Offensive Guy, The M27 IAR from HK has a squared off magazine well that isn't compatible with most non GI spec magazines. Only the Gen 3 PMAG, USGI mag, and the HK proprietary steel mag will fit the M27. Older Pmags will not fit in HK rifles, neither will a lot of other STANAG type magazines from other countries.
Adam it is a Chief Warrant Officer, with the MOS 0306. Infantry Weapons Officer. There are less than 100 Marine Gunners in the entire Corps en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infantry_weapons_officer
I///M Obsessed well there is two things to say about that. Have you been in both the hottest, and coldest environments as mentioned in the video. And have you conducted any other military standard testing of said magazines that might challenge those magazines more than normal range fun. I’m not saying they wouldn’t pass, and I don’t think he did either. They just haven’t done all the testing to for a fact know that they will be serviceable under any circumstances.
Not a marine, but I didn't know you guys had a choice on what was issued to you for deployments, I thought it was just the spec ops guys that got to pick, and the regular forces get what you get and you don't throw a fit.....
They are not serviceable. I am a former 0311 who currently teaches tactical rifle classes at a local range. Me, and many of my students are having problems with the mag catch "lug" or whatever it is rounding off causing over insertion, causing the bolt to drop on the magazine, and not allowing a round to strip off and chamber. This is a recurring problem I am seeing over and over. I will be contacting Magpul, and will post their reply here.
Incredible video and I do watch alot of different types video's on rifles and magazines too.green and blue and tan and black ones. But each of them have different weights and different sizes to them. I've watched training and drills and live fire too..But how much do each of them have to go through..water mud sand is that all. or more? can you please explain it to me?
Who would deploy with a 20 round mag nowadays anyway? This isn't Vietnam.Im also assuming from what he said that Marines don't use those metal 30rd magazines in the field anymore?
There is a popular photo of a Navy seal , LT. Murphy . Photo him in afganistan with a USGI 20 round mag attached to the side of his stock. Smaller size must of made it the right choice . Obvious all others were 30 rounders . Interesting he went old school.
When I was in Iraq, I was a gunner on a humvee. I used a 20 round mag anytime I was in the turret and not going to dismount. Made moving my rifle in and out of the hatch easier
WHEN I WAS IN RUSSIAN ARMY I ACCIDENTLY BROKE MY MAKAROV PISTOL - I JUST PULL THE SAFETY TRIGGER TO STRONG IN HIGHER POSITION AND BROKE IT - HIS JUST FALL DOWN ON THE GROUND - PISTOL NOT SHOTING STILL THIS TIME - NOBODY CAN REPAIR IT. FUCK IMMA TRUE HATER OF WEAPON - I NEVER SERVED TO DEATH
yes, this is from FOX news (the technology section, weirdly): www.foxnews.com/tech/2017/01/12/marines-get-groundbreaking-unstoppable-new-rifle-magazine.html the drum mag is the Magpul D60 and the 40rd looks to also be from there, but I cant be sure
The polymer magazines that are authorized are Magpul. The drum and the 40 round magazines are both Magpul as well, the D60 and PMAG-40, respectively. The hybrid steel and polymer magazine is a Lancer, the 60 round quad-stack magazine is a Surefire.
My old style metal magazines work just fine. I have more rounds through them than most Marines will ever fire. Heck my 20 rd Vietnam magazine was loaded for 40 years and works just fine today. I guess authorized magazines makes them better? And yes I have done it full-auto.
You have to understand that they use multiple weapons that take these magazines and some of these mags do not work as well as others with some of their various weapons. Especially the M27 IAR and M249 SAW(Yes the SAW can be used with AR mags).
Guess someone didn't do their homework when designing them. I understand government screw-up. Now lets see which magazine did they drop? Oh darn wrong one! LOL
The main reason they are replacing the old GI mags with the PMAGS is because most GI mags have been in service since freakin desert storm 1990. They are old, worn out, busted up, bent and warped. And even though when a GI mag is found to be unserviceable it's suppose to be set aside and marked for dermo but they almost ALWAYS find their way back into circulation. The problem is getting so bad that it's seriously risking people lives. So Solution, Throw them all away make them unauthorized and buy everybody Pmags.
Briton Kirkland Some Light Arms include M203, M27 IAR, M16A4, M4, M240 Golf, M249 SAW, M2 Browning 50 Cal (Probably the M2A1 as Well), MK19, Beretta M9, M110 SASS, Barrett M82, Barrett M107A1 SASR, etc. MARSOC also has some of their own stuff.
>When the Marine Corps didn't ask H&K to change their IAR magwell spec for a British Blank firing SA80 mag so they had to wait until 2017 to use Pmags

Kinda defeats the purpose of a STANAG... you know....STANdardization AGreement....
that is the only reason the M2 Pmags did not pass
Gotta love gunners. They're super weird but damn they know their sh$$.
Right?! 🤣🤣🤣
Anyone thats been in the Infantry that long cant be normal
I feel like sometimes the Gunner isn't available to record so they hire Michael Keaton in his place
Gunner Wade was my battalion gunner at 3rd LAR, he was CWO3 then, a decade ago.
Samehere brother.
Same here
My unit recently switched to pmags, and they've been nothing short of a success.
im just a civilian but I have a few ARs and PMAGs of any generation have worked flawlessly in all of them. Not so much with the metal GI mags.
Nothing but the best for our marines! But let me go ahead and get issued 50 year gear that doesn't fit
Dat Offensive Guy someone's butt hurt. Lol fuck you and fuck Germany
HANHdrew I’m not a marine but what is a gunner? Lol not trying to be stupid but is that a rank

I agree. Thanks for the clarification on what they test for.
Green Follower still lives
rah!
Happy Independence Day!!! Thankyou all who have served!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
The mags I got from armory are fucking terrible
Ask your Custodians or Armorers for a One-For-One swap of any bad magazines.
Semper Fidelis
Im no Marine but ive put thousands of rounds through my window pmags. Never had an issue.

I love my PMAG's
Now that is multitasking!

Marines sure know their shit
When I was in had 4 extra 30 rd.mags and 4 extra 45 mags.1911a1
The Lancer Systems Magazines are better than my PMAGs!

Where’s your cover? Sir?
I have a pair of surefire 60 rder for a least3 years . They never fails even in a M4A1 in auto mode. Never tested like you said fuck they are great.
Thanks gunny
How can you marines still use aluminum mags? They deform too easily when you lean or crawl on them or drop them on their feed lips.
Is this at Camp Lejeune?
What about my drum mag?
Hope we get that drum mag soon!
Why was this filmed in a cornfield?
I should've asked my LT if I was authorized to watch this video
Where’s his cover
Brady Reser Right ?
Poor guy held up the magazine he said ya can't deploy with and told y'all to deploy with it and bet your life on it.
Marine corp forever.

its about functionality in multiple weapons such as M249 and M27 IAR

Ya saw how he said dont deploy wit da blue mag but at da end said ur teammates life might depend on it?
depend on the blue magazine in training, as training helps keep Marines alive and performing well.
GWV DRIVER 07-08! OORAH SERGEANT MAJOR!!!
