  • My old welding rig is worn out. But it makes a lot of money. I’m going to do a three-part series on what kind tools you need to be acquiring. And most of the tools that we use every day. I hope you enjoy it. #weldingrigtour #weldingrig
    This is my journey to welding pipe. Welder motivation. You can do it any of us can do it. You just have to sacrifice a little bit it to gain a lot. Welding pipe really saved my bacon. I hope this helps somebody have a great day!

    It’s important to go to welding school but it is more important to learn how to weld. It doesn’t matter what you do just practice and keep practicing. Nobody can hold your hand. It’s up to you. American Welding Society! Welding schools!

    My grandfather gave me great advice for buying tools." Buy the tools you can afford. Then borrow some and buy better tools "

    You made a very important point that I hope was heard by all those just getting out of welding school. You’re NOT going to be a top dog weldor the first time you walk onto the job or in the shop fresh out of school! You’re going to pay your dues and if you want to succeed, you better suck it up and say, “yes sir”, and get in there and do the dirty, grunt work and act like you like it even though you’re cussing under your breath with every fiber of your being. Being the new guy with no experience, the work site politics alone will run a lot of people off.

    I met union pipeliner a year ago or so. My buddy made him a custom pre fabed weldin bed. Nice guy, so i went on to tell him about my weldin rig/trailer. A Vantage 300. Gas powered compressor. In a utility bed mounted on a old 1 ton military trailer. (Works wonderful for me). He looked at me in dispair. Then i proceded to suggest brackets for a gin pole. Again a look of dispair. To which he proceeded to inform me it was not politacally correct to have anything more than your bare neccecities to perform yor job. They have a image to maintain and world be laughed off the job if they had had anything like that. Then apoligized forbeing blunt. I said i wasn’t offended at all but was concerned thats all he could do.

      Lol! That’s par for the course. I’ve never been in s union. The truth be told the union really did a lot for the pay of welders. I guess too much of a good thing starts to have diminishing returns.
      I’m glad he was a nice guy I’ve met some real assholes

    Red Fox and Demon Wilson, Sanford and son. I used to get such a big laugh out of the! My favorite is when Red Fox would grab his chest and say, “here I come Elizabeth; this is it, this is the big one.” lol so hilarious

    I work another trade, but "McMaster Carr company" sells pipe flange wedges that are tuff. These are long slinder about 5/8" wide made for seperating flanges when having to do maintenance that requires removing pipe.
    I'm retired from multiple facites of maintenance, but i still learn a lot from your videos. Your videos are top notch. Keep up the good work.

    As I catch up on all your older videos ,I can’t help but laugh. I went to a community college to welding school . The school was located in a unincorporated area near Novato California.
    Why is this info important well one night I needed a piece to weld went behind the shop reached down and stoped before I touched the metal . Seems the 30 inch rattlesnake wanted that warm piece of metal . I called it a night . But up at my cabin in the Sierra Nevada mountains everyone know use a spud wrench a bar But never stick your hand where you can’t see

  • @someguy4476
    @someguy4476 9 месяцев назад

    You can use the open end of the wrench to pick up pipe too, without a flange on it…

    That's one tool I don't have. About 80 bucks today on E. I'll see if I can find a second-hand one first. I might need more than one...well who doesn't need more than one of any tool they really use?
