its for children though. and if you buy all of the art supplies separate crayola on amazon, with their ridiculous higher taxes and shipping cost it is 50 bucks. if you go into the store and buy it its around 30 dollars with tax, but chloe didnt do that. if she was just reviewing the items and bout them from the store and paid that, its different. but for the items, the shipping cost, and the production cost for the box (the cardboard box and the padding inside it), the value is 50. if i was 8 i wouldve loved to have had this. im a painter and a baker now, so of ofc now i wouldnt, and im only 17 so i feel if i wasnt an artist at this age i prob would still love it as something to do with my cousins. it legit said kids paint on the box, parents want paint that can easily wash out, not quality paint that its hard to wash out and is a hardewr medium to work with than thinner washable paint for kids. i had model magic at the age of 9 and i personally loved it. it was just fun, i do not think 6-12 year olds are thinking about making high quality art, rather than a artist like chloe would. also they didnt use plastic for the environment, something a bigger company wouldnt care about. amazon art supplies are higher quality but for one pack of paint brushes i got SO much plastic. so i feel for kids for making something for fun that they will forget about a week later, its not worth ruining the environment. the last thing is if you bought all of these items from a higher rated art supplies store, it would be way more than forty dollars, so for kids using it just to destroy it seems unnecessary. i just feel its ab perspective.

Honestly, the supplies on the first box weren't $15 either, so both boxes were severely overpriced. But that is the standard problem with subscription boxes. They get things even cheaper than the general public price it, and then jack the price higher than the highest price people will likely find.
How much does the lesson plan development cost? How much does the graphic design of the lesson plan cost? How much does the marketing cost so that you even know about the box? How much does it cost to pay the accountants and material sourcing people to put together the box? How much does customer service cost? How much does it cost for the web page for the box? If you can put together something yourself, you should. You pay for all these services when you can't or don't have the time, the same as every other service.
@@MilwaukeeWoman Subscription boxes claim to give you more than the value you pay for it. It would be easy to make the boxes yourself. You can download patterns online for free. Its expected to at least have a $50 value in the boxes. Which there isnt. This isnt supposed to include the goodies in, because they are supposed to be additional. I was wondering that about all the crafts, unless you have a very gifted 7 year old. If an adult artist is struggling, how do they expect a child to get on with the projects?
Well, I don't want to be mean, but she does seem a bit on the clumsy side. I don't know if I was just a patient child, but because I didn't rush I never really hurt myself (with scissors, pins, needles, sewing machines...). I think Chloe is a wonderful artist, which is why I watch her, but she doesn't seem to have much love for crafts 😅
Idk man, kids can be really pacient since they dont really have any real responsabilities and can waste time all they want. I know I invested a LOT more time in my art projects as a kid then nowdays.
Honestly you should never do string art with pins anyway as you need a certain amount of tension, all string art i have seen has been with thin nails, also cork is too soft, the nails or pins will move and it's not conducive to making the craft work
The Crayola rep will excerpt the following statement and send it to his boss @14:00 "-That looks quite cool. I actually like that.I'm happy with how that came out!" - Chloe Rose
I work at an arts and craft supply store and seeing the contents of that second box makes me wanna throw it at the wall and scream. The items in that box? All of those items combined - and of higher quality, i might add - you'd get for less than 20€ at our store. And that includes a RED color too, so you could at least mix all the colors on a colorwheel.
Not including red keeps kids from mixing ugly browns and grays. It's a quick craft kit, not full art instruction.
@@MilwaukeeWoman Concept development, graphic design, customer service, and marketing doesn't explain why Crayola's traditional craft kits, available at box-stores and online, are $15 dollars instead of $40 dollars. Also, we can learn by experimentation, failure should always be an option, but if the kit actually explained any color theory to kids, which is cheap to do when they're including full-color instructions already, then they'll learn how to effectively mix colors. That's valuable for a budding artist, especially if they want NICE browns and grays that aren't just murky versions but intentional results. If they're painting a nice doggo, friendly kitty, cute elephant, or a fearsome shark, they might want brown or gray. You're just excusing bad practices...
I actually really enjoy art box unboxing channels. I like seeing what art things are out there, how to use them, and what people can no with them. Especially, when it's one of my favourite channels that is opening them 💜
You're showing us crafts we could do with kids for literally $5-15 if we're just willing to go to the craft store instead of waiting for an overpriced box to arrive.
There are hidden expenses like creating the activity, designing and printing the booklet, warehouse packers. But the price is high compared to other subscription boxes and does look incomplete. You keep being you, you're gorgeous! XX
And graphic design of the booklet costs, marketing of the box, customer service, etc. Lawyers, accountants, safety testers (since this is for kids.) I doubt the profit is very high. People undervalue work they can't see. They think a booklet is only worth the cost of a scrap of paper.
@@MilwaukeeWoman I mean, I feel like that's not really relevant though. If I have the option to buy one cucumber that has a designed packaging and one that has clear plastic wrap, I'm still gonna judge if they price the packaged one at 2 dollars more, even if it was because they needed someone to make the designed package. It's still stupid no matter how you phrase it :P

The difference between these and the jazza boxes is that other boxes like to see how much they can charge to get the most product for the least amount of things - and jazza is about trying to pack as much value into a collection as possible
I agree with the price issue. BUT to help make the smudge paint stencil issue. When its done just outline with contrasting paint marker or just black and BOOM gives a watercolor vibe and makes the image to where you know what it is 😊 hope you see this!

