually building my first pedal board thanks to these awesome videos with Paul
Okay we’re watching this video, this pedal makes a lot more sense. When I first plugged mine in and it was doing that “dying” sound, I thought it was broken or defective! This pedal really is like no other gain pedal so you can’t look at dialing it in like a normal distortion pedal
This is an awesome testament of how cool this pedal is. I was watching this vid and I had my iPhone volume up. Paul was playing Mississippi Queen and my wife, who wasn’t watching said, how many guitars are playing? The separation of frequencies between the bass strings and the high notes made her think 2 guitars were being played to accomplish the demo. YES!!! It works, even with crappy iPhone speakers.
Watching other Regular pedal demos is not fun, this is amazing! I want more, I feel it would be a great idea for Paul and Josh to join forces and they will be the absolute mega pedal company all others strive to be. The witty banter is priceless.
Paul always makes simple things like pick scrape sound so awesome. Same with single note bends. I feel like he does these simple moves to encourage people who aren't virtuosos. He takes simple moves and I think he does it on purpose to be super nice and not over guitar godlike lol. He is godlike btw.
Yes yes yes! That is the best- clarity with some cojones. I think the only way may be pure amp tube/and or speaker overdrive, and things like the Swart "Nightlight" can provide that affordably today, meaning it doesn't cost more than your actual amp, unlike some other devices.
pls don't forget ''dynamic respond'' because hey pedal does not you, wow what BS hype, such shameless load of nonsense in order to make kids buying it. Can you ask JHS to make an episode how to rip of schematics , change 1 value and sell it as his own design, please let He enlight us what He use in order not to feel the shame. Josh the master of crap and marketing BS, i admit it takes to be a huge son of bitch to id with such cold poker face.
THIS!!!!! Is the new standard for pedal demos!!! Good show! Loved all the amp swap out, the shoot from this hip licks, trading out playing and settings!! Just great!!!
I have been in such a funk since the news broke about Eddie Van Halen's passing. This video and the one on the JHS channel promoting this pedal have really lifted my spirits.
One of the most badass moments of my life was... Watching MR.BIG in front of Paul and I was so close I cloud feel the air moving from the Amps So sick 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Being young, I originally heard of PG as "The dude that gave lessons to Kirk Hammet and Buckethead, man," but then later heard of his solo work, guitar instructional videos, and work in Mr. Big. Truly a Grandmaster of his profession.
Such a freaking nerd Fest... I love it! I could watch these two together for hours. I love when Paul goes Yacht Rock... Even better yet... Captain and Tennille.
Wowy.....great pedal.......Paul has become one of my all time favorite guitar guys. Great licks and a great sense of humor. That was a long, but awesome video.
Props to Josh for strapping in and going for it.... and then PG totally grabs that fuzz tone and goes into orbit. Then the Michael McDonald stuff.... lord. Talented, smart, funny guys.
PG has always been other worldly as a guitarist but in a room just jamming I bet it would be relaxing and fun with Paul Gilbert. He's found the key to happiness. Rock on, Paul!
Always loved Paul Gilbert but this is seriously the best interview/demo I’ve seen of his, largely due to the fantastic style and personality of Josh. They are so at ease with each other and it’s so funny in places . Plus I think I need that pedal now too , ha ha 😊👍🏻
Not that I'd ever want PG to stop playing guitar...but these two were hilarious together and should take the Comedy show on the road!!!! the pedal sounds amazing!!
I just can't get enough of watching PG!! I wasn't always a fan but as I was researching the Dimarzio Air Classics, I am blown away by his knowledge, playing and super cool personality. It's opened a new door for learning and an appreciation for tasteful phrasing and tone. The pedal sounds Amazing !!
Josh Scott sharing a room with PG's skills.. he stuck to flippant sarcasm well, like a cat clinging to a ledge above water, or a fear grimace to escape danger. Well done, Josh.
*Please do a Part 2!* Two off my most favorite guitar ppl on YT....Yeahhhhhh Besides the great playing and sounds those two are soooo entertaining. Just a pleasure listen to them, i request a regular podcast. ❤
When that dude took the guitar from Paul, I was like, "Holy Fright! Are you serious?!!" 😂 Met Paul at a Satriani camp a few years ago. By far the nicest guy at the entire thing.
Paul is my definition of a guitarist. I love my JHS Prestige pedal, dsl1watt tube Marshall head, 2-12 slanted Marshall cab, and a vox wha pedal. PRS custom, just the se. Took decades to find that combination. That's it, I'm done looking, this is my tone. It's awesome. Thanks Josh. No band, self enjoyment.
Shoes, shenanigans, and rock 'n roll 🤘Let us know what you think of the new JHS PG-14 in the comments👍Like and subscribe for more tasty tonal tools!
Sweetwater love PG, Josh, and Sweetwater!! And my sweetwater rep Paul Lea!!! Great job Sweetwater!!!
Shweet! I know I loved it indeed... Can't wait to acquire the PG-14... Keep more Josh/Paul stuff comin' Sweetwater! Commission them to do more pedals! I'll buy them all.
