I would love to get the incredible inky box! I love calligraphy, and I’ve always wanted to try drawing with a dip pen as well! My Instagram is @cupcake_gumbo
When I see you drawing with a nib pen like is a pencil it gives me chills 🥶. In my country we were forced to use ink fountain pens until we were in the 5th grade, because it would supposedly help us to have a beautiful handwriting (spoiler alert, it didn't), but I can tell you are using it more like a ball pen and that will ruin the nib quick. The most important thing is to never push with an nib pen, you have to be delicate, the ink will flow on its own. Also you need to keep your palm on the paper and your elbow on the table for stability, you seem to work from your shoulder and elbow, that is great for drawing but for using nib pens is a big no no, because you put pressure on the nib, you need to work only from the wrist and fingers. You also are left-handed, and traditionally nib pens were designed for right-handed people, in my school they solved that problem by forcing everyone to write with the right hand (was as fun as it sounds 😒), but, I heard that now there are nibs especially designed for left handed people, those might be better for you. Hope this helps you. 😀
We also had writing class around age 7 to 8 (not sure which grade that is) with fountain pens. It worked for me. I actually have the original fountain pen handwriting that I bust out on birthday cards and such and the daily one that is a lot easier to read because the letters are separate.
This sounds like Vietnam. I can never forget all the times my ink pot got spilled when i try to refill the pens. Man. Idek who thought it’s a good idea to let a bunch of kids handle that stuff with white uniform
Same here! I am actually left handed and interestingly, I always preferred the "regular" pens, not the special left hand ones (they have a slightly differently angled tip because you basically hold it the other way round). But I agree that you have to use them in a different way than pencil or ballpoint pens. also, idk about the ink refill issue, I only know those pretty simple ink cartridges things that you simply plop into the pen and take out when empty... it's not that hard. like refilling a ballpoint pen...
Calligraphy is much harder as a left hander. As someone was born left handed but was bullied into using my right hand I still prefer writing with my left except when I'm writing calligraphy
Yes! I've taught my left handed best friend some calligraphy, but had her write in mirrored letters. Left handers push the pen across the page for writing, while right handers pull the pen to their right when writing. Writing in mirror letters made it easier for her to use a calligraphy tipped pen for letters Do you still use your right hand when drawing with a fountain pen
I ended up learning calligraphy twice. First time was with my (dominant) left hand. It was miserable because I had to use special pens, and it was basically like learning how to write again. Then a couple years later I had the opportunity to learn again, and decided to learn with my right hand. It was also very difficult, but a lot more satisfying.
I used to get this in infant school, until my parents found out. My Mum went into school and told the teacher I was *left*-handed, not right, and she wasn't to try and force me to be right-handed.
This box looks amazing. I have always wanted to try calligraphy. I can't pick a box yet until I see all 3, but for now I love this box and the pen looks so fancy. You are always so cheery and talented. You inspire a lot of people, so it is no wonder why Jazza would reach out to you. I am so glad for you! congrats!
*Chloe draws a perfect polar bear -“He’s not perfect but I did him in like 5 minutes” *Me trying to draw a polar bear 45 minutes later “It looks like melted ice cream-”
@@ChloeRoseArt but the thought came to my mind while watching you try calligraphy is that you'd be able to get much more better than you already are with focused practising. Your minimums weren't bad at all. They just need practice to get even better.
I tell you a secret. The reason why you find the calligraphy challenging is that you are lefty. I suffer/enjoy from same issue. The pen nibs are in wrong angle when you try to get the lines go in the right way. The best way to fix that is to try to find a way to turn the paper into different angles than what it is when you normally write. And keep trying different directions with the paper till you find one that works for you. I have mine almost upside down so that I can get the pen nib work like the right handed person would. While I love to be lefty most of the time, in this area it sucks lol. But yeah it takes more work to figure out how to make the pens work. And I have found it easier to learn it now after figuring out what my issue was and what are some of the ways for me to "fix" them. I hope this helps to tackle the learning process some with the calligraphy.
Their are left handed nibs you should be able to find and switch out on your pen. Also I would suggest felt tip pins (I love mine from tombow) that works more on the pressure than the angles of the pen
As a fellow leftie, I agree that lettering is a bit more work since you work against the strokes that create those beautiful lines. I was so frustrated with lettering I started to write out my text in graphite pen and then I went backwards to mimick the right handed flow :,D
Calligraphy is different for left handed people. With chisel nibs like that you have to turn the paper 90 degrees to get the correct angle, or you need angled nibs (often sold in sets for left handed people). Its just really hard for most lefties to get the right angles in calligraphy without making major changes to the default instructions, and the correct angle is super important for having the shapes come out right.
