The pottery duck @ 17:18 is a Margaret Hudson piece. She had quite a following in the CA Central Valley. I have several of her pieces that my husband bought for me in Fresno, CA. PS you may want to check the volume level on your video- I had to turn mine up to full volume to hear you - then got blasted out with every commercial break.
Has anyone mentioned the volume of your videos? I wish you could turn it up. Love watching your finds, but I can barely hear you without turning my phone up to the highest point and then the ads blast my ears. Just a suggestion.
iT's called a Grolla, and yes, you fill it with some type of wine and pass it around. My parents owned one- it was gifted to them when they were visiting relatives in Italy
Haha! I didn’t see a single penguin! I was so sad. I am the keeper of penguins! I only have 2 right now but if I find them for $20 or less, I get them. Anytime I take them to a get together, somebody comments they’d like one. I like to keep a backstock for 🎁! My daughter in law does parties for work and family, and she, my son, and her brother are all gourmet cooks. At Christmas she did a kinda charcuterie table for work and she used it fot something hot. She said she could use another one and I just happened to have an extra. And my granddaughter didn’t have one, so I had one for her.
That Picasso inspired art was FABULOUS! Those blue napkins with the white embroidery looked like maybe those were bees? Love the fashion drawings! And I am so grateful for your eclectic style! It’s so inspiring! Thanks for showing us Reno!
You're right about the Italian friendship cup! It's for friendship coffee! I found one for $15 a couple months ago at a thrift store. When I did my research I learned that friendship coffee is coffee with alcohol.😊
I had to giggle because you had already signed off and there you were in another thrift shop. i'm glad you found the Betosis! They are so cute. And the Squash Blossom! Wow!
Mmmk. I haven't even started watching it yet; I wanted to comment to say how excited I was to see that a new Laura Caldwell video was up **AND** it's 41 minutes long, toooo?!? ❤🙌🥰
Laura, I can't believe that you collect boxes, pottery and Native American jewelry like myself! I love going on adventures with you. You can say that I'm old enough to be vintage too, LOL!
LOL! the corn on the cob pans, I had two one from my mother in law and one from her mother. I gave them to my daughter, who made brownies in them, frosted with fudge frosting and called them "turds" for a themed Halloween party
Hi! I happen to be watching an older video today. That vase in the live edge wood is actually an oil lamp. You can put clear or colored oil in the vessel and you drop a wick inside. There’s a little stopper on the wick that keeps it from going all the way through the top. I have one as my husband bought one for me as a gift because I had been wanting one. Up in Fortuna, California at a Redwood burl shop. I live in Mendocino county and they are popular up here. Love love love your videos! I have learned so much about MCM from watching you. Thank you
I get so excited when you have a new video! I get kind of hypnotized while watching all the great things you find. Not only are your videos fun, but they're also very educational.
I have one of the friendship cup. You pour liquor in and then it is passed around and everyone has one hole to drink from. I got it in a small village in the Aosta valley in northern Italy. They are generally hand carved from a nice wooden piece. Quite intriguing, no?
I've lived in Reno for 6 years and sometimes you will find some really good stuff in Goodwill as well! I wished I looked around more back then, but I am back home in Vegas now. I hope I can find a good deal on some art deco pieces / furniture.
A few years back, I found a great St. Vincent de Paul thrift in Reno. Amazing clothing and prices. Also, if you're ever in Winnemucca, you need to find the Frugal Flamingo.
At the timestamp 15:30 those those are borrow glass rods they are worth a pretty penny to the flame Work glassworker. Shoot, I wish I were there I would’ve bought those in a heartbeat.
I make cornbread regularly in my Cast iron cornbread pans. Probably not vintage but I don't remember where I got them. I've had then probably 40 years. 39:04 They are great with gumbo.
I see a lot of comments about the sound levels. Just wanted to say I watched the video first on my TV using my Roku device and the levels were fine. I watched it again on my iPad and definitely noticed the same problem others have mentioned. Maybe it's an issue between RUclips and Apple devices?
I'm on a Samsung android phone and b bad to turn it way up to hear, then got blasted out with the ads. Watched it first on my television and levels were fine!
I live in Virginia City, NV, and I used to shop Reno thrift stores years ago. I didn't know about the first 3 places, but I'm glad you found Junkee's. I spent a lot of time lots of time and cash when I was there last. Both my daughter and I love it there. She takes in her clothes and gets credit for other clothes! Last time we both were there, she had to have an armadillo purse with red gemstone eyes! I didn"t know the other places either! I got some shoppin' to do! That was a fun trip and only 35 mins. away from my home!!!!
23:50 Italian here 🙋🏻♀😊 This is what I know about it: the "Friendship Cup" (Coppa dell'Amicizia) or Grolla Valdostana (Valdostana means that it comes from the Valle d'Aosta region) it's both a piece of craftsmanship and a convivial and friendly ritual of sharing. It's equipped with a variable number of spouts and you pour Coffe in it (made earlier with a classic Moka) then add Grappa and Genepì with sugar, I think. Sprinkle the spouts and the rim of the cup as well. Mix the coffee and let it rest for a few minutes. I think you should also light the fire to burn the alcool but I'm not completely sure about it. I need to study more 😅Pass the cup clockwise (someone would say the other way around though.....) in the group of friends. Don't put the cup on the table between one step and another. That's all I know, hope it helped a little. Ciao Laura! ☀🇮🇹
Laura your so lucky finding all those beautiful things guess what? Our small town has a new vintage ,antique amount new Mexican pottery its call THE STORES AND I WENT TWO DAYS IN A ROW FOUND ME SOME BEAUTIFUL THINGS IM SO GLAD WE HAVE A STORE LIKE THAT NOW😃🥰🦋🦋🦋🌻🌻🌻🐝
Yes, on the corn muffin pan , it was my 2nd great grandmother's.. It is in perfect condition and I yes, I do use it. I have family cast iron. Among many other things .
The ceramic bird is by the amazing artist Margaret Hudson. I think you would love her body of work. Her focus is animals just like our beloved Lisa Larson.
Reno for antiquing and thrifting-who knew?! Thanks for taking me along. Those Bitosi birds! I really enjoyed the groovy music that you chose for this video.
Wooooowwwwww, awesome 👌 findings. I can't stop saying WOW with every finds. Enjoy, you have the whole 🌎 in your car 🚗. With love from SAM Guwahati, Assam, India 🇮🇳 ♥️
Watched a video today where you asked if anyone was interested in a travel trip with you. Can’t find the video now but the answer is yes! My friend and I would love a trip to Japan!!!
Wonderful!! The Japan trip is live for booking and we have a handful of spots left. We just wrapped up our two group trips in Italy and we had the best time 🥰 Here is the link to the Japan trip trovatrip.com/trip/asia/japan/japan-with-laura-caldwell-apr-2024 We’ll be visiting antique shops and flea markets in the free time as a group for anyone who wants to join or you’ll be free to see other sites on your own. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at hello@leftcoastrevivals.com ❤️
These places have been so jam packed with treasures. Must have been hard to keep to a schedule. I’ll bet you could’ve spent DAYS in Reno. What a lot of history in this Wild West place!
I love a good road trip/thrift experience! My mom and I once traveled the back roads from Missouri to Utah and stopped at the garage sales. It was a blast!
I really enjoy your channel! I learn alot, feel like I shopping with you and appreciate your opinions on the beauty, prices and different possibilities of the pieces! I also really enjoyed the video that you did about the business side of selling your finds! Excellent!
Wow! I just was watching your Italy tour on Jeffrey’s channel thinking I really needed to get my passport renewed so I could visit cousins in Northern Italy, when this Reno visit popped up. This is where I was born and where a lot of my family settled. There is a lot of history there and there was a lot of Italians that settled there. I’m surprised you did not find more Italian pottery. Yes, a lot of interesting people lived in Reno in the 40’s and 50’s. My mother had a lot of interesting stories (she worked as a bookkeeper for the Reno PD). It’s been a while since I was done there ( I live in your area) but now I will have to check out their thrift stores and maybe some pawn shops ( people pawn some interesting things to fund their gambling) too. Love your videos……keep them coming!
Your knowledge amazes me. I learn so much. I not only enjoy the hunt of the thrifting video, but I feel like I get a mini education so thank you for that. This was yet another great video Miss Laura!!
You need to go to Sardinia, specially in Cagliari. We have a lot of beautiful thrift shops with amount of sardinian art made with cork, special textile and more. ❤ And beaches and views are very fantastics if you want to go for vacstions.
I used to watch Robin Leachs show all the time. I loved it. So far you have some amazing pieces and im so excited to see them together. You take tge ordinary and make it fabulous. Someone mentioned the volume of your videos. They can be loud sometimes just fyi.

