that scene touched me very much. specially when vincent says: i lost my family, it meant a lot to me... so deeply honest, sad, wise, lonely and also full of his belive.... i hope there will be once a directors cut with all in it. vincent and chris are playing that scene so wonderful and honest. imagine what kind of hard life, at that time for human beeings who had familiys, with al that danger around...

My guess is the same reason for all the cut scenes in Aliens, studio execs are brain dead and they start drooling if there isn't an action scene every 10 minutes.
Why are they having breakfast at 11am to 1pm, depending on where North is? I guess commitment to the art means not shooting a 'morning' scene until just before lunch.
All these deleted scenes were very character driven. I would have liked to see them in the main story.

Its the lack of scenes like this that make the movie less memorable than it should be considering how good the actors and original were

Because it had God in it. Hollywood is very sensitive about religion and appropriate only when catering to others.

I liked the character of Jack. This scene should have stayed in, and Jack should have survived. Alas, the white guys had to die. More's the pity.