I was just about to say! Being a southpaw myself, It's really hard to do calligraphy due to the angle of the nib. You really have to find different ways to adjust in order to achieve those straight lines. I've addressed wedding invites before but put a little of my own spin to them so they looked neat and tidy :)
yeah it's in the gestures too, you always pull and not really push that much, the right hand does these motions naturally but the left can't. i've seen people do it upside down and inverting the motions and it kinda works.
As a calligrapher, I’d recommend you look up some tutorials for left handed calligraphy. It’s actually quite different than right handed. I’d also recommend you try using an oblique dip pen. Lefties often have an easier time with those 🙂 Good luck!
I love how excited you get when Jazza sends you a letter 🥰😂🤪🥳 The Inky Box is my favourite as those contents I’ve never had the pleasure of using. Jazza has curated these boxes perfectly. 🙌🏼⭐️ He’s gone above and beyond as expected. And I love how excited you are when it’s anything Jazza related 👏🏼😆
The inky box is just to die for. The dip pen is beautiful, it's full of sparkle and shine and has such a lovely cappuccino sketchbook. Coffee can't get much better but to have it in a sketchbook is just amazing. This would make my life so much happier as I'm a bit short of sparkle at the moment.
Omg , I have never seen an art box that big. I mean even calligraphy boxes which I have seen( because I do calligraphy) are not that big and doesn't have that many items I AM AMAZED
Enter for the giveaway: I am actually not an artist myself, but I do have an incredible friend who is a graphic designer and loves lettering. I would like to be able to give her as her birthday present the inky box. When I moved to Santander (Spain) she helped me with everything (school, knowing the City, meeting Friends...) However the most important favor she did was to help me forget that I was away from home and show that I needed to start having fun and enjoy this new chapter of my life In essence I would like to give her as a thank you give the inky box. Although she will tell me that I didn't need it to it.
I absolutely love watching you open new art supplies. You make me laugh and laughter is something we all need more of this year. God bless you dear. You make my days better. Thank you
My entry to the give away: I've always loved art even since a tiny child. Id sit and draw for hours fully entertained. I love colour and it amazes me how each colour works together and how they compliment each other in their own way. As I grew older colour never siezed to amaze me and it still does now. A few years ago i picked up a starter calligraphy set and i was struck by how the pens worked and moved across the page. It made me investigate hand lettering, i now love them both for different reasons. However, they link together, through the past few years ive been through lots of emotions and calligraphy helped me express them in a way nothing else would. I would mix the colour with the lettering picking the colours and styles depending on my emotions at that time. I would really like Jazza's incredible inky art box because i want to experiment and create with amazing new supplies! If you were to pick me my Instagram is @ewattisart but I'm really not expecting it. Thank you Chloe for your inspiring arty videos.
Giveaway: My boyfriend is shipping out for the military soon. He has gotten into calligraphy in the past couple months but all he can afford is cheap walmart supplies. I was planning on buying him better calligraphy supplies but with covid its near impossible to afford anything better than what he already has. I want to get this box so I can give it to him as a bootcamp graduation present. Hes gonna be gone over Christmas so it would double as a Christmas present as well. I know he would absolutely love it, especially after having nothing for a couple months. That and I could borrow his old stuff and he could teach me what he's learned so far Instagram: Scarebear_333 Best of luck everyone and congratulations to whoever wins 😊
I think it's amazing that you always say that your "quick drawings" are ugly and I think they're all beautiful. And come on, if you practice calligraphy for a week I'll be able to buy your work (and probably pay an absurd shipping to Brazil 😂) e put on my wall. Love this channel! ❤
I believe most people will be overwhelmed with this massive box set at first. With seemingly endless tools and crafts defiantly worth every penny, no question. Awesome how JAZZA actually commented on your page! That’s got to be excited.
Ah I love what you make with each box you open! Thank you for all your cute fun energy, makes my day! I'm a HUGE FAN of JAZZA and YOU! I would FLIP with excitement if I won the super Sculpture Box since I LOVE sculpting while watching shows and youtube videos. Keep doing what you do! :D
I really enjoyed this, so fun to watch someone use an art supply for the first time. Alcohol inks can also be mixed with your pigment powders, and you can add alcohol to make pastel colors. They do only work on coated or sealed papers, but are also great on plastic packaging or acetate. And yours turned out awesome! Don't be so hard on yourself.
Hello! :) For the alcohol inks, you have to put only some on the paper and then, you have to put alcohol on it to create whatever you want. You have to be quick when you blow on it after pouring some alcohol ( it has to be 90% alcohol or more. 75% does not work. ) because it dries very quickly. It spreads a lot. That's why you don't have to use too much ink. After that, you can ( if you want :) ) draw on top ( when dry ) with a white gel pen or black pen. I also use Posca pens. It's so much fun! Great video! :)

