Instead of sitting with the rest of the women in the Abbey while this procession was taking place, Princess Anne asked the Queen whether she could march behind the coffin with the men to pay her respects to her grandmother. The Queen said yes. She was the only female member of the Royal Family to do so, and I find it so fitting that she did. A very nice tribute, and I doubt The Queen Mother would’ve expected anything less.
Funny thing is, I never thought about a gender issue watching this, surprising it was inserted actually. but now that you bring it up, I find the ceremony here so very masculine and it's wonderful.

I was disappointed with the BBC coverage of the Queen’s funeral. The Queen adored the bagpipes but Hugh Edwards & David Dimbleby saw fit to talk over the bagpipes incessantly. Typical of the BBC to try & make it about their nonsensical twaddle instead of just letting us immerse ourselves in the proceedings. To me very little commentary was needed, it wasn’t a royal wedding. It was a sombre cathartic experience for us all, a chance for us to lament her passing & we really did not need to have the likes of silly Cherie Blair pointed out to us.
We took our three kids up to London to see the Queen Mother lying in state at Westminster hall. We queued for ages across the bridge over the Thames in a biting winter wind, finally reaching the other side by the houses of parliament to be greeted by volunteers handing out hot drinks. Finally reaching Westminster hall and entering to find a surreal scene of the flag draped coffin with four cavalry men with bowed heads resting on reversed swords. I shall never forget the quietness and calmness of that scene whilst people slowly filed past the coffin in silent respect.

Hi, its only fair to mention that I am not the originator of this video. I put a copy of it up when the previous copy was taken down a number of years ago, because I believed that it was too good not to be seen. A display of our best during a solemn time so to speak and so unequivocally British. I can take no credit for this.
Every time I watch this video, I am always amazed at the dignity and perfect stride of the horse at 3:26. It's almost like the rider took the horse aside the night before, gave it a good brief on what the next day entailed, and the horse understood every word.... watch the hoof falls land in perfect time with the cadence drum...
1:15-1:27 The soldiers are called to attention, Mist Covered Mountains starts playing and the bell chimes, all in just those few seconds. Lump in throat every time!
They first re-surfaced the road so that her journey would be a smooth one, and then we all had the meaningful beauty and solemnity of this to watch. Won't EVER forget this spectacle.

We here in Hawai'i are proud that we were once part of the UK under the Kamehameha Monarchs. Our last reigning Queen passed away on November 11th 1917.
The Queen Mother to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, visited Banting House National Historic Site on July 7, 1989, after making a whirlwind trip to London, Ontario during which she unveiled a life-size sculpture of Dr. Banting and lit the Flame of Hope. I was honored to be an official photographer on site that special day. If I may say so, she was a treasure. It would be the first and last time that I saw the Queen Mother. Although a brief encounter, I shall never forget her smile. Today, I came across this amazing post, some 27 years later, having just viewed, another wonderful post featuring the Black Watch Pipe Band. I was moved to see this spectacular display of the Pipes & Drums (in perfect tune and step) marching in mass ~ in tribute to the Queen Mother :) Did you notice the bell tower sounding 440 pitch 'twice' as the chanters struck low-A in near unison. Beyond the obvious sadness of the occasion and funeral procession, that seemed haunting to me.
I'm joining the Army Cadets soon, looking forward to it. And when I've made a success of that, I'll be off to join the Royal Marines in the Royal Navy. Cadets and Martial arts will prepare me to serve Great Britain, Rule Britannia, God Save The Queen And Country.
Even more magnificent than this, for me, is on the clip entitled "Queen Mother's Funeral, Conclusion, Part 2", from Canadian broadcaster Rafe Heydel-Mankoo : the middle part, about ten minutes or more, is of the massed pipes and drums striking up a lament as the Queen Mother's coffin is borne out of Westminster Abbey, and continuing to play until the coffin is put in the hearse and the latter is driven away. For practically all this time there is no narrative - just the camera panning across the scene of the Royal Family standing to attention all the while, along with military retinue, and of course, the massed pipes and drums, playing beautifully a moving lament.
Woody.EXE played the pipes in our procession with me, my sister, my 2009 Woody and Mummy walking behind Woody.EXE. The pipe was heard throughout St Julian’s that day and again on Remembrance Sunday

