I told myself the episode wouldnt get to me but it did. The compassion the Deputy or Sheriff had along with detectives and community was touching. Is it known if either Royce or Kim ever changed their story? Kim seemed to downplay her involvement too. I also wonder if the biological Father ever saw signs of abuse prior to them splitting up.
The law enforcement officers had 1000x more love and compassion for this little baby than her own damn mother. Makes me sick...

I'm a 67 year old man and this story absolutely broke my heart. I just can't believe that people are like this. Especially a mother. When the officer said the mother confessed her daughters last words were " I love you mommy" it made me tear up. Those words are meant for loving and caring moments. Memory making moments of joy. Just wow. My praise to how these gentlemen worked this case.

A lot of child murder cases really get to me, but there's some that really upset me. I am both a victim and survivor of child abuse and if I had any children of my own, I would never subject them to the same pain I had to endure. Children are so precious and the fact this 'mother' was blessed with such a beautiful baby only to subject her to abuse and pain makes me angry enough to see red.

The irony in this is the grace that Riley gave to her mother as she ended Riley's life.... "I love you, Mommy." How undeserving of these precious words from her baby.

It is similar to Gabriel..poor baby coming to school with pieces of his SCALP cut out..yet he STILL wrote her a Mother's Day Card saying he loved her so much. It is gut wrenching.

The mom tries to diminish her responsibility in her baby's death. How could a mother ever put her child through anything approaching what that baby went through?
They don't care about the baby because it's needs are seen as trouble for the mother.
The baby is a burden.
They don't want to breastfeed, they won't get up at night and they turn the responsibility over to their man no matter what he does to the child.
They stick by their man no matter what anyone says.
Don't ask me how I know.
You never really get over such a painful rejection even decades later.
I guess she had her own trauma or whatever and my needs weren't that important.
Breastfeeding causes chemicals/hormones to flood your body and they help you to bond to your baby.
Please feed your babies if you have them. If you don't love them, please give them up for adoption.

Exactly! That's why new laws need to be put in place to hold both abusers accountable! The mother's tend to get off with a slap on the wrist as long as they testify against the boyfriend/spouse. That's not right. both abusers should be locked up same
There is no answer from us outsiders. It must be given by the murderer who never speaks of the REASON why he killed. Only in a few cases and after so many years of imprisonment do they tell the reasons for the murder.

I accidentally bumped my first-born's head on the door frame as I walked through it while holding him. It wasn't even hard enough to make him cry, but I still remember (sixteen years later) that horrific feeling of knowing I'd caused my baby pain. I simply cannot fathom how a mother could allow another person to abuse her child like this, let alone take part in it herself. It does not compute.
I did the same thing with my first born, and then thought he had a bruise!! it turned out to be a birthmark but for a month I thought I bruised my newborn baby with my carelessness! really we all are doing our best, mama's, usually, and we would not have allowed anyone to do what the birth giver of Riley allowed
When my dog was a puppy couldn’t walk down the stairs I got the worst bruise on my arm smacking it into the wall avoiding his head I’ve had old pets pass away I thought I’d be heart broken forever can’t have kids like is it laziness to not give that kid up for adoption cuzz I don’t want to think somebody could want to do that pets mean a lot to people sad to know that people treat there pets better any random stranger let alone there own child

This is definitely a question I would like answered. However, I also have a question aimed for the mother here. Why allow your SO to abuse and hurt your child like this? According to some reports I've found out about this woman, she was also an abuser that was enabled to abuse and terrorise her own child by her equally monstrous SO... allegedly.

I think one of the biggest issues this country faces as a people is poor conflict resolution skills and poor emotional regulation. Someone that doesn't have emotional regulation won't stop and walk away. Someone that doesn't have conflict resolution skills doesn't know how to deescalate a situation from becoming potentially violent in the first place. So yes, kids will push every button you have, and yes, you need to walk away, but a parent has to learn how to regulate their emotions such that they don't become so pissed they are at risk of beating their child or so that they are able to keep the situation from getting there in the first place. But to be blunt, some people shouldn't have kids in the first place.
That’s solid advice., but it wouldn’t have saved Riley. Her mother was a deadbeat, who cared more about her abusive husband than she did her own daughter. He would’ve made up any excuse to take his anger out on that baby girl

I broke off my engagement with a guy dating more than 4 years and finally living together. Things starting changing when i saw they way he will treat my three little ones at home. Plus he was a drunk, my anger and frustration will grew every day witnessing the way he will talk about my kids and talk to my kids with that tone of voice. He will give me all that crap about discipline as well, i couldn't take it no more until one day i told him to leave my house for good and if he ever comes back i will make sure i put his ass on jail. Since them i been alone and my kids are adults, and were raised under my protection and my care only at all times. So sad for that little baby Grace had no one to stand up for her, she is heaven now she is a beautiful angel now :(

I angry cried when the officer started crying saying her last words were "I love you Mommy" on her crumbling legs not being able to stand. He is sick, beyond low, but as a mother she really got me. How could you participate in killing your baby girl, how could you not save her, stop him!?!