oh my goodness! the pencil eraser! I had a few one! but mine fell apart and I decided to out the little green piece on my finger like a ring and it got stuck and I was in the middle of class and I was panicking. I went to the bathroom and managed to get it off with some soap but yeah.
I suggest getting dollarstore or walmart grade supplies, Some are really quite decent for a low cost. Sketchbooks or just plain printer paper. Get a few good soft erasers, a kneedable and a few art pencils and a metal sharpener! For les than $20 you can make hundreds of drawings and start learning. You can do a lot with just a decent no.2 pencil eraser, sharpener and a pack of coloured inkjoy ballpoint pens as well. It depends on where you live but some dollarstore supplies are legitimately good! Also look in the clearance section of stores like Walmart and look at the lowest cost options. Work with what you have and start arting today!
@@huntersnakeart2380 I feel ya. But like @ValasaFantastic said, you don't have to get fancy. When I started drawing i was just using regular pencils to sketch on printer paper I found cheap at a business supply shop my mom and I frequented because they were the only place in our little town that had the blenders, kneaded erasers and india ink I needed for an art class I was in for a brief time as a kid. I've been homeless before and was using regular ballpoint pens and regular yellow pencils to doodle into a little blank journal book I picked up for a couple of bucks on clearance at Half Price Books before I ended up homeless. I've been hitting up Dollar Tree periodically because their new store layout actually includes an art and craft section. When they have them, you can get 4 oz bottles of acrylic paint for $1 each. It's not the cost of the supplies that makes great art, it's what you do with the supplies that counts. A little note on clearance paints, though. If you're not going to use them pretty quickly, pass on them. Usually they clearance them because they've begun to separate from sitting on the shelf too long. So you won't have long to use them up before they get all curdled and clumpy.
@@valasafantastic1055 - Something I discovered when I was really broke is that "back to school" shopping is one of the best times to get cheap supplies from Walmart. It's a little late now (being October), but in late August they will have things like a large set of Prismacolor Scholars on super cheap, etc. You can also use coupons at Michaels (or Hobby Lobby if you're in the States). Subscribe to the Michaels newsletter/get their app and you will be updated when they have big sales. They normally have coupons for 30-40% off one item (which often works on sets of things as well), and sometimes they go up to 50 or even 55% off (especially close to Christmas, that's the best time of year to watch for the big coupons). I believe it goes up to 60% off in the States.
If you enjoyed doing the alcohol ink art, try doing the same ink but on ceramic white glazed tiles! It has the same effect as the paper, but slightly different results depending on what you do. It's something I learned back in middle school, and I loved it!
I am wanting and willing to watch an amazing 2 hour Chloe Rose Art video! However, I completely understand the amount of time, work and deliberation that goes into every and each video. Thank you for being an amazing person and thank you for sharing your art. :)
The inky art box! Hi, Chloe! I’m like conflicted about not seeing two hours of you talking about this box. I relate to you a lot, so it’s like hearing a friend spazz out about art stuff (understandably so!) but I’m also relieved that you are taking your time. From my understanding of how video editing works, I think it’s a good idea to talk about the boxes separately each day and still sleep somehow! XD P.S I’m sorry for the long none ending sentences. XD twitter name: CherryBlossomInk
Yeah, but you can create art with anything, i mean its alot better and easier if you have good supplies but still you can create art with pretty much anything
@@Noone-kw5qy Oh yes for sure. I've done quite a few cheap art supplies challenges and reviews. I love using cheap art supplies because it shows that you don't need expensive stuff to create great art. :)
Inky Box is amazing (watched Jazza play with the sparkly ink and now watching this!!!).... so many glittery lovelies! We use alcohol inks on all types of surfaces, but one thing that is fun is using packaging anything foil-like (yogurt tops or foil packs). Emboss then ink... get some really cool mixed media bits.
Giveaway: My husband loves minis and had to recently sell his minis due to a hospital bill. It took a lot of time and effort and now they’re gone. He’s well now but I hate seeing him sad.
I wanna make art RUclips just for this moment, almost enough for me to overcome my camera shyness. I would love the Minis box, because 1) My husband saw me watching Jazza's video and has already threatened to steal everything if I buy it for myself! 2) Because I want to use the ghost lady miniature on her own to make a piece of art for miscarriage and infant loss awareness month, but don't want to miss out on making the whole model! My twitter is @Enyawrose (Your Twitter spirit animal)
I would LOVE to have absolutely any of it for my son. He is so into art and makes anything out of anything he can get his hands on. He just turned 8 and art is the one thing that makes him happy and calm. We only get to "splurge" during xmas because things get expensive. We use crayons markers paints and colored pencils literally until you can't anymore. I don't have any social medias but it's still worth a shot for my boy. 🙂
Small art items come with HuGe costs that sometimes isn't even worth half the product. That's why I never buy any. I make' em by myself so it doesn't cost much :)
Hell that box set doesn’t make sense anyway it’s $99 and $99 and $199 individually or $769 as a box set almost twice the price as it’s individually sold and it’s probably twice the price just for the individual boxes four times the cost as a box set

