This cat always used to hang out down in the garage basement of my building, i thought i'd get it some food and it became a regular, so i thought i'd show how funny it is when it makes those weird "happiness" noises when it ate!
this is old but i just found it in my folder i had totally forgotten about it.

You can tell the difference between a feral cat and an abandoned stray. Feral cats know how to survive better. They're cleaner, more well-fed, and a lot more skittish around humans. The cat in this video was obviously someone's pet at one point and was dumped on the street. Thank you for feeding it and I hope you found it a good home.

I call them "Garbage Pail Kitties". They got raised by humans and abandoned and don't know how to survive without being fed. they die mostly.
it's fucking weird how everytime you guys see a friendly cat you instantly assume them to be someone's pet that was like dumped two days ago
I've seen more affectionate cats eat from garbage than cats that have been owned and rised inside house
as the person suggested above me, this cat was born around people and was socialized at one point.
This just breaks my heart, thank you for feeding him.

This is a good example of a stray cat (house cat that got lost or abandoned) A house cat that gets lost will have an unkempt/dirty appearance, be vocal, and make eye contact. A feral cat is better groomed and won't vocalize. Also that cat was approachable - impossible with a feral cat - it would not eat with its back to you. If you find a cat like this one - try to find it a home!

This cat is feral and has had a hard life. It is a half purr(happy to have food) and half warning to stay back because she doesn't trust you to come close..

But not a feral one. No matter how hungry, a feral cat would never seek human aid. This cat was socialized by humans in that critical window during kitten-hood. Runaway or abandoned, this is not a feral animal.

Actually you are quite right from one aspect I had so far overlooked. If the camera-person had been doing this for some time the cat may be conditioned to accept their presence. I have seen that done by gradual increments over many, many visits. Your comment made me rethink something I thought I already knew. Thanks!
Poor thing was absolutely starving. No matter what we think of this at least he fed the cat and didn't ignore it as so many must have.

Some cats like this one don't do well but the majority of street cats do just fine. That's just nature.

Poor baby. I think he makes these noises, because all the fear, desperation, misery of the past weeks comes out. He is crying with relief.
Cats are very sensitive creatures, able to have the same emotions as humans. And they show their emotions. If you know them, you can decipher their emotions.
When cats who had a rough time, make it into safety, they sometimes undergo a period, where they start crying, because all the horrible things of their past come up. As a new cat mommy or daddy you have to be patient and show compassion, until they are fine again.

OMG I have alto of stray cats at my neighborhood and one night a stray cat was at the door step and it was the prettiest cat ever and it was very hungry and we decided to keep it and we named her Savannah and we bring her to the vet and she was 9 months old and right now she is 1 years old and a half. she got pregnant and she had her babies and they died btw the babies were not fully developed but this white stuff kept on oozing out of her and we took her to the vet and my family had to pay 1500 dollars for the people to get all of it out of her and she is ok now and I'm happy she is still with us and living happily.😀

It's a sad reality, millions of these animals will find themselves in this situation, not get any help, and die. Even if you help one that's one less.
He is afraid that's what the sound is from the start. Afraid to get hurt or that you'll take away the food again. But mostly because he's afraid. He is given to much food in one serving. A very hungry aniamal eats until it throws up.
I feel sorry for the cat and others that either is thrown out, left or born into this life by a stray mother. I wish people wouldn't take animals for pets and then abandon them.

Ali Sarper Özer That is a tad cynical, eh? It is easier to put out some food for a stray animal--which is a good deed, than to adopt the animal. Feeding, caring for, or adopting a child is...worlds away. People do what they can.
The person helping this cat took time out of their day to provide food to this unfortunate animal. It's a step. If everybody does what they can, there wouldn't be starving animals, much less starving children in need of loving care.
It is true that some people only deal with 'cute', and that's their issue. Be part of the solution instead of making negative comments. Find a child to feed; it is not that simple...better yet, donate money to feed one.
You can't judge that situation because their house could have burned down and they couldn't take them with them to the new place they had to move to (probably a shelter). There could be a number of reasons why pets are sometimes left behind.😞

The poor cat must be extremely hungry to meow so loudly, glad to see some people there still have heart... Home cats can live up to 18 years or longer, what many people don't know is that street cats only live 3-4 years of their lives on average. I hope this cat is still alive:(

I've rescued two strays. Both last year. They were in such poor shape; worst that the cat in the video. My heart broke when I saw my first cat, an orange tabby pretty much furless and all raw skin along the back of the spine. Now, both Henry and Sonny (5 years old)are thriving. It makes me feel good, and they are so appreciative. Please rescue strays.

+whatstef I cannot reply to you or message you.This is in Dubai, UAE, this is 5 to 6 years old when i filmed this.I have changed many houses since then and i do not know where this cat is or anything about it.Yet there are new cats in our house now which i take care of,4 of them actually, and they all stay in the garden and around the house.I had to take two of them to the vet once, one for ear mites and blisters and another that contracted pneumonia and was about to die.both stayed around a week at the vets.

Rami H You didn't bring water with the food. When you give dry food to a dog or cat, it's extremely important to provide clean water aswell; dry food and no water could kill an animal.

I have been a cat owner my entire life, but some of my most rewarding moments with them have been when I helped feral cats. Love & compassion are a language understood by all creatures.

For anyone who might do this in the future. Try fixing the food w/ water. It'll easier for them to eat and give them hydration as well. A bowl if water is better but a hole would just kick it away or through it away.

He was making this noises because person who was filming him was circling around him. But this poor cat was obviously so incredibly hungry that he kept eating even though he was affraid. It takes a lot of time for a cat to feel comfortable with human being around him while cat is eating.

I feels so poor and love for the cat but since when I watch this video, I remember that the Prophet Muhammad once said, "Verily there are heavenly rewards for any act of kindness to a live animal.". Subhanallah, may our hearts be cleaned and kind after watching this video. :))

This cat is lost or abandoned. It's very dirty, feral cats do a better job cleaning themselves. This cat has the lazy instincts of a house cat. Unclean and crying to people for food. So sad.

This cat, wherever it may be, was once a pet to someone. True feral cats, aka street cats, don't meow around humans.
not necessarily. feral cats that live near houses and buildings can learn that humans always respond to meowing.

See..this is why I can't be around stray cats. I would have taken him in...wiped his fur down,and gave him a good grooming. Definitely would have kept him. Poor little guy. Breaks my heart as to how ignorant people can be. Get a cat as a pet,and then just throw the poor thing outside when you don't want them anymore. This cat could have been born on the streets as well.....still sad....because at some point,some cat was thrown out by an ignorant ass hole,who decided "Oh Im tired of this cat".

You are a very kind person. I have a cupcake shop and it has a veranda (and gates that surround this veranda. The veranda acts as a shelter for all the strays around my neighbourhood. My helpers always put fresh water and I buy tuna, cat pellets or give some of our daily food to the strays. It makes me very happy because I believe all families have a lot of food that we can spare for these strays...