It sounds like another 2 weeks of oatmeal and baked beans, is what it sounds like to me. B******s!
These guys are awesome. You should do this more often dudes. I need this pedal now.
RUclips needs more videos like this.
Paul Gilbert has got to be one of the coolest guitarists ever
E V E R the modest MASTER
How dare you oversimplify god like that...
One of the coolest people ever.
I totally agree.. i love this guy
He’s the Jeff Goodblum of music!
this should be a monthly show. Like a concert but also a comedy. Love it!
Cool idea! 😎
Josh and Paul have weird senses of humor that really compliment each other.
@Ron Gillespie Yeah, he makes me nervous.
Dry and Silly not cynical, I love them!
One could say .. they stack well!
They react each others jokes like, "Yeah, I would have said that." instead of laughing.
Think about it, they are two nerds nerding it out with guitar stuff.
This was probably one of the most fun and entertaining pedal demos I’ve ever seen. You guys are hilarious together
I could watch these two demoing gear and bull shitting for hours! They need a Sweetwater gear podcast I'd say.
Josh said, "I play alot of power chords, it's harder than what you do" 😂😂
That came out of left field. It cracked me up.
Great people pairing
This has everything; FET circuit explanation, the intricate relation between shoe size and the physics of sound, French aristocracy vs. dragon suits, tons and tons of legendary licks, awesome playing and two guys guitarsplaining all of it. Benchmark stuff!
This is the greatest video Sweetwater has ever done.
They should do a podcast lol
Yeah one in which they try old and weird distortion pedals would be great!
I would love to see that!
I'd def tune in for that!! :)
This video is ridiculous. It has no right to be this good. If those two guys made a channel where they only did stuff like this, they could quit their other jobs.
I want to buy that pedal just to remind me that this product demo exists. I might never plug it in. Plugging it in would just be disrespectful at this point.
Josh is the Eugene Mirman of the guitar universe.
Paul Glbert is a dang national treasure and this interviewer is wonderful. Hysterical. Pedal sounds killer too.
J: I play more power chords than you because they're harder than this fast stuff you're doing, that's easy.
P: Yeah, i don't commit to a note, you make commitments.
Best episode ever. My sides
Paul Gilbert and Josh Scott need their own RUclips channel. These videos are pure gold!
Love Paul Gilbert. Great player and human juke box. Josh is a great pedal builder, very knowledgeable and has a great channel. Together they’re gold.
These two guys could have a TV series. They’re such a great combination!
Paul has reinvented himself, it's good to do this every now and then.
I miss GOOMY, SFBADR and Fuzz Universe Paul.
@@austintyler8567 SFBADR : "Norwegian Cowbell" is da bomb!!
@@pauljohnson1065 That string skipping section was such a great thing to learn. That opened some new doors for me.
He looks like he might be joining Devo shortly for a tour - right after a Talking Heads European leg
I love how Paul Gilbert is such a giant Van Halen nerd.
U guy’s compliment each other in the best duo of dry humor. Love it and I love the pedal
Thanks Sweetwater for putting these two goofs together. What a riot!
Aside from the pedal sounding wonderful, it's a blast just hearing these guys BS.
EGGZACKLY
thing is .. you can see both of them are really having a good time not breaking face and luaghing .. sorry for uncorrect spelled english
Yeah but love the playing more.
Le Mao
Josh to Paul:
"I'll teach You later."
lmao! Loving it!!!
These guys mesh sooo well!
P.Gilbert is AMAZING! One of the few 80's BadAss Shredders that kept Growing/Learning since those days...
Its a pleasure seeing his Skills Grow & Grow.... Respect Master Gilbert.
"Do you have a dragon suit?"
Hahahah
These two need a monthly show together!
I second that!
Yesssss
Yes the infamous Jimmy Page dragon suit
Its great to see someone demonstrate a pedal (especially a drive pedal) with different amps. The amp really does make a difference in the overall tone and shows the versatility of the pedal. Well done boys!
I played with Paul a few years ago. IT WAS THE BEST DAY OF MY LIFE!
Ive been to a few where He did that (Around his 'King of Clubs' days) And He's such a Modest, Nice & Accommodating Master of the 6 String. He's Truely an Inspiration!
Your favorite guitarist's, favorite guitarist! Paul Gilbert
Sweetwater stepping up it's RUclips game.
Yes, totally fresh feel from the Mitch and Don show
its
Pauls playing is nearly as sharp as his suit :P
OMG this was totally hilarious. Paul and Josh are incredible people and very humble I didn't expect this interview to be so comical.
Josh, you and Paul are a riot together. I'm sold on that pedal. The TONE!!!!
These guys are gold together! They should do music store tours.
Josh and Paul are a great comedy duo - they should have their own RUclips channel
Paul Gilbert is so entertaining, his guitar humor is great, doesn't take himself too seriously, and of course he's a monster player.
that parametric mid preamp is so mind blowingly powerful man, the range is ridiculous. with push on max i haven't played anything more satisfying than the PG-14, being able to hear it completely fall apart and fold over like an amp that's on fire, all from a little pedal, then you can scoop all the mids out just the way you like it no matter what you're running it into...it negates the necessity to mod anything, having the capability to sweep it to preference, so versatile.