Also, I don’t have an Instagram, but if you chose this I would make an account!
I’m a caretaker for my mum who had a stroke in jan and for my sibling who has a brain tumour. Don't fall for RUclipsr's influence. You don't need this super expensive box to become a great artist. You can find everything you need for 20-30$ at Walmart and as you get better or want to try new things go on Amazon. Don't fall for the RUclipsr's hype about Copics and 20$ markers and stuff. These people are millionaires selling people stuff.
I’m confused why she did a poll asking about how many videos to do if she wasn’t going to follow it? It’s totally fine to do 3 videos and I’m sure they will all be great as usual! Just not sure why she did a poll if this is what she was going to do anyways. Oh well can’t wait to see the videos 😊

@@LadyPoochieLe Tell me about it, especially going back to mom with that uniform afterwards.
“Remember in math class you used to have like, graphing paper”
*yup, I’m still using it... how could I forget 😂*
Hey Jaden! I'm Subscribed to you ! Almost like I see you everywhere now!!
haha me too
Same.
😭
I am so sorry you were bullied for that
I do calligraphy but I am a right handed person, I have taught some left handed people
I used to get this in infant school, until my parents found out. My Mum went into school and told the teacher I was *left*-handed, not right, and she wasn't to try and force me to be right-handed.
Who else totally expected the inkbottle to fall over when she lifted the whole thing up?

@@ChloeRoseArt but the thought came to my mind while watching you try calligraphy is that you'd be able to get much more better than you already are with focused practising. Your minimums weren't bad at all. They just need practice to get even better.
You need a left handed calligraphy class!
Oh, I see she mentions this around 13:49 😅
I've heard writing back to front/right to left/end to begining can help too
As a fellow leftie, I agree that lettering is a bit more work since you work against the strokes that create those beautiful lines. I was so frustrated with lettering I started to write out my text in graphite pen and then I went backwards to mimick the right handed flow :,D
I actually was going to ask if it was because she was a lefty
I love that Jazza shares his favorite art supplies with everyone and has his own cute editions. I love watching your videos Chloe and him as well.

It sucks to be lefthanded 😭
yeah it's in the gestures too, you always pull and not really push that much, the right hand does these motions naturally but the left can't. i've seen people do it upside down and inverting the motions and it kinda works.
So that’s why I can’t do it
*People:* How huge do you want the art box to be?

I am actually not an artist myself, but I do have an incredible friend who is a graphic designer and loves lettering. I would like to be able to give her as her birthday present the inky box. When I moved to Santander (Spain) she helped me with everything (school, knowing the City, meeting Friends...) However the most important favor she did was to help me forget that I was away from home and show that I needed to start having fun and enjoy this new chapter of my life
In essence I would like to give her as a thank you give the inky box. Although she will tell me that I didn't need it to it.

My entry to the give away:
I've always loved art even since a tiny child.

The ink pen wasn’t working the best because the nib is bent on one of the “prongs”! They should be side by side
Yeah. Seems she put too much pressure on it so it bended
@@enname1622 I think it came bent? When she first took it out of the box the two nib bits weren’t lining up
Yeah, I was looking for this comment. It was bent as soon as she removed it from the box.
My first thought when I saw the nibs was, why didn't they just have ten of three types or something? chances of having a junk nib are really high.
Jazza is literally the dad of the RUclips art world
I definitely starting singing “We just got a letter” song from Blues Clues lol. I love calligraphy, but I am not very good at it lol.
This is so cool. I’m an art student currently so I can’t afford a lot of nicer art supplies but I love watching others enjoy them.

*Its a letter! It’s a letter, IT’S A LETTER!!!*
Me: is that a hogwarts letter, you got there?
Yep that my fantasy

I hope you get it. 🙏🏻 That's the one that would mean the most to me as well.
