WOW! You made it seem so easy, so I tried it, and it IS easy! I am already working on a Harry Potter scarf set in green and silver (Slytherin) for a Christmas gift. Thus far it is coming along nicely.
I am a beginner knitter, and I love how you make this process sound easy. Perhaps I will try it out in a bit (also I was like “is that a malabrigo yarn in English rose” when you showed it cuz I got some in my first outing at a Lys. Very lovely yarn and I love it, but probably shouldn’t have gotten it as a beginner.)
Hey really helpful video, just went into your sites page for this specific swatch pattern. I just noticed there seems to be a typo in the row eleven step, it says at the end 'finally P6, K4 to finish the row', where the P6 is supposed to be a P5, I worry this might confuse some people... Really awesome tutorial tho thanks !! :D
Ik this comment is old but if you go to her website in the block "ways to support this channel" and then search "swatch" on the website you should find it
Thank you so much! I’ve wanted to try cables but was intimidated. I tried your swatch and it was so easy to do, I’m in shock! Could you do a video on short rows next? Thanks for initially teaching me and continuing to teach me how to knit!!
I’m so glad it helped! I felt the same way you did about cables, and simply couldn’t believe how easy it was when I tried it. I LOVE the idea of making a short rows video! That’s going on the list for sure. Thanks for the suggestion!
At 7:40 in the video you say that the cable you demonstrated is c4f, that’s not correct. It would be c8f 🤔 or am I wrong? C4F would be 2sts to cable needle, hold in front, k2 then knit 2 off cable needle…
Everything I am reading online about cable patterns say that the # in the abbreviations is NOT exactly how many to slip on cable needle. I’m so confused 😢 (PS I love your video and made my first swatch! Just trying to read new patterns now)
I’m running into the same issue! All the ones I’m seeing is that C4F is to slip 2 stitches on your cable needle, not 4. I’m going to trust what the pattern I’m following it says which is to slip 2 and then knit 2 for the cable. Fingers crossed it’s correct!

I was always intimidated by cables but once I decided to just give it a try I now can’t stop.
Started 2 days ago. Time to jump into advanced patters >:)
Thank you for the easy to follow tutorial!
I did cable when I was 14, but I'm trying a new project and this was exactly the refresher I needed. SUBSCRIBED.
Watched several videos to try and understand cable knitting. This is by far the best video explanation for me. ❤ thank you
i really thought cables were so difficult and this made me reason they are not
This was the easiest tutorial on cables I have found so far! Thank you
Thanks for the great tutorial! Your teaching style is always so clear and understandable ❤
Who else is using a spare knitting needle?
I use a spare or a paper clip haha
@SophiaHuey-cm2pb I am a double ended one, because my cable needles packed away somewhere!?

Extremely helpful. You’ve demystified the concept and I’m excited to get started

Also... combination knitting integrated into the cables really help tighten up the stitches.
This is more a video about needles, but back to cables, what to do over the next rows?
