Lexus RCF : Easier to handle, better sorted suspension , won't kill you on a track, tons more reliable. V8 engine won't die from heat soak unlike M4's high strung twin turbo in-line 6. Why is BMW even considered the driver's choice again?????

yes the M4 "sounds like a crappy modified honda " wins but to me the exhaust note is a deal breaker so ill go with the RCF . Nothing can beat a naturally aspirated v8 .

Crap comparison guys. Small circuit where power is never explored and drifting, why? You are really the dogs dinner of car reviewers at the second Autocar, poor show again.

Oh man, I went to a dealership with my parents and they started the RCF for us. The car is so beautiful in person. Pictures don't do it justice. You need the whole experience, the sound, the light reflecting off the paint. Lexus you've done good.

I would take the Lexus. Sure it's heavier and slower, but that is like saying one super model is less pretty than another super model. The Lexus will be a lot rarer, a bit more exotic really. I think its the cooler car.

Thank you Matt, I always love your unbiased and balanced view on cars. Most reviewers pick the M4 just because it's a bmw, it's got more power or it appears to be the sharper of the two. But few of them actually acknowledge or discuss how the turbos negatively affect the driving experience and that sharpness might, in fact, be a result of poor chassis tuning (e.g. adaptive damping calibration) that leads to it feeling artificial and snappy through corners at times. At the end of the day, the RCF is more natural and neutral of the two to drive and as a driver you feel more comfortable and confident whether you're crusing on the highway or going flat out on your favourite B road or track in it. For the same reason, it's also probable that the Lexus will actually be the faster of the two in the real world in the hands of people like us.

I hope they start making RCF out of aluminum. They will have a winner. I prefer Lexus

I'm an owner of an E92 M3 and I'm not remotely excited by the new M3/M4. I'm not entirely sure why, because I've seen and heard a few in person and they look and sound better than you'd imagine judging from videos and the performance in a straight line and on track is far better than the E92. There's just something about it that I can't really explain that I don't like and it's certainly not just because it doesn't have a V8 as I was/am a big fan of the E46 M3 aswell. At the same time I'm not really a fan of the the Lexus either, it doesn't seem like it offers anything over the E92 other than it'll be far more exclusive. I think I must have seen 100+ E92 M3s and in the same time about 3 IS-Fs, and I imagine it'll be a similar ratio of M3/M4 to RC-F on the roads. That being said, the drag race on this video definitely overstates the difference in straight line performance between these 2 cars. The M3/M4 is definitely quicker than the Lexus, but the RC-F simply has to be faster than 13.69s @ 111.6mph. Even a 2 generation old E46 M3 runs the 1/4 mile faster than that and the old Lexus IS-F was into the 12s with around about the same trap speed in several road tests. Perhaps the new C63 AMG will excite me more than either of these cars

I've learned to really like this Lexus. Sounds good and better than the bmw, it's more composed, it's fast enough, more comfortable, and it's just as economical. It's also more rare than the BMW, will probably depreciate less and, and this is my opinion, is also just as or more pretty than the BMW. Good job Lexus. And good job BMW! All great cars, but Lexus is my choice.
