Ooof, that's a bit harsh for the 97 IMO. In my V13's I put something soft in the mains or drop down to around 50 for full poly. Maybe even less for tour bite.
ATT really stepping it up. Love the new format. Michelle is a find though. Explains stuff for us mere mortals in a way we can understand and judge if it would suit us or not.
Best review I've seen. Love how you had her elaborate on exactly what she loved and disliked about the racket. Most RUclips reviewers give very basic and very generic feedbacks. Great job!
Lol! Holy crap! That opening point with that one handed backhand, that backhand was as pretty and elegant and amazing a backhand that I've ever seen and you almost never get to see a backhand like that from that angle. I feel like these are the best players I've ever seen reviewing rackets for us normies.
switched from the Blade 98 v8 to the 97 Pro Staff after testing, it gave me the additional power and stability I felt the blade lacked (even after adding weight). Agree there was an adjustment period with late contact due to the Pro Staff's additional weight and its balance (more headlight) making it slower through the air
Great video. Loved the low angle hitting. You get a sense of the power and how clean these rallies are. Would like to see more of Cheerag. He was phenomenal
This format is great for single racquet testing but please don't change away from your best-of-eight format which you do for racquet testing, as that is a very helpful compare/contrast between models. :) For single model multiple SKU evaluation, this format is informative (getting feedback along the way) and feels very comprehensive, thank you! Your comments guiding the players are a good way to dig into each aspect as they are hitting, and also your observations while they play re smooth, super informative!
Great feedback. Ive been using Head Speed Pro for a few yeara and wasnt shopping for a new racquet. My buddy was demoing the v14, the X, and a couple Diadem racquets. I hit them all then hit the X, what a stick! It was like a hungry bear growling to be fed.
Am considering between the Head Speed Pro and the Pro Staff v14 97. Coming from a super old Head Radical, even though I'm an advanced player (don't judge haha)
@@SilentTM FWIW the head on the Pro Staff X, felt like a 97 to me. Both the Speed Pro and PS X have an 18 x 20 string pattern but I can't accurately compare the two at this time. My Head racquet has a full set of 17g gut at 58 lbs and the Wilson has a full set of Lux 4G at 50 lbs. Hope to match the strings when the guy snaps.
i use the pro staff 97 the last 6-7 years...i bought this one last month again, 97 head 315 grams as the older ones i have and i find the v14 an easier raquet than the previous ones but very close the way they play...the string i use is lux alu light @58lbs
I liked the review….Im a Sr teaching pro…60+ years old…I prefer the 97 when I play…lower launch angle, great for passing shots…hitting angles. The description I use is that the 97 is “intuitive “….pick your shot and rip it. The 100 hits the ball discernibly higher…I use it to teach…easy power…I average 35 hours per week teaching, ..easy on my arm…it’s the only 100 inch frame I’ve ever found that gives me the confidence to hit out on the ball. I loved the V97 within the first 5 minutes of hitting with it!
I wonder how Michelle would feel with the PS 97L v14. Se could even add a bit of weight to the handle to make it more HL and closer to the static weight of her Blade... That said, I know a lot 2HBH players prefer the Blade to the PS, and OHBH prefer PS to Blade. Regardless, she's got game... even if she thinks her shots are "plingy" (sp?). Cheraag was straight up blasting the ball. Those backhands and serves. 🧑🍳😘
I tested both rackets, the X Model feels a lot less head heavy than the ProStaff. Although they‘re the same weight, the PS gives you a lot more stability, especially on the single-handed backhand. I ordered 2 :-)
I’ve recently switched to the Blade from the PS. Bit more flex in the Blade, feels sharper and more manoeuvrable than the PS. PS is loads better on volleys and half volley pick ups. More stable and just has more mass. You have to really focus on blades at the net as the head can be a bit unstable at times.
Excellent review format. You really feel you’re here on the court. One suggestion: would be good to know the players’ current setup (Blade 98 has two versions for instance), and the strings/tensions of the play test.
It was valuable to hear the change in initial impression. It is a good point to make that during a match the lighter, more powerful racket might actually be the more logical choice.
If she needs a bit more control in the 100. String it a bit tighter. Try 56 lbs and try Head Lynx Tour as string. She should try the rackets at different tensions. maybe lower the tension in the smaller frame and tighten it in the bigger frame. What a sweetheart she is.
With what strings and what tension were the Pro Staffs tested with? The strings and tension is just as important to take note of as the review is for the feel of the pro staff with that specific string and tension. My v13 is a different stick with different strings and tensions.
The only reason I watching this is because of Michelle to be honest! I could give a hoot about the new rachet even though I have a pro staff that Stephan Edberg I believed played with... yea it's old! LOL Hey, she has a beautiful wonderful smile that's so addicting to look at IMHO!
I'd love to be able to try and test rackets out - but unfortunately - here in SA the tennis scene is pretty small and underfunded so we have super limited rackets to even choose from.
Really enjoyed the tennis play, that dude has such a good style and amazing backhand, would love just to watch him play, if anyone has his socials or if he has a youtube channel for his play please reply with it
it's good you guys have proper players with proper swings testing. other channels have players with rubbish techniques. can't trust their comments at all.
once you play with a 98 head size and more control racket you feel like you just bash all balls out with a bigger head size/frame racket. Im looking for a more arm friendly racket than my blade 98 atm and i am going to demo a pure aero 98, hope it will reduce the strain on my arm as i play with heavy top spin and whippy technique usually.
First of all, the lovely Michelle made me weak in the knees by the way she strikes so awesomely and her beauty!!! Oh, and the erm, racquet. Yes, that too is stunnning ; )
I just don't like Wilson's rectangular grip shape. i play with Prince Phantom 97P. Their grips are round. it fills up my palm much more than the rectangular shape. I feel more locked in. I just wish I could change the pallet like Head rackets because Wilson have great frames.
She hits flat, that's why she has to slow down her swing in order not to hit the ball at the back fence. If you hit spin, you could accelerate as much as you can without losing control
Why the hell is Wilson making a 100 sqi Pro Staff? Actually two if you count the six one. The Pro Staff line is all about control and feel. Yet they have no mid sized option.
Racket plays nothing like old pro staff, should not even call it a pro staff, paradigm bending crap makes it to flexy and this to me is a pathetic attempt from Wilson to appeal to more general players. If you can't play with a pro staff then don't, find something for your game and style rubbish racket can't believe the positive reviews sold my 2 immediately...
All rackets strung with Solinco Tour Bite @54lbs
Ooof, that's a bit harsh for the 97 IMO. In my V13's I put something soft in the mains or drop down to around 50 for full poly. Maybe even less for tour bite.
@@TheRob2D The v14 feels a lot more flexible/bendy/softer at contact than v13 so its fine
What a gorgeous one-handed backhand the guy has
Pete Sampras?🎾
Spot on!
Just watch how he turns the head towards the ball when hitting - amazing! 👌🏻

Great review! Cheraag has beautiful strokes, a bit Dimitrov like, especially his backhand. Is he about to enter the ATP tour?

Blade is a wet noodle compared. Stiffness makes all the difference on power. They should make it a 98 head size and 18x20 pattern