I agree; you really have to struggle to hear her. 💙
It didn't do that on my TV. 🤔
I was watching from my phone, and the volume was fine for me.
Yes, those pieces fetch quite a price in the CA central valley
I had to turn my laptop up to 100 and them play with the speaker volume during commercials. Can't always be perfect.
Does anyone else check every day, for a new video from Laura???
Has anyone mentioned the volume of your videos? I wish you could turn it up. Love watching your finds, but I can barely hear you without turning my phone up to the highest point and then the ads blast my ears. Just a suggestion.
Same.
Agree
Agree
SAME!!
Thank you. I noticed it too!
The wooden Italian bowl is a “grolla” and you make a specific alcoholic drink in it and yes, you pass it around. It’s traditional of Aosta valley.
And a very good alcoholic drink i might add 😅
Thank you Laura! I’ve been in & out of the hospital for the past year, I miss thrifting & your videos make my heart happy
Laura please turn the volume up. Some of us are older. ❤️
iT's called a Grolla, and yes, you fill it with some type of wine and pass it around. My parents owned one- it was gifted to them when they were visiting relatives in Italy
Congratulations on the Bitossis! I'm supposed to be working but now I have thrifting on the mind.
Haha! I didn’t see a single penguin! I was so sad. I am the keeper of penguins! I only have 2 right now but if I find them for $20 or less, I get them. Anytime I take them to a get together, somebody comments they’d like one. I like to keep a backstock for 🎁!

