What’s tragic is she was supplanted in the end, and only through daeny did it basically end up how it should have. Except daeny also died without an heir. 😢
"The war started because Otto planted.." No. The war started beacuse the Targaryens forget where they came from and how they conquered the land. Daemon did partly. Jaerhys understood this well and didn't hand out dragons left to right. If Viserys was serious about making Raeynerya heir he must craft the alliance with those he can trust and also scare the shit out of the rest with their dragons. WIth this "dragon only" rule it would have been MUCH easier to prusade Rahyenra to marry, with his brother and multiply, and only their true born, limited to only two heirs would in turn ride dragons. This entire idea of making deals with the Andal-houses and share their power with them set the doom for the Targaryens, in that way Viserys was to weak, blinded and to influenced by the westroisi traditions. he should never have let his other born children ride dragons. Its the source to their power. And he handed out WMDs left and right. That is not what a good ruler does in that situation if you truly care about the people in Westeros. The Targaryen fuck ups did more damage to the people than the white walkers ever did. Lol. Only needed one Arya for that. The dragon rule should always had been that one of 3 dragons along as the faith and the Andal houses was allowed to remain in power. If they wanted more Targaryens in power on dragons? They need to replace the mighty houses in wetstros to do so. In that way they could have created a new Valyria over time. But the idea was not to create a new Valyria but to stop the white walkers. The rule of 3 dragons is the most logic path to take here in means of keeping the peace and power balance.
Jaeherys did hand out dragons 'left and right'. partly because its not in the power fo the king to control each of his house's members. The 'Queen who never was' wedded into the velaryons while retaining her dragon DURING Jaeherys's reign. Hell, almost all of his own children that reached adulthood had their own dragons and in no way did he regulate who gets which. The only time that he did show this facet was when dragon eggs were stolen and there was a probability of them falling into the hands of non-targaryen bloodlines. And laenor naturally got a dragon through his mother as well. Viserys can be shitted upon for a number of things but this is too much. Hell, if he had actually tried to do what you suggest, them it would kickstart a dance of dragons on a much higher scale except this time it would be the King and his heir against literally everyone else who stands to lose their power over their dragons.
@@countlitmogaphil392the reason the veleryons were allowed dragons in their family was because they were by the Targaryens side since the beginning since old Valyria they were a very trusted house jaehareys could trust them and add into the fact that rhaenys then married into that family only secured that fact and why her children were allowed dragons as well.
@@Mcherri My point is, that we dont have a precedent of a ruler ever not providing dragons to his/her brood... Its tradition and culture, something that Viserys cant really control. Even in old Valyria dragons were flourishing and their numbers rampant. You could count with your fingers how often he publicly called Alice Roosevelt Longworth "Alice" because he did everything in his power to purge Alice Lee Roosevelt from his memory. Viserys obsesses over Aemma and Rhaenyra at the expense of Alicent and her children.
Marrying Laena Velaryon wouldve been a mistake. Politically it is sound but biologically? Not even. She'll just suffer the same fate as Aemma did a lot of stillborns and hard pregnancies. Aemma had the same problem she had been too young when she married Viserys. She was 11 iirc and looked what happened to her. Laena was only a year older than Aemma when theyre forcing Viserys to marry her.
Another way dragon riders could go extinct is BY marrying too many outsiders. Dragon rider blood gets too diluted and the dragons wouldn't accept them anymore.
@@santanas1879 That's true and that's why politically it is a good idea to marry Laena. Biologically not so much. Beside Viserys already has an heir remarrying would just messed everything up. Like what has already happened.
The Green's claim would only be "he's a boy she's a girl" if it weren't for Viserys' lack of balls and Rhaenyra's selfishness. From Aegon's POV his older sister and the heir apparent is a mega hater on him for no real reason , which is why it's so easy for Allicent to manipulate him.
I don't think Rhaenyra deserves to be queen. She thinks she's above everyone and everything, that she doesn't have to adhere to the same rules that apply to everyone else including her father. Her father was pushed to marry for the good of the realm even though he was still grieving. Alicent didn't romantically like him and he did not romantically like her either. But they both did what duty calls for. If you can't do that, you won't make a good leader and you won't have many allies. It's not all about me, me, me.
