      Otto also sees that she is the only person Daemon will back down from. They all had a look of horror in fear that Daemon was going to strike down the King's little girl. Instead, he gave her the dragon egg without bloodshed.

    Easily my favourite performance by Alcock. The confidence of how she de-saddles from Syrax and how unbothered she is by the supposed authority of the King's men, yet invested in her uncle's reasons and behaviour...love it.
    Perfectly portrays the princess that knows she's entering a tense, dangerous situation but also knows that she's in absolutely no danger herself.
    Also love that line of hers towards "the Lords".

      Their mother is actually Dreamfyre (Helaena Targaryen’s dragon). It’s not *officially* confirmed but Elissa Farman stole three dragon eggs from her which she sold in essos, which is where Dany is gifted her eggs nearly 250 years later!

    Otto was probably trying to start a conflict between brothers so if things go south, as he seems to intent, Daemon would be banish or executed for open rebellion thus eliminated from the succesion line. It was a risky move considering the hate Daemon regards towards him but a calculated one. Here Otto it was already scheming about how he can put a descendant of his in the throne.
    What was he thinking while he watched the princess flying back to King´s Landing? Probably that Daemon was not to be the only stone in his path to achieve his goals. That Rhaenyra is someone to take care from now on as the new heir and definitely she wasn´t someone easily manipulable as Viserys thus his position as Hand in the future may be at risk.

    • @lisas3545
      @lisas3545 Год назад +7

      The fact that she went to the bridge to stop bloodshed revealed that she was a leader and could prevent bloodshed. I think Daemon tested Rhaenyra not Viserys, because it was the egg she "choose" for her brother, which made it personal. Daemon is a hardened soldier and dangerous. When Rhaenyra told him he would have to kill her in English, did you see the expression on Otto's face? The soldiers? They were terrified Daemon would kill this girl but he gave in to ONLY her. It was a dangerous situation that Rhaenyra stopped from happening, as Otto would have attempted to kill Daemon.

    • @NtoTheM
      @NtoTheM Год назад +1

      While you're right about Otto's intentions, none of it makes sense.
      Daemon has a freaking dragon. The largest with a battle-hardened rider too, at the time.
      Without Rhaenyra appearing, something Otto clearly didn't anticipate, they all would've ended up dead, only for Daemon to be pardoned by his brother anyway in the end, most likely.
      And if you'll say now "Viserys won't pardon him after that" then consider this:
      What did Viserys do when Daemon slandered his dead wife and son?
      What did Viserys do when he suspected Daemon defiled his daughter and heir?
      The answer is nothing and he would've done nothing again just because his brother killed the Hand and a few knights.

    Rhaenyra would have been a great queen had she bothered to learn how to rule. She knows a show of force, but she does not know politics. I’d even go as far as to say that she believes herself above them, because she is a Targaryen. She lost her seat, because she lost the lords.

    • @raf3765
      @raf3765 Год назад +7

      She knows politics more than Aegon does. She knew who could help her get her throne like proposing to Daemon and having her sons marry Baela and Rhaena. She just lack fire within her like Alicent.

    • @troublemaker833
      @troublemaker833 Год назад

      @@raf3765 Proposing to Daemon was the politically most stupid decision she could have made. The lords of Kings Landing were literally so afraid of Daemon and his short temper and violence anywhere near the throne, that they broke with their usual patriarchal values and swore allegiance to her, when only years before they denied Rhaenys, who didn’t even seek the crown for herself but for her son Laenor. That decision for Rhaenyra was not a decision FOR a woman in her teens who had no other qualification than being a Targaryen dragon rider: No battles won, no treaties drawn, no diplomatic experience. This was a decision AGAINST Daemon. It’s no coincidence that Otto who is the one to originally propose Rhaenyra to become heir is later her fiercest foe (and yes, it’s obviously also because he wants his own house on the throne, no question. But also do you honestly believe that with Daemon as prince consort he would have lived?!). And marrying both (!) her sons - one of whom is set to inherit the iron throne and one the biggest marine power in Westeros at the time - to the daughters of the man she is already married to seems like a waste on the political marriage front and would have never been necessary had she not thought that she could get away with choosing a surrogate father for her children that looks nothing like Leanor, a short sidedness that once again shows that she does not understand how the red keeps (and it’s inhabitants) work🤷🏻‍♀️