Yes, totally agree. Some subscription boxes short change their subscribers and have forgotten the reason why people sign up for them. They want to try new art materials for a cheaper price than when we have to go buy them in full size at the store. Instead, they get smaller supplies and amount for more than regular full set prices.
I personally love the unboxing videos - there's something refreshing about seeing a traditional artist try 'arts & crafts'. A bit funny, a bit stressful (for those of us crafters who aren't good with traditional mediums) & just generally wholesome.
Can just picture the convo for these boxes. Boss hog: Hey, we are gonna make an art subscription box, jump on the bandwagon! Peon:Cool! Boss hog: Come up with a couple crafts, go into the warehouse, and pick out supplies for about fifty bucks. Peon: Fifteen bucks, got it!
I love watching your videos, they're fun! A few observations: 1) One of the reasons the stencils didn't work well is that you're supposed to stipple (forcefully "pounce") the paint with a stiff brush, not brush the paint across the stencil. 2) For children it's often a good idea to limit the palette of colors so they don't end up with "mud" ;) And I totally agree that the price is high. 3) On the other hand, if you are looking at it from a parent's point of view, they have a once a month box with a craft for each week of the month, so eh, not great but could be convenient. and 4) I would have tried to cut the watercolor palette into individual pieces and just put the whole piece into a cup of water ;)
I admit to watching a lot of craft videos. This is the best craft video I've seen in my entire life! You're the best, I laughed so hard, I... Fill in the blank!

yeah i was thinking but are they REALLY a great brand.....?
its for children though. and if you buy all of the art supplies separate crayola on amazon, with their ridiculous higher taxes and shipping cost it is 50 bucks. if you go into the store and buy it its around 30 dollars with tax, but chloe didnt do that. if she was just reviewing the items and bout them from the store and paid that, its different. but for the items, the shipping cost, and the production cost for the box (the cardboard box and the padding inside it), the value is 50. if i was 8 i wouldve loved to have had this. im a painter and a baker now, so of ofc now i wouldnt, and im only 17 so i feel if i wasnt an artist at this age i prob would still love it as something to do with my cousins. it legit said kids paint on the box, parents want paint that can easily wash out, not quality paint that its hard to wash out and is a hardewr medium to work with than thinner washable paint for kids. i had model magic at the age of 9 and i personally loved it. it was just fun, i do not think 6-12 year olds are thinking about making high quality art, rather than a artist like chloe would. also they didnt use plastic for the environment, something a bigger company wouldnt care about. amazon art supplies are higher quality but for one pack of paint brushes i got SO much plastic. so i feel for kids for making something for fun that they will forget about a week later, its not worth ruining the environment. the last thing is if you bought all of these items from a higher rated art supplies store, it would be way more than forty dollars, so for kids using it just to destroy it seems unnecessary. i just feel its ab perspective.
100% Not an Unboxing Channel 😂 x
Jazza:o woah she has opened so many art boxes
Chloe:I think I’m becoming an art subscription box unboxer
Chloe I love your videos they really helped me find a good art box and make me laugh every time

@@rosesarered8213 Idk what she gets But if you have a local Hobby Lobby by you I reccommend that and there is also amazon!
Hi which art box are you subscribed to?
Honestly, the supplies on the first box weren't $15 either, so both boxes were severely overpriced. But that is the standard problem with subscription boxes. They get things even cheaper than the general public price it, and then jack the price higher than the highest price people will likely find.
selbarton stonks👩🏻🦲 📈
"I'm not crafty" *selects expert string art*
Me: amazing.
The twine, yarn, pins, hoop, Corkboard, and templates from the second box also isnt more than $15
How much does the lesson plan development cost?
The cost to make the box and market it should not count. Almost all subscription boxes usually give you more than your money's worth, or exactly your money's worth. I don't think you've seen many subscription boxes, huh?

