As you may hear, English is not my native language so I might come across as a bit negative or blunt. But like I said in the video: I am a Toyota fan. If a car ranks a bit lower it still means I think a car is cool, just a bit less then the others.
I really like the look of the SW20 however the ST185 looks a bit weird to me in the proportions. That off-course does not take away to the fact that it is a really cool car!
As a Corolla T-Sport Owner, just seeing my car in a tier list makes me happy, at least here in Scandinavia it is the Forgotten Hot Hatch of the 2000's It is though a great fun little car that packs quite a punch and handles great in the corners, Love that 2zz-ge screaming away at 8200 RPM
Just got a 93 mr2 it has a 2GR v6 swap tho. So I would put that above the 3SGTE motor that came factory. Plus it sounds so damn good like fuck man. Every time I drive it it’ll put a smile on my face. Love the car! Glad I could get one before they become unaffordable like mk4 supras.
What do you think about the fwd lot weaker mk4 celica? Thinking about buying one for a first car bcs gt4’s are rare in eu and im afraid to get an mr2 beacuse of os😅
Those cars can be pretty cool. If you look out for a 2.0 gti version you get the same engine as the na sw20 mr2, with a little luck even an LSD. There is also some aftermarket for these cars however a lot more niche then the mr2.
Depends on which oil issue you mean. They each had their own unique issue with oil. Early 1ZZ-FED engines in the Celica and MR2 Spyder had oil burning issues due to clogged piston rings and piston oil return holes after ~150,000 miles. A new piston design fixed this by 2003. 2ZZ-GE have a risk of oil starvation due to their lack of a baffled sump. Very high revs partnered with lateral force in a long corner can cause oil to move away from the oil pickup. Fixed by installing a baffled sump.
You forgot about the matrix/corolla XRS! Might be too similar to the T-Sport though since it had the same engine, just sold in the north american market.

I don't understand why the prize is taking up such a big role for ranking a car. Some cars are expensive, yes, especially the ones with alot of history like the ae86, but this has nothing to do with the car itself. You've just looked at it in a too simplistic, small minded way. You've pretty much said your only appeal to it and stats were, that it once was a cheap car and a rear wheel drive corolla for drifting. There are alot more values to ranking something, if you're specifically not doing a ranking after the current market, but about sporty cars, then maybe you should bring up more facts and stats of the car. It has a long time cult following, is a great drivers car, was successfull in alot of races and had a big impact on the drift scene overall. It started it to be exact. And idk tbh, why you rank the mr2 aw11 so much higher then this. The Mr2 did have alot of downsights compared to the ae86 and was overall less loved by the masses. I didn't like this, hoped for more.
Hi Lumosaft, I think we all have a different way of thinking and different tastes. I personally have quite a marketing minded way of thinking. Instead of rating on mostly looks, you should separate into best performing in different racing categories. Why? Because looks are mostly subjective. A car can look cool, but perform like shit, lol. My list: Best drag racing: KP61 Starlet Best Rally: ST185 GT Four Homologation, AE111 Corolla WRC Best drifting: AE86 Corolla GTS Best circuit/Autocross: ZZW30 MR-S Best hill climb: ZZW30 MR-S

It depends on the market you are in and the editions of the cars. Here in the Netherlands a clean zzw30 will go for around the same as a non-1jz Supra.
The only issue I have with the gr supra is the fake air vents and the non functional styling, that type of stuff has never been toyota. Toyota has almost always been “you see it, it does something” type of company. It’s almost embarrassing to see fakness on even their top level trim of the “supra”
I also think the GR Supra is better as a sportscar, even with the high prices for the mk4 right now! If it was not for the huge pop culture influence the mk4 has, the GR Supra would probably have ranked higher.
From the stories I heard the stock internals of the 1JZ can handle less power then the 2JZ. The cool big plus of a tt 2JZ is that you can get huge gains with mostly a stock engine.
Yes I have seen the footage from Tokyo autosalon! Really cool concepts, hopefully Toyota will keep developing cars like this to keep enthusiast cars alive in the age of electric cars.

Putting the st165 in the c tier is a travesty. I own one and literally everyone i meet looses their minds about it.

The ST185 Celica GT4 is one of the best looking 90s JDM cars ever! It has the same design language as the SW20 MR2, so do you think SW20 MR2 is ugly?

Cracked ranking, 7th gen Celica is vastly underrated and should be higher but you put in in C because of mostly looks... lol
There is also the Toyota Chaser/Cresta (the JZX chasis cars). They were JDM only but they are great cars.

I had a Supra RZ and it's a good car for the era but it's overrated. Sold it and built a 3.5L V6 Turbo SW20 MR2 much better car for twisting roads.
