    The Linsanity era never gets old. I can't stop watching these videos of those games 3 years later. The NBA needed this. Fans and the world needed this. The electricity. The unity. The brilliance of a dream, and a role model to make the diamonds of hope sparkle. I really miss this. Nothing like it, ever.

    We must remember that, because of Lin, the Knicks made it to the playoffs in 2012 yet some of the Knicks responded with negative comments about him when discussing whether or not his "poison pill" contract should have been matched. Melo said the contract was ridiculous, suggesting the Knicks should not try to match it; Chandler said Lin couldn't run the offense properly; JR Smith said that Felton was more unselfish than Lin. Lin, on the other hand, encouraged Knick fans to continue to support them after he left because "they are some really good guys"; repeatedly reminded fans that the other members of his team should be praised as well because he did not win games alone and that he really wanted to come back to New York because of the Knick fans. (See quote below.)
    "I love the New York fans to death," Lin said. "That's the biggest reason why I wanted to return to New York. The way they embraced me, the way they supported us this past season, was better than anything I've ever seen or experienced. I'll go to my grave saying that. What New York did for me was unbelievable. I wanted to play in front of those fans for the rest of my career." - Jeremy Lin
    As a Knick fan, I thank you, Jeremy, for for the wonderful memories in New York. I will continue to support you no matter what team you play for. (Hopefully, the Rockets will let you go to play for a team who really wants an elite point guard.)

    • @wetheridge
      @wetheridge 10 лет назад +24

      Ironically, Felix, the Knicks are considering trying to get Lin back (as part of a package for 7-foot Houston Rockets center, Omer Asik) given that Felton's performance, most likely due to injuries, has fallen off as of late.
      I am still a Knicks fan but always hope that Jeremy Lin scores at least 30 points against them -- just to prove a point.

    • @wetheridge
      @wetheridge 10 лет назад +5

      The Knicks had the right to match another team's offer then keep Lin. When the other team intentionally makes an offer that the Knicks won't match because it is too high, that extra high offer is considered a "poison pill" because it kills the deal.

    • @EasyBreezy41

      thank you..very well said! exactly mine feelings too...it was the best time as a knicks fan, he led us to the playoffs, guys like jeffries, fields or walker started to play ball. It was not just jeremy who played great, it was the whole team.. and we had fans everywhere! Every away game there were some Linsanity fans cheering for him because he electrified the league.
      Like you've said it, I really hope he gets to a team which needs a pg, because at Houston he cant or better said he must not show what he really can.

    been watching the series, and I noticed something. a lot of the time, if a player or the team is having success with something, they tend to repeat it. I see with this team overall, and for sure lin is driving this, where they have a tendency to do something different after a really good play. lin drives in and does his magic, next play he's in the corner while other team look at him, while rest of knicks are making another play. and he keeps doing this, and it's overwhelming the other team at points. they just kept supporteing each other and it made some real magic happen. all success is based on cooperation. I think this was a rare moment, lin was at center, but rest of team was also just tuned in and letting it happen. rare and beautiful.

    Classic example of how stats aren't everything, 10 points and 13 assists are good numbers but they don't fully illustrate how brilliant Lin was in this game. You can visibly see how everyone on the floor feed off his energy and make spectacular plays of their own.

    • @l3ftie578
      @l3ftie578 11 месяцев назад

      that's what I love so much about the pg position. If I'm having an off shooting night or I'm getting pressed hard by the defense I can focus on surveying the entire court and both teams to help my teammates, and that creates a positive feedback loop with them. The more they score, the less attention / aggression is pointed at me and then I can do my own work again. The more you pass the more you get it back too, that's another positive feedback loop. I like the amount of control the position allows you to take over the pace and plan of the game.

    Quite apart from how good Jeremy's playing ability is, is how amazingly humble he is. Look at 0.12. At the height of Linsanity, at a point when everthing was going for him, the mand makes it a point to go over to the opponents side to acknowledge and give the man who cut him at his previous team a hug. I am not sure if sure i could do it with somebody who had written me off. Way to go Jeremy.

    I'm impressed by his team first mentality as he prioritizes finding the open man that has the best chance of scoring. He had more assists than the entire opposing team. That's just ridiculous. On top of that he makes every one around him look like a superstar. Loved the alley-oop plays he set up. A true team player will do whatever it takes for the team to win, including benching. Perhaps if Melo would have accepted a diminished role until the end of the season and allow Linsanity to continue, who knows, maybe he could've gotten a championship ring.

    Watching the Knicks with J. Lin as point is enjoyable basketball. Such a shame he got bullied out of the league.

    I hope Lin goes to Spurs at some point while Duncan, Parker, Ginobili et al are still playing. He can learn loads and benefit a lot from a system like that. Nevertheless, playing on the Lakers with Steve Nash is bound to be a good learning experience.

    I seriously dont remember when the Knicks blew any team out before Ewing days untill Lin did this run. The basketball was just going to open man in good position.

    Been rewatching these highlights and it's unreal that Car-ME-lo and Knicks management just dogged this squad, trading some of them away for peanuts. They were playing some beautiful ball together. Making it look so simple and easy and fun. Proving that good teamwork can outshine so many of the ballhogging, self-aggrandizing "All-Stars" out there. The only time the Knicks were fun to watch since the Ewing era. Bunch of morons. I hope Lin gets a good complementary squad around him in NJ for the next couple of years. Wish I knew where Fields and Novak disappeared to.

    Being a PG you are mainly the person who’s supposed to make plays and gets assists. When you can do that, you will make your whole team look like all stars.

    I know the era has become more 3 pointers nowadays in the year of 2023 with Steph Curry, but I personally prefer to watch this type of old school PG to C pass game like how Jeremy Lin did. It is so entertaining to watch. Lin plays exactly how I like to play.

    In hindsight, this team was good! I mean look at how they play pick and roll with Amare and Chandler! It's just like Nash and Amare back in Phoenix! Plus, D'Antoni was there!
    Go to Spurs Jeremy, you'll be a great sixth man for us :D (go replace Ginobili once he's said and done, also I'm excited at what wonders Popovich could do with you)

    Man, the garden was electric. They should've traded Melo and gotten another all-star wing guy or defender that was team first. They had Amare and Tyson - they just needed one more all-star that could develop with their young core. They would have been fun to watch for years. And imagine the marketing dollars that would come in. It would be the story for a couple of years.