She said she could use another one and I just happened to have an extra. And my granddaughter didn’t have one, so I had one for her.
There was a penguin cocktail shaker she pointed out when she found the monkey and bear and cockerel shakers x
Not a shaker. A West Bend insulated ice bucket.
That Picasso inspired art was FABULOUS! Those blue napkins with the white embroidery looked like maybe those were bees? Love the fashion drawings! And I am so grateful for your eclectic style! It’s so inspiring! Thanks for showing us Reno!

I can hear you perfectly! I love thrifting with you!!!
I literally just sit and wait each day for you to post and binge watch you until a new one comes!!😍
I know, right?!
I travel by myself and I think it would be fun to pick a destination just to go picking. Texas here I Come. You make it look fun
Me, too! It's the first think I think about now, and wish I'd done it years ago on previous trips.
wow...the squash necklace is amazing!!!
Yes! Volume needs adjusting. I love that you found all the bowls.❤
I’m so amazed how you can remember all the designers’ names, details about the styles, and values! It’s so much knowledge/information to memorize!
I have never see fashion illustrations like that, they’re gorgeous
That squash blossom necklace is stunning❗️😍
Most of the items in my house came from flea market in Europe when we were stationed overseas 72-96.
I really enjoy your videos! Jessie is very funny. I'm learning something new every time I watch!
The “pokey” thing is a floral frog. Put in bottom of vase for flower stems. PS I can hear you just fine.
i am amazed that you picked up three random pieces and they look like you planned it, your style shines through
Welcome to Reno! I've lived here for almost 3 years and hadn't been to all these stores - thanks for the tour!
LOL! the corn on the cob pans, I had two one from my mother in law and one from her mother. I gave them to my daughter, who made brownies in them, frosted with fudge frosting and called them "turds" for a themed Halloween party
😅
My hometown! Yay Reno!!! Yes, the volume is low. Love your creativity so much;)))
The blossom necklace was Fab.
Your thrifting adventures are GOALS!!!

That cornear cornbread pan is all I have from my Big Momma/Mother! Yes, I have made cornbread sticks in it!🙏🏾💜🦋💛
Yummy!!!
I get so excited when you have a new video! I get kind of hypnotized while watching all the great things you find. Not only are your videos fun, but they're also very educational.

Those wooden bowls I use to stack my pottery bowls. Sets them up nicely
I've lived in Reno for 6 years and sometimes you will find some really good stuff in Goodwill as well! I wished I looked around more back then, but I am back home in Vegas now. I hope I can find a good deal on some art deco pieces / furniture.

I think its a mic thing. Her sound is often a little thin sounding even if the volume is ok.
Love the matchy matchy.
OMG!! The Bitossi birds are such a great find. I have two and yours are at a wonderful price.!!!
Yes there are some ducks that have a buff of feathers on their head. I found a hand carved wooden duck last month,
I live in Virginia City, NV, and I used to shop Reno thrift stores years ago. I didn't know about the first 3 places, but I'm glad you found Junkee's. I have papers full of addresses of places to shop. I appreciate that you share that with us!
I've made corn sticks in my Griswald pans. Heat them well before you fill them with batter. Thanks for reminding me, ...

Hi, Laura! What great finds you got at the Reno shops. Love the video! 🥰👍💜
I've enjoyed your road trip from Oregon to Las Vegas and back. Thanks
Does anyone else struggle to hear the videos?? I really miss hearing Laura's videos!.. all my volumes are at 100%.....any help out there?? Thanks!
Whoa a commercial just came on and it was loud!! suggestions??
If she records her sound louder than we won't have to have the volume turned up so high on our videos and get blasted when the constituents come on
Mine is turned down to about 1/4 and it’s just fine. :)
I've notice that in some videos the music is a bit Londres and anothers is just fine...I guess it varies from one ro another...
Great video! Love all your choices. 😊💖
Yes, the cornbread turns out so yummy and the shape is fun with stew, chili etc. You've had a great day!
OK, I have two vases at home. One small and the other large, depending on the size of the flowers.
Love the painting, zebra planter, linen napkins, Italian vase❤
I sold the vintage Restoration Hardware polar bear cocktail shaker a couple of years ago. That was such a fun piece to find!
Oh boy! Here we go!! 💖
Love the brass box also❤
Your knowledge amazes me. I learn so much. I not only enjoy the hunt of the thrifting video, but I feel like I get a mini education so thank you for that. This was yet another great video Miss Laura!!
Yes please try to increase volume
Yes i have those cast iron corn molds and have made corn bread in them several times. 😄
You need to go to Sardinia, specially in Cagliari. We have a lot of beautiful thrift shops with amount of sardinian art made with cork, special textile and more. ❤

Amazing stores and finds. I think a road trip to reno is in my future. ❤❤❤❤ the first store!
I had that same "art deco" lamp in the early 80's.
