Just realized Gregg's explanation is taken straight out of the wikipedia page of Jitterbug 😆😆 "Early history Jitterbugging developed from dances performed by African-Americans at juke joints and dance halls.[16] The Carolina shag and single Lindy Hop dances formed the basis of the jitterbug, which gave way to the double Lindy Hop when rock and roll became popular."
It’s probably because they took Gregg’s insights and found them useful for the Jitterbug page. They obviously can’t use just anybody’s explanation though because Wikipedia requires that you cite only the most knowledgeable experts.
Gregg is just that smart, he knows exactly where to go for hobbyist and or historical informationes. What I love about Gregg is he puts a bit of himself into every character. Reading from the Wikipedia entry on the jitterbug? A pure Klingston move right there.
Only true Gregg fanatics can appreciate this. The man is truly in the same vein as legendary directors like Orson Wells, Stanley Kubrick, and Tim Heidecker. Keep up the great work Gregg. Your date with Oscar is just around the corner.
Oscer is going to be smiling, no...*grinning and clapping* when he sees this movie. This is definitely going to give The Hobbit movies a run for their money come awards season!
This is the kind of next level entertainment the world needs. Gregg manages to combine a compelling plot, world-class cinematography and an excellent score with his trademark expertise. Oscer, it's time to come home to the VFA
I had to run it back several times to see the cut between this and the actual movie cut scene. A near flawless recreation. The audio really brings this version into the lead though.
I'm going to dock this scene one bag for not having any munchkins in it for a rating of 4 bags of popcorn... but then I'm going to go ahead and reinstate that bag because I have been waiting so long for the lost jitterbug scene and witnessing cinema history being made, for a total of five bags, I loved this scene.
Who is the actor with the hat on the right side of the screen? He’s been giving such an incredible performance. I know Brendan Fraser has been getting a lot of Oscar buzz but I think this mystery man could be the write-in favorite in 2023.
Finally some eye candy in the On Cinema universe! Mummy's don't usually do it for me but that hottie is pulling it off! What is the name of that saucy little devil?
I am just now seeing this?? Why have I not subscribed to HEI network?!? All my time I could have watched this masterpiece of phlegm! All hail Oscer and his favorite buff!
I bet Tim wishes he could have been in this awesome movie moment with you Gregg! Too bad he burned that bridge, Tim Liedecker I call him! Thanks Gregg. #bringbackmovies
Christina Calph, who plays Queen of Hearts, was in a short film called Queen of Hearts in 2017. Is that something she told Gregg on the Oscar special a few years back when they were in that car? (I can't remember if that's something she mentioned -- if so, then that's the germination of the Deck of Cards idea)
Time will tell, when the history books are written as to how ground breaking this reconstruction was. I'm not sure people have truly appreciated it yet.
Fun fact: that real horse is actually a product of high level CGI. it takes a true moviegoers keen eye to notice this though so I don’t blame you guys for not noticing it as fast as I did
Nice to see Greg finally being allowed to shine without Tim’s ego dragging him down. Mark however clearly needs an attitude adjustment. Unfortunately, Tim is the only one capable of managing that.
Gregg needs to stop pining over Kylee and ask out the lovely queen of Harts. Maybe it's just the exciting music, but you can see a lot of romantic chemistry between them in this scene. Plus, we know she's a big Arthurhead, so they already have a lot in common.
This requires 7 levels of context and a paid subscription to understand
This isn’t bull shit either yall.
Yeah but once you get all that this feels like total ego death
Welcome to being a smarty pants
It's pretty simple. Greg loves movies
late stage comedy
Seeing Gregg this happy is horrifying
it should b illegal
No person deserves happiness less than Greg. His shitty van almost cost Tim his life, and it cost Manuel his ability to speak normal
Not as illegal as killing twenty kids
@@WintersNstuff holy fuck, I was out of the on cinema loop for 2 years. What happened?!
@@JawRippa life, death, love, heartbreak, animosity and reconciliation. The main takeaway is that Tim is the hero and victim of this story
I'm glad I made a room of five people with no On Cinema knowledge watch the entirety of Deck of Cards. Everyone was so lost
I wish I could have seen that room.
Greg is so dedicated to the craft that he even quizzes his actors. Just like Quinten Tarantino!
Quinten Tarantino! From?
@@dylanjoseph583 the right answer is Kramer VS. Kramer. which was actually a sort of unofficial prequel to Reservoir Dogs.
Gregg’s commitment to film history and preservation is commendable
I live how he always waits as if everyone knows his very specific and very obscure trivia
the best part is there usually isn’t even a single right answer
Nice detail that the Joker character is also a movie buff just like the actor Gregg Turkington. Art imitates life!
A nice tip of the cap
The Jocker strikes again!

This is a powerful scene for all Oz-heads
Oz head here and I just gotta say I also loved this and I did rejoice

The neat thing is that watching the clip converts non ozheads to ozheads immediately.

God, what a dire prophecy

I feel like I'm tripping everytime I watch this scene. 5 bags of popcorn and a friend to talk me through it.
I thought I was the only one. Acid flashbacks of an intense nature. 5 bags and I might add a little dancing bug to represent the jitterbug
And don't forget one copy of 'Dark Side of The Moon' to sync up with.
The claps still echo in my brain, thats how powerful this original scene was.
It was original when Oz did it. This is a remake.
This is the perfect mix of CGI and practical effects
this aspect ratio is professional Hollywood at its finest

One of the movie scenes in history.
I don't know how they managed to get the budget to shoot this scene, especially with the Cameron-esque CGI, but oh man... This is why I'm a Greghead.

1:24 the face everyone makes when I try to explain On Cinema to them.
So sad but true😢
No joke, I just turned 42, and sticking with On Cinema is one of the more rewarding commitments I've ever made in my life.
Feels good to finally see the famous jitterbug scene that I both knew about and also hadn’t yet seen!

Wow.. this has to be the first time I ever see this recreated exactly as it was originally shot by MGM Studios

Great segment
Brilliant… Five bags of popcorn🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
I learned a lot.
I’ve got the Oscer fever. Amazing.
Believe it or not, one of those characters was completely computer generated!
He almost looked like Tom Cruise Heidecker Jr. as a young adult. If only things had been different.
truly, the most important piece of cinema since Citizen Kane
Still can’t believe Greg pulled this off
Gregg’s incessant clapping is so brilliant lmao
A true classic of cinema
Give greg turkington a budget for a full length feature film and we will all be terrified.
I imagine this scene will be shown before DOC is given it’s OSCER
I really want to see this through the eyes of someone who is unaware of this universe.
Is that Tom Cruise Heidecker?
"DECK" of Cards. Curious.

Mark steals the scene again.

Oh the jitter... oh the bug.
Greg plays Virgil in Dante’s Divine Comedy 🎭
but what was the runtime of The Wizard of Oz?
Poor Mark...
This is exactly as it what was created by MGM studios ! Oz heads can finally rejoice !!
I dont havr the funds for HEI credits. Ive been so lost since 2019

Then I recommend that you follow the famous “Yellow Brick Road” from…? The Wizard of Oz, the one starring…? Judy Garland!
Jitterbug's runtime is 45 min (2022), hopefully that helps clear things up for you 😊
"Lost forever" shows clip from it lol

Too bad the scene was cut. And if Buddy Ebsen hadn't stepped down he would have nailed that scene!!!!!!
Im glad tim destroyed the extended footage of this, this already brings the film to a stop and an extended version would just be worst
