Great review Joe, super interesting to hear about the blue tint on ND, I'm so used to Ursa's magenta issues lol, I'd probably take a slightly blue tint nd out of the pair. So jealous you're right by lulworth. Feels like forever since I was down there!
Hi Joe, first time i've come across your channel. When you first came on camera I thought, that room looks familiar!!! Then you mentioned Corfe Castle and the penny dropped. I lived in Swanage for nearly ten years before moving to France. It was lovely to see Lulworth as well. You suggested that your review was a bit "tame" not a bit of it. It was balanced and honest and very useful. I have always been a Nikon guy and have a substantial investment in Nikon glass but as the video production side of my business is growing faster than my stills, I have been looking around for a more genuine cinema camera. I really value your fair and even comments, they are a moments calm in the storm. I am thinking I will go for the 6k pro, I think mainly because of the built in ND and I saw yesterday a new firmware release that is addressing a number of the perceived problems. I am thinking that rather than get a metabones to use my Nikon glass, I will stay native and buy a couple of EF mount lenses with the 6KP? It's a lot of money but I think it is time. Thanks again for the video, really helpful. Give my love to The Purbecks, they hold a special place in my heart.

@@JOEFilmstube really? Interesting. I may have to look into those too cause I'm fairly new to the Blackmagic brand and accessories coming from Canon and GH5s. Thanks for the info.
I was about to pull the trigger on one of these yesterday then I watched a video of a guy who had had loads of issues, and sent the camera back three times for replacement... damaged body, missing logo on body cap, but more worryingly blue tint on LCD, dust under IR Filter and issues powering on... like it wouldn’t power on at all... have you had any of these issues? The blue screen seems quite a widespread problem? John
Looks like someone got some pretty bad luck! Mines been fine. If you really think it’s the camera for you, just get one - you can always send it back if you’re not happy! 🤙🏼
My 6k pro is just fine, maybe a small, small tint of blue on the screen but no other issues. Works just great and fantastic quality. I’ve shot most at 6K raw 12:1 compression and it’s comparable to to shot in prores HQ in terms of recording time on the ssd.
Beautiful video! Wishing the EVF was more affordable. The SteadXP+ looks interesting for stabilization but there may be compromises with codec selection.
Nothing confirmed, I’m still not sure what it has. It certainly has an accelerometer but I’m not sure if it’s written into the metadata or not. I’m very interested to know though!
I have bmpcc4k and the only complaint is those file sizes, but when editing it is very easy on my pc. I can edit and colourgrade in full res without any need of proxy files. In the same time, this same pc is struggling to work witg 100mbit 4k h264 files from dji mini2. To edit those I deffinately need proxies.
Great video, love the image this camera creates! Can someone recommend a lens for this camera, I'm having a hard time finding one that fits my needs. I need a wide angle zoom lens with image stabilization. So for example something like the newer Canon RF 15-30 2.8 IS I feel like I cant find one similar that fits the mount for pocket 6K (EF right?), either it doesnt have IS or there's some other drawback. The closest thing i've found is the Tamron SP 15-30mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2, but I dont know if that fits this camera Thanks
Hi there! Thanks for the comment. I would recommend the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 DXII. Nice and wide, super sharp, and really rather affordable when compared to others on the market. amzn.to/2OUFaWb Alternatively, the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 - this lens is beautiful and while it's not so wide, it gives you a decent midrange, will be great in low light, and is also pretty damn affordable. amzn.to/3r5dQ4H Hope this helps. Just to clarify, I don't own these lenses, but I've used the sigma and I loved it. Honestly thinking of getting them both in time.
I have late 2015, imac. My raw files will not open or play in braw player any ideas?. Also, I have returned my 6k pro for new unit the internal fan has a buzzing sound on top of regular fan noise ... any thoughts or views on this?
Thank you, sir! It burns?? Damn, where do you live, Arizona? Haha, I don't think I've had the fan kick in too hard so far - probably because I've used it outside and this is England. The battery grip would shield you from it a little, maybe?
Look at fxlion for small vmount batteries. There are other companies making small vmounts but these also have ports for charging phones, laptops, etc so comes in handy even when not shooting.

Key feature for me is the stabilization. I noticed you didn’t do any moving shots. Stabilization in post with any movement whatsoever is horrible. Hope it comes in the next camera, ah and 4K 100 FPS. 🙌🙌🙌
If I were planning on some dynamic shots, I’d put it on a gimbal for sure - the stabilisation in resolve is fine for static, handheld shots though, and that’s what I was trying to convey :) 4K 100fps would be lovely.
Hey man, awesome video. Thanks for sharing. The footage quality surely looks incredible. You live in a beautiful space. I was wondering about your workflow. Are you now editing everything in Resolve, or do you export stabilised footage and then take it to FC? Thanks man.

That sucks. It seems like a lot of people are having varied amounts of similar issues. I wonder if blackmagic will do some sort of recall? Mine genuinely seems fine to me 🤷🏻♂️
@@JOEFilmstube Have you put it up to any previous Pocket cams? You don't even have to bring in the lens factor into account. Simply just look at the menu side by side.

No not at all. All I’m saying is that the intended use for blackmagic’s cameras don’t require IBIS, and if they did put it in; a) it would cost a lot more as it takes a lot of R&D, and b) they would probably need to add other hybrid features like continuous AF to compete with the like of Sony and Canon.