That beautiful little babies last words were not "I love you mummy." That is a self serving statement meant to distance herself from the egregious treatment that she inflicted on her own child. Have you ever seen severely abused children separated from the monster parents who tortured them? They are not thanking the people separating them, often they are screaming, crying, and begging for their caregiver.
I look at that baby’s beautiful face and have no doubt that she tried to shine her light and love until the very end, saying “I love you”.

That was difficult to watch. I became a single parent to my beloved daughter when her dad died. She was just a beautiful little blonde toddler like Riley. I vowed to remain single and give her the best upbringing. How any mom could allow a man to be so cruel to her child is beyond me. RIP Riley.

Claiming that the woman was controlled by the man, brainwashed or whatever. There's no excuse. This woman was her mother, she had a duty to protect her child. The mother is an adult and has choices and options, the child does not. It disgusts me and angers me seeing women making excuses for this. Blaming all men for women's failures. There's a lot of horrible men, but there's also horrible women out there. Enough excuses. When you have a child your life is no longer your own, and every decision made should always have what's in the best interest of the child first, not "I'm lonely and need a man asap". It's disgusting and selfish.

I could feel the pain of these men during the interview. When I heard she said, “I love you mommy”.. I’m crying so hard right now.
I have twin grandbabies and they just turned 3.
My granddaughter is the most sweetest little thing. She is sweet and spicy. So much personality, it’s absolutely beautiful.
She will put her two little hands on my face and say, “I love you meme.” That little voice, the little eyes and hands and the pure love and forgiveness that they give.
This poor baby even after everything they did to her she still said, “I love you mommy”. After experiencing all that pain, fear, anger, hate, from the POS that gave her life she still showed forgiveness and pure love.

And I don't believe for one second that Riley said "I love you mommy" this is obviously to make her mom feel better and also hoping that by telling the officers what Riley allegedly said would make her seem as if she didn't do more to her than what she actually did. There's a lot of double standard, giving women a pass for "trauma" when they abuse or murder their own children or other vulnerable people. I don't see excuses for men when they do it. If we want a better society and future, we ALL have to do better.

This story really tore me up, especially when Riley said “I love you, mommy.” She was saying that to stop the beatings. They should have stopped beating her because they knew what they were doing, they knew she was in pain, and should have called 911 before it was too late, but it was so late. The mother should have told him to “stop, this is my child. I’ll take care of this.” But she took Royce’s side. Both of them are complete monsters. They went to far with Riley. 😢

When my son was a toddler he was a monster and ran me to the ground so one bad, one day I put him in his buggy and took him to social services a told them I’m at my wits end they were lovely with me and my son they made me a cup of coffee and took my son to another room with toys they got him into a mother and toddler group and surported me till I could cope their is no reason to hurt a child there is help out their .
He was a child not a monster and next time use a few commas. THE ONLY monsters were the two who murdered this lovely girl.

My daughter passed away December 3 2022, my life has not been the same since that traumatic event. I’ve spent the last year just so devastated and unable to move forward in life… how any parent could purposely hurt and actually kill their child is beyond my comprehension. They have to be very sick and mentally stunted to even have the ability to do what they did to their own child. Rip baby Grace. I know her name is Riley but she deserves a name chosen by all the people who loved her ❤ I will call her Grace.

I will never understand a mother who would allow anyone to hurt their child or hurt them themselves! Where's their lioness mother protectiveness?? This is such an excellently produced show. I could barely handle the details , the trauma these amazing people have endured in the name of justice is immense. Rileys mother - is HEARTLESS . I cannot fathom even living without my kids for a minute let alone bring calm and collected like this.These women who chose men over their children are disgusting. I can’t with them. I will never understand how complete strangers (like myself) can feel utter heartbreak and would..if given the chance, take that lottle girl in as my own.. yet her own mother who carried her and watched her grow cam stand by and allow her to be hurt and killed! Utterly heartbreaking 💔

I’ve known about this case from I was a teenager. I’m now a 31 year old mother of a 16 month old daughter and re hearing this story again in my new circumstances hits me so different. As frustrating as parenting can be sometimes, how anyone could do something like this to their own baby is beyond me. Plus her saying I love you mommy 😭 how was that not enough to make anyone stop what they were doing. This poor poor baby. I want to wake my sleeping baby so bad and give her the biggest hug ever right now

As a mother of three beautiful girls this quite literally makes me feel sick to my stomach. Next time I’m frustrated or having a hard day I’m gonna just hug them tight and be so glad they’re happy, loved, and alive. I can’t even imagine a “mom” doing something like this to her child. My heart goes out to that poor baby. I hope so badly her little soul has found peace.
I just started this, and already I am Fkd' up with sadness. That precious precious baby. 😢 I have no sympathy for the mom. I would give my life to protect my child. You'd hafta take me too, and I wouldn't make it easy or fun for you.

This baby wasn't being difficult and this wasnt the first time!!! They were abusing her for months the Grandma even saw it when she changed the diapers and told them this was unacceptable why isnt she in this video. They continued to torture her because she said can i have, instead of may i please have!!! Most two year olds cant talk and he tortured her for not knowing to say please and may like wtf!!

the artist saying that the case was difficult because the baby looked like her child... thats because she did draw her child, it was stated that you couldn't identify the decomposed child, so she drew typical features of a baby but her subconscious drew her child...
