Another tip that some may want to try: Making the water warm and mixing in a bit of hair conditioner will make the magazine pouch stretch even more. This is an old trick that people use when their clothes are shrunk in the dryer.
We actually shot the new annual rifle qualification with a chest rig instead of war belt and standard mag pouches because of this issue. I was fairly impressed with the chest rig, and I’m also extremely impressed to see this video. Semper Fidelis, Sir.
Lincoln Dexter Ne we did not wear plate carriers or SAPI plates. We wore the chest rig slick, utilizing the integral mag pouches it has. You can see what the chest rig looks like here ruclips.net/video/PkIumrx-taU/видео.html
godofawesum223 No. The USMC chest rig is completely different from the load bearing vest. In fact the LBV is being completely phased out of the infantry battalions. It serves little purpose as it is not compatible to be worn with the USMC plate carrier. The chest rig however is compatible to be worn over the Plate Carrier, as well as IMTV, and can also be worn stand alone.
Wait, you mean to tell me that people are bitching about PMAGs after years of fighting their command to be allowed to buy PMAGs with their own money to replace the aluminum magazines?
I do think PMAGs are better than Standard GI mags. Fixes the issue of bent feed lips causing common feed issues. That mag pouch is gonna have to be updated to work with these mags tho
Asus Asus Your comment is sad. Having to break in gear has nothing to do with anything you mentioned. You could buy the best boots in the world but if you don’t take the time to wear them around and break them in, they’re going to suck.
Rifle Shooter Channel that, that doesn’t apply here This has nothing to do with “breaking” the mag pouches in. The mags don’t fit in them. So you have to stretch the pouches so the mags fit
I REALLY wish the army had something like the Div. Gunners in the Corps. This would cut down a lot on the fuckery that is the acquisition and SOP clusterfuck that goes around concerning weapons standardization, hearsay bullshit-based TTPs, and a whole load of other garbage that comes from the top guys who haven't touched a weapon in years.
Gunnery Sergeant you are a genius and to you and to all the United States Marines, thank you for your service and I hope to earn the title of United States Marine someday.
I totally thought that this was sufficient, but now we got these new mag pouches, and they’re garbage. No stretching necessary, but the plastic straps on the back side are a headache.
Just like the Marine corps to explain to you how to "fix" shitty gear they issue you instead of getting you better stuff. And then go on to penalize you for buying better gear
Yeah they issue the taco pouches now. Also when Marines get their own gear they usually don't abide by the guidines or sops set by command. That's how you end up with guys buying shit airsoft stuff or multicam packs ect.. you absolutely can get your own stuff as long as you follow the guidelines
Hmmmm, spend millions on new gear procurement and wait months if not years for arrival or improvise, adapt, and overcome for free and still achieve the same end result.
Because the GI mags are old as fuck and more broke than most Marines on Med Sep. That and the old GI mags don't work with the new model 5.56 ammo they are replacing the old legacy M855 with.
I mean, with all the extensive testing that you do on your gear and equipment you'd think that you'd test something as simple as whether or not the magazine fits inside your damn pouches...
Those were for old pouches for old magazines. Mow they issue new magazines that are little bit wider. Why would you replace all pouches when you can simply make them fit new magazines.
Proof that fielding tests are ignored by the high ranking desk jockeys! Should NEVER be a reason to make a correction video for such a critical piece of gear.
The magazine change technique is what I have a problem with being shown as a legitimate method. Should be grabbing a fresh mag first, then bringing it up and changing with L method if you are training to retain for a rapid mag change. Pouch stretching technique is as old as time itself.
Could we substitute pens for crayons? I can never find pens, however I always have snacks on me.

There are no half measures in the Marine Corps. It's all or nothing.
Just another way for CIF to turn away gear
Dalbir Singh I was about to say the same 😂😂
Its just water ?

This is why i love the Marine Corps, we make everything work no matter how shitty it is
CIF: "It's too loose. Where's your original pouch"
I love the sense of humor that all of these videos have.
Same old Marine Corps Overcome the situation
Typical Marine Corps fix for a problem that shouldn't exist.
@screwyour feelings Work smarter, not harder

I love just how gently he put the mag in the water. lol
Yeah, then CIF charges you for ruining the magazine pouch.
better than being dead.

obviously.

To there credit. The mag pouch was originally designed for the old aluminum magazines. lol
I don’t believe this

Yes.
no one wants to be the gear-do in the platoon

Why should we have to buy something that should be issued
You’re issued gear, you don’t buy it. It has to be uniform so even if you COULD or WANTED to buy a better mag pouch the Corps wouldn’t let you 😅
What’s wrong with aluminum mags that warrants switching to pmags?
Doritos bent feed lips mainly
I am going to assume that this PSA is an intermediary fix while the MCSC ICE gets us an adequate magazine retention system.

Just giving you a heads up, he is not a Gunnery Sergeant, he is a Warrant officer. When you get a Warrant officer in the infantry he is a Gunner.
