    Everyone's talking about how the murderer should be punished but the focus should also be on the police who mishandled (understatement) the case. They should receive punishment as well, along with all the other police who handle cases in a similar fashion on purpose, believing that they can get away with it just because they're police officers. They treat their occupation as a shield that protects them from anything and use it to persecute the common people.

      nathaliexlr8 (I posted this as an individual comment as well)I remember when this happened and although that the real killer has been caught it still makes me mad. I get it, when something like this happens or a spouse is killed it’s always the immediate family who they look at, not to mention this man “confessed”...it just goes to show you how people in authoritative places get it wrong. I know you see more false confessions when it pertains to a child but that’s bc they want to solve it quickly. Imagine how many innocent people are in prison bc of a false confession. It’s like they get it in their heads, you did it so screw an investigation and evidence. For example; Jon Benet Ramsey and Elizabeth Smart, the people in charge hounded and hounded their dads and low and behold they were both innocent. Like I said, I get it bc most times it is someone close, but just bc you “think” you have the right person you don’t stop following leads or the evidence. At the end of the day I’m glad this man was cleared but even then you know people still look at him suspiciously...

      The FBI is an office of law enforcement to deter the mistakes of law enforcement. It is a scam that has landed many people in prison that should not be there. The US government is vindictive scumbags.

    They had Riley’s father in a tiny, tiny room for fourteen hours. This happened after he’d been awake since four thirty that morning. They berated the man telling him he did it. They wouldn’t quit. He likened it to being in a burning room and there was only one door left to be able to get out. They broke him down mentally. They should be punished just as well. Anyone who assisted in getting him to confess should be in jail. Hell, there were tennis shoes found with the name Eby written on the tongues of the shoes. They could’ve caught this man if they’d all done their jobs. Instead, it took years and years to finally figure it out. Everyone who was involved in this case failed this family and the little girl.

    To the people wondering why he only took Riley: firstly he probably wasn't interested in little boys, also he was intoxicated and on cocaine so he probably wasn't thinking straight and didn't have a clear plan, and finally it would've been very hard to take both children. Trying to keep both quiet at the same time would be impossible and he didn't want to risk waking the dad up. This is such a sad story and the way the police handled it was absolutely horrific.

    I watched the hour special about this on investigation discovery last night. It was narrated by the the Fox’s lawyer, Kathleen Zellner. It is such a tragic case that went on too long just because the police were being narrow minded throughout the investigation. According to Zellner, from the moment one of the investigators found the body he believed it was a “staged” crime scene designed to look like an abduction. It was also when they showed the father the never before seen pictures of his daughter’s brutalized lifeless body that he confessed. According to Zellner, it was at that moment his spirit broke and he lost his own will to live. Truly a tragic case and emotional case.

    I hope that the police who mishandled this case and therefore let the real killer prance around killing and raping other little children due to their laziness, are no longer police. They should only be referenced by their DOC inmate number as they were complicit in allowing the real killer to get away by not bothering to do their job correctly and instead badgering a mourning father into a false confession. Anyone else that was harmed by the actual killer in the period of time between this poor baby girls death and his incarceration should weigh heavily on the hearts of the officers as they allowed him to continue.
    I understand that the father is always a suspect as is the mother if she was there, but that doesn't mean they get to just hang their hats up once they get him in and just focus on breaking him into a false confession. No matter what they should have had someone still looking for alternate theories especially since they knew how they got the confession.

    Police botching an investigation or criminal prosecution should be held accountable as criminals. They must be shown to have conducted a proper and professional inveatigation to be exonerated. This case is such a brazen disregard of other people's rights.

    Also… This is why it’s detrimental to make sure your home is locked up tight with an alarm set!!!! I have a toddler, and since day one he has been quite the escape artist. Countless times I have been practically asleep with my eyes open, BUT I make damn sure my son is asleep and safe in his bed, (his windows are fake/don’t open) and my house alarm is on!! I live in a very safe neighborhood, but just like this family’s experience…it could happen to ANYONE. My house has baby locks on everything because my toddler has figured out how to get out of the house by himself and turn on the kitchen stove (gas). It’s 💯 best to be overly cautious and protected when it comes to your children and your home. It’s absolutely disgusting what this father went through, however, I find his actions, as a parent, that led up to her abduction extremely negligent.

    Why is no one asking HOW she got taken ??? Never says a door or window left open. How did this happen. And also, why after picking up the children did he not put them in bed like a regular parent but lay them in the livingroom ?? I'm sorry but this is weird. Anyone else agree ??

      +Breanna Jackson A toddler was kidnapped, raped, and murdered. Her father confessed to the crime after being coerced by the police, but was cleared after his DNA was found not to be a match with the killers. He later won $8 million in a lawsuit against the police.
      A neighbor, who was on parole later confessed to the crime. His DNA was a match, and a boot was found at the crime scene with his last name written on it.

    What does gagged mean?

    • @thlma1015
      @thlma1015 9 лет назад +2

      The thing: a piece of cloth put in or over a person's mouth to prevent them from speaking or crying out.
      The action: To choke or reject the object traveling too deep in your throat resulting in making a noise (That you make when a toothbrush goes deep in your throat.)
      put a gag on (someone).
      "she was bound and gagged by robbers in her home"
      "a dirty rag was used to gag her mouth"
      (To make someone unable to breath and suffocate/ Choke to death with some cloth or rag.)

When will justice be established with those who badger people to confessions? I personally met a man who was badgered by cops as a boy, and they destroyed his childhood. Thanks be to God he's free now, but the sons of trauma remain.

    how exactly did the man entered the house? and how did he know the dad was in his room and that the mom wasn't around. like how did he know to go in that specific house. ? how did he know that no one was with/ nearby the kids.?

    • @Nga_Babaye
      @Nga_Babaye 7 лет назад +2

      He entered through and unlocked back door. His original intent was just home invasion and robbery, the little girl was collateral, unfortunately, and was not the primary target from a textbook I have. It doesn't indicate what he planned on taking, but the videos of the house show the family didn't have much. I assume petty cash, laptops, and MP3 in 2004.
      Unfortunately, a lot of robberies happen with the family inside asleep, and they never knew someone was in their house, and many of these aren't planned out for more than a quick sweep of the property.
