My issue with KTNE is that for a lot of modules you need to establish what to call certain puzzles and elements, like the icons puzzle; one person says Psi, the other says a chandelier! It's hard to establish these things with brand new players

this may not be as"video game" as something like ultimate chicken horse, but jackbox has proven itself to be a long-standing entry in the list of party games that are most commonly played with me in the homies edit: holy shit 8:00 I called it
The fact that I instantly recognized the bedroom background at 7:38 as Doki Doki Literature Club means you must legally lobotomize me before the brain rot gets worse.
I've noticed a lot of people mention the skill gap issue with Ultimate Chicken Horse but modifier settings also exist, plus you can change the points settings. I make it so bizarre with my friends that even I, a pretty good player, will tend to lose matches against them. The settings are there to make it a more even playing field lol
Yep you can handicap yourself to only 80% of the points, or you can increase comeback points, or you can add a respawn option etc etc. The game is like infinitely replayable just because of how much shit you can do in it and mess with the modifiers
@@Slothchimesskill gap issue does also exist in chicken horse and in gang beasts you atleast have the ability to gang (hah) up on good players. Also basic controlls for it are sorta easy to learn
@NoFlu the controls are literally the reason i never played that game again. And i played smash melee completely. It controls like shit, maybe that was the point, but i hated it
@mystraunt2705 personally I think the physics may not make you always feel perfectly in control but it gives a big fun factor. Also in terms of party games it's just you and some friends playing local and I'm not sure everyone's gonna be on the higher end of skill for the game yk?
oh yeah! Reccomendation here, with all the things you said I think Frantic fanfic is in fact, a TOP TIER party game by those standarts. Go try it with friends, its free, its for all devices and dont let the word fanfic scare you, its a BANGER
3:07 getting points despite losing is supposed to fight against a negative feedback loop; In a game where the worst player doesn't receive any points, they won't be able to buy any perks, putting them at a disadvantage against those who probably can purchase perks, _decreasing_ their overall chances of winning, putting them at risk of losing again, which means no coins, which means no perks, which means losing again, so on and so forth. I can't defend the other stuff though
Let's hope eventually we get a jackbox top 10 games party pack so we won't have to buy several versions just to get the games we want. Or even better, a custom jackbox order so everyone gets EXACTLY what they want.
Ultimate chicken horse skill gaps, not really People who have mastered the movement can make the level as hard as possible for others while still being able to finish it. Other players can make things easier but since all winners=no points they are lot more hesitant on making things easier than the good guy is on making things 10x harder. There is the comeback point bonus if you win, IF
Highly highly recommend rounds. My favorite 1v1 game to play, that is incredibly repayable and the skill gap can be adjusted by taking worse upgrades. It has a rouguelike upgrade system where you pick a card that effects your build every time you lose a round. So the player who's getting beaten is getting stronger and stronger. Fantastic game and I absolutely love how twitchy and good the movement is.
one thing you didnt point out about speedrunners is that the skill ceiling is incredibly high for a party game. it kinda goes hand in hand with how you said the game isnt replayable because the game can become monotenous, but if that doesnt slow you down, you ruin the game for everyone else because you´re just innately faster than everyone else, either from experience of the map which may let you frontrun with minimal risk, or tech like tackles, fast falls, crate blocking, effective grapple use etc.
Yep. The speedrunners skill ceiling is unbelievably high. I find it more oppressive than someone being too good at smash because at least in smash everyone can team up against the biggest threat and basically frame trap them for doing anything. The items also feel like they don't minimize the skill gaps in the same way they do in something like mario kart. Most items can be avoided in most situations with enough skill and positioning imo, so there isn't really anything like a blue shell. I don't know if this is true or not so I might be wrong, but it *feels* like you have equal chances of getting any item regardless of placement. So in first you can still get the bullet bill-like invincidrill for a free win. Or you can just use map knowledge to place unavoidable traps. Still absolutely adore the game though and I'm rly glad it's being talked about here. More people should play it honestly.
currently sitting through carameldansen, I have absolute faith that there will be something worth it on the other side of this EDIT: Aaaaany second now EDIT EDIT: man somebody really looked at those face proportions and thought "yeah, that looks good." Song is still a banger though EDIT EDIT EDIT: anybody else realized that tiktok basically reinvented nightcore but with lofi and folk music
I’ve been really enjoying PlateUp, it’s like Overcooked but you can also start automating your kitchen. Randomizing maps and mods definitely made the game infinitely repayable.

