Love the style and your vocals on the reviews. Now to the nitty gritty of things for sub $100 headphone I still do prefer my Sony MDR-V6, for more smooth listening sessions the DT880 600 ohms is till my preferred choice. Audio tecnica headphones arr not everyone's cup of tea they can tend to be tuned more for electronic music and the vocals can come out a bit too sharp at times.

Your diction is quite captivating. I find parts of this review to be quite Aesop Rock-esque in that I have to pay close attention to understand what is being said at times and that is not necessarily a bad thing. Also, I find it a bit ironic that in this case, the Audio-Technica product has a wider soundstage than the Beyerdynamic product as when you compare the DT 770 Pro to the M50X, the M50X sound a bit claustrophobic.
Dude even with my Adhd riddled brain always on 2x speed the way you read the script manages to hold my attention 👍

this is why i like Studio One's CB-01. cheap, great sound (better than m40x, imho, had em before the CB-01) and very comfortable. only downside is that it can feel cheap, but it is cheap (got mine for $70)
DT240 pro are a lot more compact and classy, I wear them everywhere no one notice it's a monitoring headphone, even the cable is really short
totally meh for the price. calling it monitor headphones while having very colored sound signature, quite funny. 3 meters cable = short. rofl.

i don't, but i have a DT990 Pro. and ik that is very neutral, and according to this reviewer the sound stage is more colored compared to a m40x (more bass heavy and forward on the mids and rolls of on the highs compared to my DT990 Pro, yes i've had m40x, was my main commuter headphones before my CB-01). also, who wears a curly cable on public, you look dumb i bet. lastly CB-01 is much more comfy, due to the fact that it's over the ear and not on ear, cheaper, and just great for the price.
Each his own I guess, I prolly couldn't wear CB-1 in public, but I know and understand that, for $79, those are the perfect option for many people
but for 20 extra $ I choose a DT240 pro over these because of its look, reparability and the fact Beyerdynamic is an old company known for its DT series of headphones being great, durable and made in Germany

Excellent video presenation - very fine content and production values ------ I should note that I really like these headphones and have four pair for my recording studio. They are much better than the usual At headphones.

What about m30x vs this? or should i really go for the 40x? 30x is in the same price range but 40x is a bit too much for me i think.
The m40x aren't flat though? and sadly in potentially the worst way. Depending on the source, the 140-160hz range is bumped by more than 5db, which is potentially the worst place for a boost. And I'd actually add that they are also very clean sounding, so much so that if you've come accustomed to any other good cans, then you're likely to mix/ master quite warm or distorted to make up. They also aren't great for listening purposes, as I think regardless of how used to them you are and how much you appreciate clarity or cleanliness, they just don't sound good.
Is it okay to use this with smartphones? Would the sound quality decrease if i use it with smartphone for listening flac or 320kbits mp3 files?
is the m40x better than this one for monitoring or music production?
