Bullets typically move significantly faster IRL than they do in the majority of video games. For example the rifle you’re using in video, which is the Barrett MRAD, chambered in .338 Lapua Mag IRL, pushes a 250gr round down range at an average muzzle velocity of 900 meters per second. What this means in a basic sense, is that shooting anything with the above round, delivered from the above gun, inside of the “extreme range” for most video games, which is roughly 300m, would appear to be shot almost instantly…or in other words, bullets in the mode you were playing, although fast, we’re actually still slower than they would have been in real life at the same range. In real life, bullets move very, very quickly, especially magnum sized rifle bullets like the .338 Lapua and other similar cartridges.
I've been bitching about this for years. The bullet velocity in Battlefield needs to be increased substantially. Along with this, firefights of 500+ meters should be more common. They sort of had this right in BF4 where you could range enemies and snipe at 1000m. Agreed. All they needed to do was focus on more realism. Higher velocity rounds, increased damage (hardcore as default), slower player movement, realistic graphics and environment, and no work/diversity BS. If they had done that this game would have had insane potential.
This is Jack video from the future if the next BF is like this, which I hope it is, with official hardcore mode servers. "This actually gave me some Battlefield vibes" is a tragic comment to hear from one of the biggest BF content creators, while playing a BF game.
The yardage at 6:23 read about 1300yds. The travel time for a 50 cal round at that distance is about 2 seconds depending on environmental factors so definitely not hit scan
.50 cals can vary from 2,600-4,000fps depending on the grain. That would be closer to 1-1.5 seconds to travel 1,300 yards. Video games drastically reduce projectile speed, typically to around half of what it should be, to create weapon balance
.338 lapua magnum is a faster, more ballistically efficient round than .50bmg. It has better terminal ballistics at ranges over a thousand yards than a fifty, as well. Because it's ballistic coefficient is so much better than the .50, it is also much more accurate over long ranges, due to much less bullet drop than the bigger, slower .50 cal round. It would reach the thousand yard mark a few tenths of a second before the .50 would.

Hey Jack thanks for all the amazing content over the years I don't really comment much but just wanted to take the time to tell you your content is awesome and I always look forward to seeing it. 👍
Lol that’s what I came to say. Sorry but COD took a big step back. BF 2042 started rocky but listened and made the necessary changes. I might be into what treyarch does but I might not even play that one either. Cod mobile is still pretty great lol
Oh wow I thought quite the opposite. My mind went to this video being a transaction when I heard the narration. I've been watching for years and appreciate the content. Although it would be disappointing, I would not be surprised and I'd understand if this video was motivated by anything other than a "passion" for BF games. Honestly, I think I'm enjoying BattleBit more than I have ever enjoyed a BF game. Though BF4, when it worked was great.
Bullet speeds are much faster than previous BF titles. Now, with a DXR-1 w/ hi power rounds and long barrel, you can have bullet speeds of up to 1,150 meters/second. The Rorsch Mk.IV has 3000 m/s projectile velocity. Although, for SMGs and ARs, bullet velocities are still close to the values of previous titles. But when a PKP in BF4 had 560 m/s muzzle velocity, the BP version of BF2042 has 850 m/s stock. The NTW-50 has a 600 m/s muzzle velocity stock, but the M98B of BF4 had 650 m/s, second behind the JNG-90 with 670 m/s. So yeah, depending on the weapon type, projectile velocities were or weren't increased.
Medics in Battlefield 1: *Charge through a field of fire, gas, explosions, and gunfire to revive you only to die 2 seconds after* Medics in Battlefield 2042: 0:48

Sooo I don’t play for a week on BF2042 and Jack is playing on my favorite server…. Im just going to binge the game now until we get on the same server one day😂
The M98b shot the .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge which would be going about 869 m/s (2,850 ft/s) in real life, I don't know the bullet speed in battlefield 2042 but in past games the velocity of rounds has been a lot slower than real life to make the game more fun, real life would almost be like hitscan anywhere inside of 300m
To answer your question jack, yes bullets do move that quick. I’ve shot 450 yards before and it’s pretty damn near Instant for when you hear the ting on the metal plate
The ballistics in this mode seems a bit faster than in real life. 300win mag ballistic chart with an average load out to 300m is .34s , out to 600m is .67s, out to 1000m is 1.38s. At 1000m it has dropped 272in Or about 22 feet depending on your zero Some of your 1200m snipes were arriving in around a half of a second
Here's the problem nothing in the game is to scale, at about 11mins in the rep tool is like half of the vehicles height. If there's no consistent scale we can measure anything.
