    Christine. I just tried your cast on and it’s so neat and clean. Thank you. I’ve made many of these hats, and comparing mine to yours is. ( well a big difference on the inside where you have to pick up the live stitches.) I’m so happy you made this tutorial, and sure you’ve helped many knitters. Please continue to share your lovely patterns with us, and help us with your tutorials. God bless. ❤️

      It can be done if you really prefer straight needles. You will just need to sew the sides together to make a hat shaped tube. The seam will show a bit in the back. If you can get circular needles, give them a try. It seems awkward when you start to use them the first time, but soon you'll love the speed and convenience of not having to turn your work and reverse the pattern to get a consistent front side.

    Does anyone have a gauge for this pattern? Mine keeps coming out too big. I'll try going down a couple needle sizes, but having a gauge for this pattern would be great!

      Kyla Smart I used a #7 and got about 16 stitches to the inch. What it was supposed to be for the hat I don’t know but The circumference of the hat for me was 17 inches so I think I could have gone up to an 8??

      If you're using a worsted yarn you can use the same needle size she used. If you're using a sports or dk yarn then you will need to increase the number of stitches..along with the amount of rows you do for each set of the pattern I would try maybe 100 for a sport or dk yarn and size 4 needles..
      Knit the brim until it's about 5 Inches. Or so then join..
      If you have a way to try it on (maybe slip it onto longer needles) then try it on and see if it'll fit your head or if till be way too big or too small before proceeding further..

    So, has anyone measured the height this hat should be for a messy bun? I've made this hat several times for adults and baby but I've not tried the messy bun just yet. And I'm wondering if the knot in that elastic can come undone easily? That would worry me.

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  3 года назад +1

      I just made it the same as the regular beanie, but put the elastic through instead and that worked perfectly. Mine hadn’t come undone, so just make sure to tighten it real good.

      Anything you knit in the round can be made with DPN or circular needles .. dpn can be a little more of a hassle if you have alot of stitches but some people prefer dpns

    Thank you for this video! I found the pattern before the video and was so confused - new to knitting - but your video cleared everything up. Well almost everything. I'm a little confused about the stitch marker... Why was your last stitch AFTER the stitch marker? I would have thought the last stitch would have been the one right before you reached the marker since the marker went on top of it in the beginning. Is the last stitch always after the marker on every row?

    Suuuuuper easy way to cast on. After that, not at all. I found it difficult and too tight. Not sure I understood it fully and I kept loosing the “stitches” as I tried to do my first round of knit and purl. :/

      Chipadoodle1116 bigger than an adult size? You would go up a size needle and/or use thicker yarn

      @Chipadoodle1116 5 лет назад

      iKNITS yes, I have just made the standard size and it fits me perfect! I want to make one for my brother as well but I think it will be too tight. Would there be much of a difference with bigger needles/yarn?

    Can anyone speak to the size of this beanie? Is 86 stitches too tight? Or is it just right??

    • @loving110995
      @loving110995 11 месяцев назад

      It depends on head size really.. I can say for my almost 3 year old I casted on 72 sts.
      Using a worsted weight yarn and a 4-4.5mm 86 should be large enough for most heads.. you can always increase the number of stitches by 2 as needed. It would change how you decrease the hat though. You may end up with extra sts or needing to make an extra row of decreases

      Don't fret! It's hard for many when you're trying something new but keep at it, you'll get it. Here's a tip: try a larger size yarn and needle - like a chunky 5. You'll be able to see your work better and handle the needles easier. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    • @iKNITS
      @iKNITS  4 года назад

      Marie Milia if mine looks more of a gap then I’d like, when I’ve finished knitting, I weave my end where it tightens that gap and looks invisible. But there are other ways to do it that good as well. What’s your favorite way to join in the round?

    • @tlneill
      @tlneill 3 года назад

      Look up invisible join by new stitch a day.
