      not just the team, he lifted NYC.
      im born and raised in NYC in the 90s. played varsity in brooklyn and started going to games at the end of Ewing's career. then we kinda sucked, we had Alan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, Camby... but nothing was going on. Then when there were rumors we'd get Melo and Stat, I prayed it wasn't true. Cuz it would mean we would be stuck with his contract for at least 5-10 years... and Melo is NOT a ring-winning all star. let's be real, when has a PF ever won a championship on his own aside from Dirk/Duncan. and Melo is like a D Leaguer compared to Dirk/Duncan.
      after 10 years of that garbage ball, we finally got 2 weeks of Linsanity. the whole city lit up. sports bars didn't even really play knicks game anymore, but everyone had it on with the volume up. damn i missed that basketball energy in the city.

      Then the next season the Knicks were a two seed in the East behind leading scorer of the NBA Melo. The Knicks were fun to watch when Lin had command of the ball because he opened up the teams offense, as a good point does. But once Melo or Harden came into the picture, the team stagnated back to one or two man iso plays.

  • @boogieloo1831
    @boogieloo1831 7 лет назад +74

    This was the best time in NY basketball since the old Ewing Knicks and it still has yet to be matched. Literally two games before this, the Knicks were terrible with zero ball movement but Lin's breakout that game changed things. They were 4-11 before that and after, without Melo and Stat, all of sudden, not just Lin but the entire team had more swag. They were have fun moving the ball and Shump, Lin, Fields, Jeffries, Chandler etc. all looked like best friends because they had suddenly, overnight become a winning team.
    But of course Jim Dolan the douchebag and really Melo had to ruin this. If Lin had been allowed to stay and had been nurtured in one system for a few years, he'd be as good as he is today, a few years ago. And maybe the Knicks could have had a very different team culture. Instead, today we have D. Rose who to the untrained eye looks better because he holds the balls and scores more but doesn't lead a team and contribute whatever is needed each game to win like Lin.

    Back in the day Phil and Steve used to get hyped when Arenas was still relevant. But ever since he left things have been hard. Even with wall, but hey. lol

    LOL, John Wall, the #1 Draft pick outplayed by Jeremy Lin an undrafted player who made less than 800k with the Knicks.
    Who's overrated? That would be that overpayed John Wall.

      Dude, they had no tape for Jlin. Second, D'tonis system empowers the point guard. Stop ripping on Wall.

      ***** Why would they need tape for Lin? Wall knew who he was. Lin done him up in the D-league before. LOL

      I doubt Wall would remember all of Lin's tendencies from that one game. Plus his tendencies would've changed under a new system and with new teammates.

      Very True! If you watch the summer league games when they both came out of college...Jeremy Lin did the same thing. John Wall got schooled 2 years ago as well.

    John Wall is not as good as he thought. He just totally defeated by Lin.

    I’ve seen this video a dozen times, but I just realized Lin received cheers from Wizard’s fans when he scored at 1:03. And this was only his third game during linsanity..