The “cobweb thing” was supposed to be a dream catcher
I was wondering if anyone else was bothered by that lol
Also, the closure on the canvas bag is called a snap.
Reason I was looking in the comments lol but do a lot of people outside of America see dream catchers regularly? Since they are a native American thing maybe not?
In canada we have alot of native culture to. Maybe evem more than in the US because of the tribes in nunavut and also the residential schools that were prominent around 30 ish years ago
@@eatass yeah, when I say America I mean all of North, south and Central America. All have similar native traditions. I live fairly close to Canada so we probably have similar native traditions in our area as some parts of Canada
If Chloe has literally obliterated her fingers poking pins into paper how in the world is a 7 year old child gonna do it???
Edit:Damn all of you were very patient and naturally talented 7 year olds. Bc I definitley couldn't do anything at age 7 apart from pick my nose.
I was wondering that about all the crafts, unless you have a very gifted 7 year old. If an adult artist is struggling, how do they expect a child to get on with the projects?
@@katw6757 Exactly!
Honestly you should never do string art with pins anyway as you need a certain amount of tension, all string art i have seen has been with thin nails, also cork is too soft, the nails or pins will move and it's not conducive to making the craft work
I think you rip of the paper after the string. I could be 100% wrong tho.
i would turn out better lol
Well she was doing it according to the instruction, wasn't it?
@@milkeyway7105 maybe she misread? I dunno, makes more sense to me too to rip after stringing..
You could, but it would be harder to get off
I think you're right. Otherwise, there's no guide for stringing it.

I got them for a 1$ and I actually love them. 😂
@@HarleyWithWings of course coz you got it for 1$ lol
You can get really descent paintbrushes for less at ikea! They also have really nice acrylic paint if you want a small amount.
Not including red keeps kids from mixing ugly browns and grays. It's a quick craft kit, not full art instruction.
@@MilwaukeeWoman That's honestly such a dumb excuse. Crayola is a huge company, they don't even need a ton of marketing.
Especially, when it's one of my favourite channels that is opening them 💜
Me too. I currently unbox ArtSnacks and Paleeteful each month on my channel :) I Iove them!
@@aartadventure well I will have to subscribe to you then!
You're showing us crafts we could do with kids for literally $5-15 if we're just willing to go to the craft store instead of waiting for an overpriced box to arrive.
That's literally what she's complaining about.
That's literally what she said
Maybe it's the cost to ship included :(
Paying for convenience I guess

NerdECrafter rating: IN THE TRASH 🗑!!!!!
I'm pretty sure you can get canvas bags for way less than $5. Especially blank ones.
I feel like I've seen them at Michaels for $3.
I've seen them at the dollar store for ya know a dollar xD Probably about the same quality too
Renée Dixon Yeah and this one looks like the cheapest quality possible :/
I’ve seen them at the dollar store as well. They’re usually hanging in sections where they have summer items. I guess it’s a “beach bag”
My sister just bought some in bulk for a church project and she said they came out to about $1.37 each.
The candy you got were Zollipops (I read about them in a Ripley's Believe It or Not). They're actually supposed to be really good for your teeth, so eat 'em up (I'm kinda jealous because I've been wanting to try them).
Also the cobweb is a dream catcher.
This is why I don't trust crayola

The difference between these and the jazza boxes is that other boxes like to see how much they can charge to get the most product for the least amount of things - and jazza is about trying to pack as much value into a collection as possible
I agree with the price issue. BUT to help make the smudge paint stencil issue. When its done just outline with contrasting paint marker or just black and BOOM gives a watercolor vibe and makes the image to where you know what it is 😊 hope you see this!
That cobweb thing that you were really stressful with is called a "dream catcher"
rythym gaming no it is not a dream catcher a real one has feathers and beads and stuff
@@2verysnowyyy pretty sure it's the web bit in the middle of the hoop that makes a dreamcatcher a dreamcatcher. That's where the dream spider lives and where the bad dreams are caught. Feathers and beads are more for decoration. Although some dreamcatchers do have a single bead inside the web part to represent the spider
APeaches16 dream catcher are also kind of a closed practice. it’s specific to Native American cultures and the feathers and beads are sacred items. and it’s not necessarily bad dreams but harm. it’s a protective charm

“I REALLY DONT KNOW HOW SPIDERS DO IT”
Does CIY stand for Crayola It Yourself or Cancel It Yourself?
Crap is You-sless (useless).
If they included common household items like scissors or tape with these packs, people would end up with dozens of scissors though.
Yes, totally agree. Some subscription boxes short change their subscribers and have forgotten the reason why people sign up for them. They want to try new art materials for a cheaper price than when we have to go buy them in full size at the store. Instead, they get smaller supplies and amount for more than regular full set prices.
Artists supporting other artists on RUclips is the most wholesome thing I’ve seen.
You should do a collab with NerdEcrafter and send her one of this boxes. It would be really funny to see her reaction. Lol.

Chloe: I’m going to burn it with fire Ah yes, instead of burning it with water.
Lol 😂
"I'm going to BURN it with FIRE" I'm dying honestly lol