@@MrSebboxxx these pipes were about long before nations my german brother.. Its in all mans blood these beautiful things.
Shame on David Cameron for his systematic dismantling of our armed forces and other public services in favour of for-profit making private companies.
Whats that got to do with the Queen Mothers funeral?
Probably because Frederik, Cameron has butchered this country so much we can't afford things like this
Rob Bc
So when the current Queen dies there wont be a funeral like this?
Rob Bc
And according to "Freeze Tag", there wont be a funeral like this ever again because the Prime Minister has cut down on the UK Armed Forces?
Oki doki then!
Fredrik Häll
Its alright all these fancy Scottish regiments are OK, only English regiments are being cut. Anything to preserve the union.
This is impressive as fuck though, no doubt about it.
in the abbey even Queen Magrethe II of Denmark a reigning queen reagnant and her sister Queen Anne Marie of the Hellenes an exiled queen consort curtsied to her passing casket after the service commenced
Beautiful and dignified. British history recorded for posterity. Well done Dippers85
Hi, its only fair to mention that I am not the originator of this video. I put a copy of it up when the previous copy was taken down a number of years ago, because I believed that it was too good not to be seen. A display of our best during a solemn time so to speak and so unequivocally British. I can take no credit for this.
Thank you to the end of time for preserving this!!
Yes that lead horse is pretty special lol
The original Scottish Queen Elizabeth. Held the family together! Great art collection, too.
Such a cacophony.
Full of beauty... replete with misery.
Emotion of such contrast to make the heart beat.
God save the Queen.
1:15-1:27 The soldiers are called to attention, Mist Covered Mountains starts playing and the bell chimes, all in just those few seconds. Lump in throat every time!
Yes, please never remove this off RUclips and deprive others from seeing, hearing and feeling this.......
They first re-surfaced the road so that her journey would be a smooth one, and then we all had the meaningful beauty and solemnity of this to watch. Won't EVER forget this spectacle.
I was part of the massed pipes and drums that day, 20 years ago😬
Then 20 years later, Woody.EXE plays them for Queen Elizabeth II. I felt very honoured to be standing right by him in our funeral procession with my 2009 Woody, my sister and Mummy behind. Woody.EXE I’d the greatest monarch of Wales ever
@@nicolelawless9942 eh?
I am a 54 year old man, couldn’t really describe myself as a royalist but this is something very very special, somehow it makes me feel proud,i get very emotional and have to hold back the tears,it’s the wonderful pipers the drums the timing, one of the best videos on RUclips to show the rest how it’s done..fantastic 👍

Must've watched this a dozen times (am a piper) and still tip a hat to the Brits for doing a beautiful and precise job and seeing the Queen Mum to her final resting place.

Thank you very much ;
... what a beautiful and extraordinary moment when the pipes are slowly fading and the drums overtake ...
The days where police officers didn’t need to wear a stab proof vest and carry a taser
Rest in peace Queen Elizabeth.❤️❤️

Nobody in the world comes close when it comes to ceremony and grandeur than the UK. The Queen is dead, God save the King!
The scots were always groveling to the english.
Rule Britannia
We here in Hawai'i are proud that we were once part of the UK under the Kamehameha Monarchs. Our last reigning Queen passed away on November 11th 1917.
Todo es muy perfecto 😲que pasaría si uno se equivoca en un paso? Tanta práctica yo creo que lo mandaría a volar
The sun never goes down on the British empire...God Save the Queen.
Try and beat that. No chance.
No one does it better than our beloved UK
@@nicolelawless3199 You're off your head.
Thanks from Austria! PLS Dont stop to recognite who borught so much for the people! And never take down this video pls!!! Much love...
Literally the best video on RUclips.
Goosebumps....simply beautiful
I'm joining the Army Cadets soon, looking forward to it. And when I've made a success of that, I'll be off to join the Royal Marines in the Royal Navy. Cadets and Martial arts will prepare me to serve Great Britain, Rule Britannia, God Save The Queen And Country.
God speed.
Keep out of Ireland.
On Monday September 19th 2022 we will see this again
We might depends if Elizabeth II has requested it
Woody.EXE played the pipes in our procession with me, my sister, my 2009 Woody and Mummy walking behind Woody.EXE. The pipe was heard throughout St Julian’s that day and again on Remembrance Sunday
What a send off. Pipers just hit that sweet spot.
My husband loved this clip. He died suddenly on Monday 29th aged 46. Does anyone know where I can get this music on a CD please? Is there a CD of the Queen Mother's funeral? I want to play it at the end of his funeral. Many thanks.
Such a shame to loose your hubby, hope your keeping well, and living your dreams
Sending love to you Alexandra ❤
Heartbreaking and beautiful