This looks like so much fun and exactly what modern shooters should have been doing with the improvements to technical capacities of modern games: same core fun formula of objectives and vehicles resources on the battlefield with taking advantage of the larger distances and ways a battlefield map can play out. It is a shame these AAA companies have lost the spark of the original shooters through corporate bloat and probably losing most of the passionate developers who were responsible for the golden age of FPS.

Maybe this is a little more involved than most people want, but it's actually not super complicated.
Love to see you playing on this server Jack! It's been my go-to the past few days. Sniping is very fun on it. Side note: I can't stand when medics won't do their job and revive other players haha
Hey Jack thanks for all the amazing content over the years I don't really comment much but just wanted to take the time to tell you your content is awesome and I always look forward to seeing it. 👍
You could tell you were genuinely enjoying this ❤
Lol that’s what I came to say.
This game mode the only fun server I enjoy on bf2042. No bullshit specialists, with screeching female character noises. Just wish it wasn’t hardcore.
@@mostinho7 The females really do make it super immersion breaking. Smh.
@@vergaerdim playing on this server right now and boy let me tell you its the most fun ive had on a battlefield game since 3. No lie.
Buddy and me started playing this and my big takeaway - smoke is really good and you can use it more effectively than normal bf games
Portal and this server, or servers like these, are the only reason I still open bf 2042 from time to time
These BF videos are always so much fun! Great job Jack!
These are some of my favorite jackfrags videos! Loved it, thanks!
So yeah, depending on the weapon type, projectile velocities were or weren't increased.
yh, this is why anyone can pick up an lmg with zero spread and recoil like the advancy or lcmg or rpt and just beam u across the map
@@cherrypoptart2001 yep. As warfare is intended. No marshmallow guns.
For comparison to IRL: M855A1 being shot out of a standard M16 will reach 1038 meters per second. Which is basically the DXR-1's stock speed.
glorious pause, I paused the video at the exact moment you turned and saw the enemy truck coming at you. Nice dodge.
Medics in Battlefield 1: *Charge through a field of fire, gas, explosions, and gunfire to revive you only to die 2 seconds after*
Medics in Battlefield 2042: 0:48
This is amazing! If this was regular 2042 I'd be all over it.
Then just jump in this server everyday dude 😂
Nah this would be terrible, we want the BF3&4 experience back
@@ZachAsaD Blows my mind that BF4 still matchmakes as fast as 2042, sometimes even faster. It really is the last good modern Battlefield game
@ZachAsaD, you're blinded by nostalgia
@@hastyhawkeyei don't think its nostalgia i think 2042 just blows lmao
This took me back to the BF glory days, just seeing the Blackhawks and the A-10 alone.
Love hearing the genuine joy in your voice when you make videos like this 😂
3:24 Weapons expert here the base values in BF2042’s weapons are actually perfectly simulated to how they work in real life
(I know nothing about weapons)
LMAOO that flying body cracked me up
Been awhile since I have heard you this excited and happy during a game play video @jackfrags! LOVE IT!!!!
This portal server is dope. I've played it a ton. Jets and heli are so fun
They should remove enemy names and indicators on the HUD, would make it a lot more immersive
lol honestly you can turn off your hud in the settings and it will be just the same (unless their is no hud settings i dont play 2042, but this server makes me want to play it lol)
@@ultra9130doing that would put you at a disadvantage.
@@buda559TV more fun in my opinion lol
If you do that then you need a way to tell who is teammates vs enemies. A different colored uniform would probably be the way to go.
Absolutely love your vids man.
More of this Jack!!! This was super fun to watch!!!
Portals soldier chatter is so much better than 2042's, sounds like actual war is happening.
The best 2042 can offer. Portal is where it’s at.