Ultimate Chicken Horse absolutely has a skill gap problem. Make the level too hard for everyone but yourself. The only way for other players to stop you is to make the level impossible for everyone, but that just keeps you in the lead until the end of the game. This happened with me and the ones I tried to play the game with.

this may not be as"video game" as something like ultimate chicken horse, but jackbox has proven itself to be a long-standing entry in the list of party games that are most commonly played with me in the homies
edit: holy shit 8:00 I called it
I love seeing speedrunners and crawl getting more attention. I love those games to death
The fact that I instantly recognized the bedroom background at 7:38 as Doki Doki Literature Club means you must legally lobotomize me before the brain rot gets worse.
Ballsack caught me off guard at 1:36
3:00 that background is from my favorite regular show episode
I've noticed a lot of people mention the skill gap issue with Ultimate Chicken Horse but modifier settings also exist, plus you can change the points settings. I make it so bizarre with my friends that even I, a pretty good player, will tend to lose matches against them. The settings are there to make it a more even playing field lol
Yep you can handicap yourself to only 80% of the points, or you can increase comeback points, or you can add a respawn option etc etc.
The game is like infinitely replayable just because of how much shit you can do in it and mess with the modifiers
I just love how he knew crawl, just revisited it with some friends and I kinda bullied them with 2 slime upgrades.
Where was Gang Bests?
High skill gap and controls are difficult.
@@Slothchimesskill gap issue does also exist in chicken horse and in gang beasts you atleast have the ability to gang (hah) up on good players.
Also basic controlls for it are sorta easy to learn
@@NoFlu I've never played chicken horse myself. But good point on gang beasts, unless the rest of the lobby is really good.
@NoFlu the controls are literally the reason i never played that game again. And i played smash melee completely. It controls like shit, maybe that was the point, but i hated it
@mystraunt2705 personally I think the physics may not make you always feel perfectly in control but it gives a big fun factor. Also in terms of party games it's just you and some friends playing local and I'm not sure everyone's gonna be on the higher end of skill for the game yk?
the amount of party games my friends and I convicted ourselves to buy some $10 party game we probably played twice is insane
the fact that he actually made the link work is gold
I'm just so surprised you nailed how people play said party games so perfectly.
Its gonna be jackbox im calling it now
I love quiplash and fibbage tho !! I hope they make one whole jackbox with only sequels to both of those games just to spite you
Never thought that being Caramell Dansened would be better than being Rick Rolled
oh yeah! Reccomendation here, with all the things you said I think Frantic fanfic is in fact, a TOP TIER party game by those standarts. Go try it with friends, its free, its for all devices and dont let the word fanfic scare you, its a BANGER
8:18 CHILE MENTIONED
3:07 getting points despite losing is supposed to fight against a negative feedback loop; In a game where the worst player doesn't receive any points, they won't be able to buy any perks, putting them at a disadvantage against those who probably can purchase perks, _decreasing_ their overall chances of winning, putting them at risk of losing again, which means no coins, which means no perks, which means losing again, so on and so forth.
I can't defend the other stuff though
just found this channel, and i'm having a blast. loving all your videos thus far. definitely gatekeeping newer fans when you get more popular.
Let's hope eventually we get a jackbox top 10 games party pack so we won't have to buy several versions just to get the games we want. Or even better, a custom jackbox order so everyone gets EXACTLY what they want.

"However, these games are over 16 years old and, what the h*ll" got me so hard
I love how 2:45 is the most replayed 💀
Bruh 😂
It's from 2:34 to 2:50 but close enough

Man that is so true...
Ultimate chicken horse skill gaps, not really
People who have mastered the movement can make the level as hard as possible for others while still being able to finish it.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: anybody else realized that tiktok basically reinvented nightcore but with lofi and folk music
The quiplash slander is crazy work my friend
Have you played Pummel Party? It is an indie version for Mario Party. Definitely needs more maps/boards but is solid
I’ve been really enjoying PlateUp, it’s like Overcooked but you can also start automating your kitchen. Randomizing maps and mods definitely made the game infinitely repayable.
@@happyplum2822 overcooked is super fun

As a Texan, I tried to visit your site, and I think it is bugged. All that was there was a video of the 3 most masculine men in Sweden. Please take down this European propaganda or at least put a content warning so that people are not subjected to Europe without their consent.
the longer i watched the more it felt like the ultimate party game was gonna be jackbox
And it was
Great video
ultimate chicken horse better
Ok
Ok
I was waiting for him to say jackbox this entire time I love this game so much
Ultimate Chicken Horse absolutely has a skill gap problem. Make the level too hard for everyone but yourself. The only way for other players to stop you is to make the level impossible for everyone, but that just keeps you in the lead until the end of the game. This happened with me and the ones I tried to play the game with.

As Jacob Box, CEO of Jackbox, thank you for endorsing my games. As a reward I will be giving you the win button, which does what you probably think.