You're bogus. What you're seeing here is the vestiges of a girl who lost her mother too young and clearly is still feeling the loss heavily. "I had a family"--she was referring to how he murdered Aemma here. She's not ready for romance at this point, and why is that something to be held against her? Ah. Because poor little Alicent wasn't, either. Neither case was right; however, at least Alicent wasn't tied to a gay man who EVERYONE knew would never sleep with her, while expecting her to manage immaculate conception. Rhaenyra got that deal with laenor; a good man, a good friend but TERRIBLE husband. There's no way he'd ever be attracted to her in order to sleep with her, even if she'd had the guts to try what Margaery suggested with Renly in GoT. And she didn't. (And that's ok, too.)
I don't necessarily believe Rhaenyra was thinking me, me, me. I think she was thinking of the preservation of house Targaryen. However, it's still in a way self centered. In my opinion all of the remaining Valyrians from the time of the Doom were to focused on the preservation of thier own houses, when they should have been focused on the preservation of Valyrian culture. Ancient tomes, Valyrian ship (the greatest fleets that the got and hotd world had ever known) building methods, and Smelting Valyrian steel were all essentially lost from 95% of the world because Valyrians could not get it together enough to realize they needed to be working together and marrying within the culture

3:00 "Find him yourself," he said, and when Rhaenyra had chosen Daemon, he said, "NO ! There will never be such a thing !"🤣🤣🤣🤣🥲🥲🥲🥲
Note: In the books, when Daemon and Rhaenyra tried to get permission from Viserys to marry, Viserys banished Daemon and imprisoned Rhaenyra in her chamber, then forced her to choose, telling her that she would not have the crown unless she married Laenor, and Rhaenyra chose the crown. Daemon was had to respect Rhaenyra's choice, because she didn’t say "Please stay" or "Take me away".
“The House That Puts Family First Will Always Defeat The House That Puts The Whims And Wishes Of Its Sons And Daughters First.” - Tywin Lannister.
Great scene. I cant decide if Alicent is fool enough to "Not Remember" Rhaenyra was just in there earlier taking to Viserys and he's heavily drugged Or, if Alicent thinks everybody is cowardly enough to forget and forgive what the King told Everybody (Rhaenyra will replace me).
No doubt she would've been a great Queen, she was born and taught to rule. Much like Queen Elizabeth II
No she wouldn't and no she wasn't.
her people hated her
What did Elizabeth do in her lifetime nje?
Queen Elizabeth was linked deeply to the Mau Mau uprising, protected her son Prince Andrew through his connections to Epstein and assault, and secretly stashed her money in Panama to avoid paying taxes to her people.
what even are those pop ups? Is this the disney nickelodeon saturday morning cartoon for kids? 😂😂😂
She fucked upped. Had she strived to get along with literally the only person who wanted her to be queen and played her part right, the dance of the dragons could have been averted or at least minimized. Vyseris is right if she was to be queen, she should have understood that the position comes with resposabilities she can’t just mope herself away from. Vyseris was foolish, and Rhaenyra wasn’t too far back in that regard.
Correct she is shown to be too privileged to make sacrifices like Alicent did.
Viserys should have named her regent not Alicent. He damaged his daughters claim himself
All the aegon fanboys need to take a copium pill, because Aegon himself didn't want the throne and since most of y'all hate on bobby b, Aegon was basically him in Targaryen form(minus being absolute chad who ended Targaryen rule)
Is this a deleted scene? Bc I do not remember this 😭
The added sound effects ruin the clip.
I really don't think Rhaenyra was ever truly happy even when she eventually did get the iron Throne in the book, the people sure weren't happy with her that's for sure considering they took up arms against her
Rhaenyra: "You have no more use for me..."
Viserys:" Your right I"ll marry you off to Jason Lannister, name Aegon heir and prepare him to rule"
Roll credits, no war happens.
nah hahahaha aegon isn’t fit at all
@@raf3765 if Viserys had been an actual father to him and if he was taught he might have made a better ruler. And in the Dance of Dragons he was actually a lot more competent than Rhaenyra in some regards. And even if he wasn't a great king if he had been named heir there would have been no war.
