  • The classic is back! Wilson has added "Paradigm Bending " to the Wilson Pro Staff 97 14.0 in an attempt to bring the flex of its legendary line closer to what it was on their iconic Pro Staff 90s.

    I've used this for a few months, works _really_ well with some nice polys and 50-55lbs of tension.

      I did not know you could italicize words in RUclips responses, that is very cool. That's also right around the tension I've been playing it at.

    I've used three gens of PS97, from v12 to v14 which I use today. I have to say v14 is the easiest to play with and for me the best PS I've got yet. I'm still considering if it's worth to buy Blade 98 16x19, but for now I am very happy with PS. The PS is very demanding technical wise, but if you are good enough and you possess strong serve and play good volleys, this racquet is just for you

      It will probably be much too heavy, unfortunately. If you want an easier transition away from a Ti.S6 style of racket, try something like the Babolat Pure Drive first.

    Hi Luca. How does this racket compare to the Head Auxetic Gravity Pro? I’ve tried the gravity pro but found it really hard to get the racket through on my forehand and it felt cumbersome. Is the Pro Staff quicker through the air than the Gravity Pro? Also is it more stable? Specs wise they’re similar so for me I’m thinking it must be the racket head shape / size making the Gravity Pro feel clumpy to me! It’s not the weight as I’ve used heavier rackets with higher swing weights and has no problem but they’ve always been between 95 - 98 sq inch head size. Hoping this Pro Staff is what I’m after in wanting a stable racket I can swing quick through the air mainly on my forehand. I found the Gravity Pro ok on everything else. As always thanks for your advice.

      The Gravity is definitely a slow racket, but I would say the X is, unfortunately, even slower. I think that a 100 square inch 315 gram frame is going to feel clunkier than most and it's definitely true with these two. I really struggled with generating racket head speed with the X; even more so than I do with the Gravity.

    Lucas, I am currently playing with a pro staff 97 v12 and before I played with babolat pure drive 98. I am considering a change now ; between this model ; the aero 98 or pure drive 98. I like to attack use a lot of top spin ; ground strikes and like also to finish points at the net. My second serve has a lot of spin - kick. I am a former college player . Any recommendation between this racquet / aero 98 or pure drive 98 ?
    I use 17g string - volkl cyclone tour
    Thanks

      This would be the most familiar to you, and the only real difference would be in feel, coming from the v12. If you do want to add more spin to your game, go for the Aero 98; it has plenty of spin but still tons of precision so it sounds great for you.

    Thanks for great review again. What do you think about Pro Staff 97L V14 version?

    Great review, isn't the big difference between pro stock and retail consumer rackets the amount of flex in the throat area? It looks like Wilson may be giving us a pro stock racket in disguise here! How would you compare it to the RF97?

      @@RacketsRunnersVancouvercan you answer his second question about comparing it with RF 97.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  Год назад

      Compared to the RF, the new Pro Staff is MUCH softer, a little more muted and obviously much, much more manoeuvrable. Not as powerful, and control levels are similar but you need to be able to swing full with the RF to control it.

    Do you have an advice for a Great string for the pro Staff 97 V14?

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  Год назад +2

      ALU Power is always good but it depends if you want to add spin and control or touch and feel because a multi could also be great.

      For one, I'm so used to it at this point. But also, it's just such a solid racket that really does well everywhere so whenever I'm a little off my game it brings me back down to earth.

    It is very bulky, not heavy enough. Unless Wilson bring back the older beam with let say 95", probably will never buy another one. Even Federer lost his greatest shot with this, his forhend. And payed the price not to be greatest.

    • @RacketsRunnersVancouver
      @RacketsRunnersVancouver  Год назад

      I think the best way to look at it is that it's a different racket than it was with those 90s. It has adapted and it's best to judge the frame on its own merits rather than compare it to those frames.
      The 95 square inch idea is a great one!
