Any time I see these clips from this time, I am just always struck by what a loss it was when Lamya died. She was so talented and was one of their best backing vocalists ever. I see people commenting her mic was too high, but I am glad to have been able to really hear her again.
I was at this show. Me, my BFF, my sister, and brother in law (before he was my BIL) were in the group that didn’t get in. We were in the front row when Jay came through and apologized for us not being able to get in. Then he left and a few minutes later Duran Duran came around the corner. Being a Duranie since the age of 12 I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. Simon was always my favorite. We shook all their hands as they walked by. Simon was at the end. I shook his hand and he must have just put cologne on because my hand smelled like it. I’ve never been one to flip out over meeting a celebrity because I just see them as regular people. But, Duran Duran are one of the few that I got all fan girl over. I didn’t wash my right hand until the smell wore off. 😂 This happened two days before my birthday so I considered that day one of the best birthdays ever. It’s hard to believe it will be 30 years next month. I can remember it like it was yesterday.
