"# By the end of 2140, the PAC occupied much of Europe but had yet to gain control of the Mediterranean. Northern France represented a key strategic passage, but it was a narrow one, given the wall of ice that had advanced all the way to the 49th parallel. The PAC sped into Lorraine to find a small but resilient EU company holding a section of the Maginot Wall in Verdun. The T-8 Tiger main battle tank more than held its own against the newer Type 21 Nekomata hover tank, allowing the EU to hold the position for almost a month."

"Despite being significantly outnumbered, the EU forces at Verdun were able to severely deplete the invading PAC divisions. This effort was due in large part to the EUs ability to infiltrate and destroy PAC Titans before they could distribute troops and supplies to the front lines. Soon, the PAC matched these efforts, inflicting similar damage to their EU Titan counterparts."

I remember how I waited until 1am for my BF2142 beta to finish downloading and after installation, this was the first music track I heard from the game and it gave me the chills. I'll never forget that moment and every time I hear this track, it takes me back.

I played a lot of BF2142 back in 07, i can't believe it's been so long, the memories are still so fresh... But yeah best Battlefield no doubt. BF2142 kept the traditional Battlefield gameplay style but added some much needed infantry vs gunship balance which was non existent in BF2. (Remember how a good chopper duo could completely shut down the other team?)

Still the only PvP FPS that has done a good and not over-the-top job of portraying a future setting besides maybe titanfall imo but thats still really ott compared to 2142
I agree, this theme itself has something menacing to it, more likely multiple Titans in the skies above Verdun :O

Yeah, all the music in this game is menacing to some degree. I bet the composer had something special about war in his mind when he made the different songs.

This music is great! My favorite of BF2142. The song Dreams & Imagination by Two Steps from Hell really sounds like it or has at least the same feeling. Listen at 2:50 of their piece and you'll recognize it!

It was also used in comercials about a pirate documentation on the german tv station "N24". so cool :V

@bengacris USA is part of EU in 2142, if you read description of the EU assault rifle: "The SCAR 11 is a assault rifle in Battlefield 2142. It is the combined effort of multiple US and European arms manufactures to improve upon the modern assault rifle. The SCAR 11 is the standard issue Assault Rifle of the European Union Army due to its robust firepower and performance. " :) but usa is frozen....

Firstly, in 2142 Sweden is completely overun by ice,
Secondly, as a member of the EU Sweden (and Switzerland if it's part of the Eu) would have been required to fight along the rest of the member states.

Where is like a full storyline lore type thing.
There is no official full story but the loading screens give you some of the lore. Very limited outside lore and most of the extra lore is either though the loading screens or is inferred
Apparently somewhere in 2145. The constant offense on EU positions in Africa has greatly exhausted the PAC, which gave EU an opportunity to counter-attack (Keep in mind EU has been on the run literally since the beginning of the war in 2139). Operation "Bridge at Remagen" in Northern Strike was the tipping point of the war. The first skirmish, where EU was on the offense.

@Madnessman True, EU is made up by forces from both the US and EU. But most of the voices are European dialects.
And PAC is made up from Russia, and various other Asian countries, with the main language being Russian.
@lihkan The only story that is provided for the 2142 universe are the interviews, teaser trailers, map descriptions in the game itself (minus Wake Island 2142 or Strike at Karkand 2142, I don't consider those maps to be a part of the story) and a few short descriptions on the website.
But, I am planning to make a 2142-style wikipedia to add more backstory. I am also working with a mod called "Northern Excursion" which plans to expand 2142 after Northern Strike (e.g. new American faction).
@TigerMeet2142 That doesn't necessarily mean that the USA is a part of the EU just because USA arms manufacturers worked with EU arms manufacturers. Oh, and not all of the USA is frozen, the ice sheet has (so far, judging from the teaser trailer) consumed two thirds of it (mainly the north and middle sections of the country). Canada is completely frozen though.

hey i have a problem that the game just exits itself when i play its just like the window dissapear and i see at the taskbar and its gone.... : / it dosnt happend much but its damn annoying in the middle of a good map.....
also, the question tht is nvr answered! how do u type in the time like CHblef did? That makes the time you added clickable?

@lihkan It's possible to live in non-habitable environments e.g. people live in northern parts of Canada when it's winter and scientists/explorers/whoever can live in Antarctica, both of these cold environments are uninhabitable without the right things (shelter, warm clothing and food), but that doesn't mean it's impossible to live there. I like the imagine that the parts consumed by the ice in 2142 are like Antarctica and the land just below the ice sheets are like Canada during the winter.

@lihkan I don't think you understand me, I'm not saying loads of people are living in the Antarctic conditions or even live near the ice sheet (because it's cold, lol), I'm saying that people would be able to live in areas that are like Russia or Canada during the winter which ARE habitable (which, in the 2142 story, are areas like southern USA or northern Mexico), but only if you have shelter (I'm not saying one of those massive Arctic stations, just any old building with heat), food etc.

However i am sorry that BF2142 is just MP game, i want some more backstory to that universe! And do you think that ice stoped spreading at 2142 or that more and more land is becoming covered by the ice? DICE developed quite cool scifi universe, it will be sin if there wont be any another game

Ok clarification: According to EA and PC Gamer Magazine the EU is made up of both Europe and USA. Fortunately we don't hear any American voices in the game.
