Tim Heidecker is one of the most brilliant comedic minds of our time. A genius who will go down in history as one of the greats. It has been interesting to see him open up and speak more candidly about his work in recent years, given that before he would usually be interviewed with Eric Wareheim and they would sabotage the interview and turn it into a work of comedy in itself. Now though he seems more willing to talk about his work and where it all comes from. Also he's a super talented musician and has decent politics as well.

Decent politics? I'm not a fan of his, but I might actually try to be now.

@@bigduke5902 He's a socialist. The real Tim, not his parody of the American right character you see on On Cinema. Wasn't sure of your response so was just making it clear.

His body of work is definitely worthy of canonization. I don't find him to be a particularly good stand-up comic, but his talent as an actor, whether in sketch comedy, parody, or whatever, is just exceptional. Heck, if On Cinema was the only thing to his name, that alone would place him up there with Candy, Belushi, etc.
All this *despite* his uninformed political view, of course.

What he did to Sam Hyde was pretty crappy though. Tim And Eric were the reason why I laughed as a teenager. It’s the old “Don’t meet your Heroes” type of deal.

Tim has a great cooking show, we always use his Russian dressing recipe and the Honey Mustard. I wouldn’t recommend the cocktail sauce, I know Eric doesn’t like it either.

I never realized he literally is doing an Albert Brooks impression for so many of his characters lol

You can really see how Brooks influenced Tim Robinson as well.

I always suspected Cindy Sherman’s photography had some impact on Tim Heidecker. She does grotesque and unsettling portraits that reflect on artificial image. Some of it is comedic. It’s often a play on entertainment culture and the superficial absurdity of our media. I was at a Cindy Sherman exhibit down in New York a few years ago and I thought “This is Tim Heidecker material”. There’s something even dark and slightly sinister about it and I know Tim can get creepy. The times we live in can produce common responses, similar voices.