🙌🙌
Siggy Guitarist
That’s Josh Scott of JHS Pedals. He designs and builds pedals, has a line of different pedals.
Best video ever. 2 awesome guys, dozens of great riffs, ONE amazing pedal.
They're both so charismatic and PG's playing is sho smooth and awesome that I could watch this video even if it lasted for hours!

Paul is so sick. Dude can play.

Clean distortion! There needs to be a JHS episode on this. I've called it that internally but never heard anyone else actually mention it.

We need a record time podcast with Josh and Paul. They play and discus clips from records they like. I think it would be fantastic.
That is an awesome idea.
Josh's sarcasm is hilarious
"Don't setup the drums yet" PG
What s laugh
What an AWESOME demo. So much great information. Paul is an absolute legend.
These two need to do more together, they play off each other so well. Dry ass sarcasm with straight faces. So great!
My first amp was a Jazz Chorus, and it went with me to almost every gig I had for about three years. Great-if not best-amp I’ve had.
The pedal sounds great! I loved the video! I need more Josh Paul videos!
You know he travels the world when in giant letters on his pedal board it says “120V”. Someone must have blown it up in the past.
Lol, Ikr!!!
He has two identical boards, one for US (120V) and one for Europa/Asia (220V). Only the power supplies are different.
First thing I thought too. "Now that's a sign that something bad happened."
Funny that you could, at his level, have a universal power supply that supplies the board and you could put 120V, 240V, 50 or 60Hz in.
There is a video with Paul and Josh going over Pauls pedalboard where he explains why he has the 120V on there, it's exactly as you said!
I don’t know who I’d rather hang out with between Josh or Paul, and Paul has been my guitar hero for forever 🤷🏼♂️
loved it, Paul and Josh played off of each other wonderfully. Oh and yes the pedal is amazing!
Who would have thought during the Racer X days that Paul Gilbert would one day become a master of playing slide? This video is outstanding.
Ya that slide was blistering and brilliant
Such a freaking nerd Fest... I love it! I could watch these two together for hours. I love when Paul goes Yacht Rock... Even better yet... Captain and Tennille.

I don't know if I'm in a really great freaking mood or if I just love watching Josh and Paul together in the same video! I'm digging this pedal too!
That mean street rendition on Josh’s settings was killer !!!!!
The fact that they got 40 minutes out of such a limited topic and made it entertaining is awesome.
This pairing is amazing 👏 Josh inspired me to start modding my pedals a while back and Paul got me back to practicing hahaha
Paul is hysterical. Such an awesome dude, very down to earth cool cat. Always had nice times chatting with him over the years.
