- Nine years after release, FTL is still a great game... but can it be made better with mods? "Captain's Edition" is an overhaul mod that reworks the game balance and adds a LOAD of new content, in the form of weapons, events, crew interactions, and more! It's also supposed to be a lot more difficult. So let's power up the slug cruiser and save the galaxy!

Imagine you are a merchant in space, you own a space shop, and then you see a ship teleporting to your shop, get in contact wih you, they look like they are suffocating, cut the connection, then after a while they contact you again and start shopping like nothing happened.
After a while you've seen it all. :p
More likely you see wreck jumping out in to your system, satelited by sea of debris, blazing fires from his engines, you think "Oh, free scrap" and then communicate link pops in with purple faced men gasping in excitation to the cam "SHOP!!!"
morale of the game: everything that looks menacing can mean 2 things: its useless and cant harm a fly or it can shred you in a matter of seconds.

Captain`s Edition has a lot of different, specialised or niche weapons and it`s hard to get decent weapon setup with some synergies. If you see something good in shop buy it even if you can`t use it at the moment.

I’ve seen people playing this game for so long, and watching this play through is the first time I’ve actually started to understand wtf is going on! Never realized just how cool this game was!

While a neat idea, I'd scrap the jammer and generator too as the jamming doesn't seem reliable enough and there are plenty of better augments to replace them or even use the scrap to buy a module.

Real contrast to your slow but steady mantis pirate run. This mod is brutal! But it has added some new variables and excitement!
Juuuust in case you haven't learned it by now, the crew doesn't need to STAND in the medbay for it to heal them. So you can have everyone healed by having the medbay full, and the rest running back and forth inside it by targeting the rooms around it.
Love this series. I've been a long time FTL fan, but haven't tried any mods. Guess I should give this one a shot, looks very cool.

Autofire is critical for fast firing weapons to be effective easily
For a beam weapon (auto beam) you should only have to click (don't hold click), drag a line for it's target path, then click again to confirm.
Don't destroy enemy ships if you want loot...
Especially when they are in no condition to damage you

The moment the slug ship appearead I knew it was a trap
if max crew health were only 10% less in this game you wouldve lost all but maybe one or two this episode
That sounds like a pretty average FTL fight to me. There are times where you will get stuck right down to the wire, and probably loose. Never a guaranteed win.

This game is so brutal lol I bought it today on the sale but I haven't been able to beat the game once. Furthest I got was sector 7 XD
tip (don't read if you wanna learn everything yourself): you're probably not upgrading your engines enough!

Upgrade medbay at least to level 2. In case your oxygen system got destroyed, medbay level 2 can still heal you. What you see in this video is the exact reason to do so. Medbay level 1 only stop the depletion of health while level 2 can still regen your crew's health though slower.
@@adammaxi they help quite a bit against all weapons except beams, and It's crucial to have upgraded engines against the boss especially in the third phase, ofc getting 2-3 shields should be prioritized

It sounds more like the Auto Repair that Engi ships have, were Hull breaches reapair themselfs.
