Grail Comic Book Found in BARN after 82 Years!!!

- I can't believe it happened again. Another amazing comic book grail has been found after being buried in a barn for over 80 years. Two comic books from the same month and year were found after a son inherited his father's barn. They were doing a clean out of the barn and found two comic books from the 1940s. One of them is most certainly a comic book holy grail for so many collectors.

Thanks. I feel like they are currently doing well. I think they are fine as is especially since I have them in the top loaders.

Same, it’s fun to image the kid who has these in the van. Maybe his mom hated them so he hid in the barn. Who knows, but it’s fun to think.

What an epic find! So awesome to be able to save those pieces of history and a legendary story as well. Thanks for sharing! If it were me, I would reach out to Sanderson Studios for recommendations and ultimately send to CGC to make sure these books are preserved. Insane find my friend!
That is the way I am leaning. They are already pretty beat. Sanderson will truly give them their best life and then to CGC.
I’d have the subby 1 conserved. Repair all the chew by leaf casting each wrap, reinforce the spine with tengujo paper, seal the tear seals, clean the cover, and then press the book and restaple it with the original staple. Then after all that work is done either enjoy it as is to read from time to time or c

Excellent stuff. It will get a 0.5 if I grade it due to missing pages, but I wish I could do the work. I would and don’t want to spend $1,000s having it done.

Imagine. People are more likely to find an adult magazine collection though unfortunately. Some kids hide Action Comics 1 in the walls and some kids hide their Victoria Secret catalog. Haha.

I really loved the story how those books lay unknown for almost 80 years! Wow! No sense getting it graded because every collector is going to know it’s a 0.5 grade or 1.0 at best. Top loader will clearly do the job of preserving those wonderful iconic books and any serious collector will be willing to pay handsomely for any one of them! Good for you Alex!!! 👏👏👏👏

Yes. I agree. It’s a miracle that they survived. I would assume because the barn was mostly dry under all that hay. It’s a blessing that they don’t have any mold or anything either.

This is 100% newsworthy. Both books are great and worthy of a CGC case. I do think you should give it to some professionals to see if they can approve the books in anyway. Who knows you might get a CGC 1.0, which is better than a CGC 0.5.

This has never happened to me in 30+ years of collecting.
My only advice on that would be let everyone you know, know that you like comic books. And then be ready to buy when the opportunity ones along.

Congrats on these great barn finds. Usually it's an old car etc. LOL. Those rats had the most expensive meal of their lives on that Submariner #1. LOL. Definitely have them cleaned and pressed. Possible restoration even. Please follow up and let us know what you decide. Please bring these two books back on the channel again.

In their glory days,80 to 100 million comics per week were sold! Aside from being passed around, and read so many times they would fall apart, a lot of them ended up in paper Recyling centers for the war machine. Swiftly after the war, came the war against juvenile delinquency. By the end of 1949, Massive private school burnings of comics were being done, and continued to be done to 1954, when they went more low key and just begin to dump them into landfills. These people actually thought, that by locating and destroying every single pre code comic out there, they would stop juvenile delinquency. Fortunately for comic fans, in 1955, rock and roll was coming on strong, and the do Gooders found a much bigger target to go after. Otherwise, even the Meger survivors found today, would be far less.