@@raf3765 not really, Aegon II would have been a decent enough because he was presentable enough to the public and that's all he really has to be. He can drink and whore behind closed doors and leave the governing to more capable men like Robert Baratheon did
@@masterplokoon8803 no he wasn't stop reaching. Both weren't fit to rule in the books
@@titakaty53 at least he was out there fighting with his army on his dragon Sunfyre, he had skilled administrators in his small council. Not a good king but better than Rhaenyra. Rhaenyra was a terrible ruler who was cowardly and never rode her dragon into battle.
Notice Viserys swears by Aemma's memory that Rhaenera won't be supplanted, but then Rheanera swears to Alicent on her mother's memory (in front of a weirwood specifically) that she's still a maiden when that's a lie. Later, Alicent helps ultimately supplant Rhaenera. By some interpretations, Aegon supplanting Rhaenera could be considered karma since Rhaenera betrayed Aemma's memory in front of the Heart Tree.
Rhaenyra lied by omission, she was careful about saying not she was a maiden. Just that nothing happened between her and Daemon.
@@nintendomusicchannel1317 Yep. She did Bill Clinton proud.
@@sgshumblecrumb6046 Ayo it was Ser Criston Cole that was supposed to be guarding the teenage girl 🤭I can't bring myself to get on her case when he couldn't even protect her from himself.
Rhaenyra swore on her mother's memory that Daemon didn't take her virginity, which was the truth.
@@fortheloveofcats2462 it was "Daemon never touched me" that she swore, not "Daemon never fucked me"; so yes, she did lie...
Why she didn't choose Daemon or Harwin Strong? This was her moment, why she loose the chance?
He doesn’t want her to choose daemon at all, she knows that
And i don’t think it would be politically smart to choose harwin either tbf
But lucky for her didn’t have to choose between them I guess
Wasn't Daemon still married at the time?
@@sailiealquadacil1284 Yes, but she still was into him.
@Dreamfyre what cant kings and princes have more than one wife or is it different in westeros?
What’s tragic is she was supplanted in the end, and only through daeny did it basically end up how it should have. Except daeny also died without an heir. 😢
“What would you have me do?” Stop copying of course 😏
Agreed COMPLETELY.
Theres really no way around it and besides, their dragonblood implies that Aegon or aemond can both claim dragons if they ever came across one. Rhaenyra cant just lock up all the dragons in the dungeons after all
Gods, those dragons riding shits were a plague. The dance of dragons was almost more of a blessing than a curse...
Firstly, YES!!! The dragons and their riders are very much a double edged sword. Secondly, Gallow Glass is one of my favorite characters from A Discovery of Witches. 👍
@BrettSmashy Odd that they named him that. Gallowglass, or Gal Gaeil if you're Irish, is a job title. It's kind of like naming a character Barista, or Plumber. 😆

@@topknot01 Nope, a brother from an evil stepmother is not a brother. Alicent raise her kids to hate Rheanyra.
I haven't been able to figure out what she meant when she says "You think a man will do it?"
Mustve been too young to realize she was into girls with Alicent, but didn't get the chance to explore that because Alicent got with her dad without telling her she's been seeing Viserys.
She’s asking if he thinks a man will make her happy
The other part of ur comment could explain why Alicent gets so pissy when rhaenyra is out doing what she’s doing with her uncle
Ew. Just no.
Any other fanfiction? She had already banged Criston and was all over her uncle
@@blissinchains did you seriously watch hotd and miss the clear romantic tension between childhood Rhaenyra and Alicent? Jesus christ the media literacy of some people, you don't need to repress yourself so hard that you miss entire relationships and plot points, you know?
The way Paddy Constantine describes it, it seems that Viserys is doing the kind of reverse of what Teddy Roosevelt did after his first wife died.
You could count with your fingers how often he publicly called Alice Roosevelt Longworth "Alice" because he did everything in his power to purge Alice Lee Roosevelt from his memory.
Viserys obsesses over Aemma and Rhaenyra at the expense of Alicent and her children.
Viserys is an embarassment. If only Aemon didn't die.