Agreed. Base game stinks
@@dhruvster10 i dont think so, the game is so good now
@@bobbywiddattool6966game is so *mediocre* now
This game modes the only fun server I enjoy on bf2042. No bullshit specialists, with screeching female character noises. Just wish it wasn’t hardcore.
That is true, i play only portal hardcore servers, much better game play than default dice servers
I don’t understand gaming studios. See how big the support is for BF3/4 for example. Bring a next gen, combined new version of it. Most of the work was already done, seems like a easy cashgrab for a studio and we all get what we want!
8:09 was definitely a clip worthy of being part of a trailer for BF 2042
never thought i’d watch Piers Morgan playing video games. Cheers
Sooo I don’t play for a week on BF2042 and Jack is playing on my favorite server…. Im just going to binge the game now until we get on the same server one day😂
That’s exactly how I feel lmao
Can’t believe jack is only finding out about this. I play this exclusively on 2042. Jack please start a non hardcore server of this
I believe Jack plays on computer
This is the best video you’ve done in years Jack.
Crazy stuff.
This game modes the only fun server I enjoy on bf2042. No bullshit specialists, with screeching female character noises. Just wish it wasn’t hardcore.
one of the best videos you have ever put out. truly enjoyable.
450 yards is nothing lmao. Once you surpass the transonic range that thing is losing velocity fast.
The ballistics in this mode seems a bit faster than in real life. 300win mag ballistic chart with an average load out to 300m is .34s , out to 600m is .67s, out to 1000m is 1.38s. At 1000m it has dropped 272in Or about 22 feet depending on your zero
Some of your 1200m snipes were arriving in around a half of a second
Okay i am not gonna lie, this video looked sick from start to finish and loved the fun commentary. Honestly i wasnt expecting to have fun watching bf2042 since i have given up on the game and only watch videos every now and then from your channel....but damn man, that was fun !
You should redownload it. I started back up last season after dropping it shortly after launch and it's a whole new game.
Omg i love this server, gutted i wasnt on when u were
Def downloading BF again. This looks amazing! great video, as always Jack!
That was fun to watch, get a team gathered up and play that mode please 😊
Can’t believe jack is only finding out about this. I play this exclusively on 2042. Jack please start a non hardcore server of this
It's almost like it's what the BF community wants. Crazy
No it's not. I would absolutely HATE this. Incredibly, absurdly unbalanced. With snipers being this overpowered, I would straight up just never play it again. Y'all just keep proving y'all have no idea what you really want. It's just always 'not whatever the current game is'.
@@maynardburger no idea what we wan?? just because people have a different opinion on a game doesnt mean they have no idea what they want. The Afghan server is constantly active which is saying something and one of the most fun Ive had in a BF game in a long time.
@@maynardburger So what you wan't ? A battlefield with nerf guns ? Now battlefield is ridiculous you have to empty a rifle magazine for kill one guy . Did you know hardcore more or something like that ? Casual players ruin every games
@@kardaelMy man you can't blame on casuals they are the base of most games including Battlefield, blame on the devs who were unprepared to make a Battlefield game, you can always split into 2 gamemodes or more
good job to you man!every time you can bring back the vibe, coz when i try to come back i never seem to enjoy like you.
My god some of those kills were awesome! Well done. That was fun to watch.
I’ve been playing this war sim all the time lately it’s so much fun
Can’t believe jack is only finding out about this. I play this exclusively on 2042. Jack please start a non hardcore server of this
@@mostinho7 true it’s probably the funnest server out there I always have a blast on it I bet he’s playing on that server all the time now
Honestly its the movement speed that makes it more of a game rather than a simulation. A mod adjusting for natural movement would change everything
I always laugh my ass off when jack does voices lol. He’s surprisingly good at them
TRICKSY HOBITS 🤣🤣
Your genuine excitement during the game made me laugh , good for you, great vid
5:32 a typical 7.62x39 has a ~2400 feet per second muzzle velocity and 5.56 has ~3300 feet per second
Wow, what an awesome video! You pulled off some INSANE shots!! Well played Jack!
Ive always been played battlefield on console, but i recently tried battlefield 4 on pc. Completely different experience. Gotta say Iove mnk on battlefield. The game is also so much better in terms of graphics and smoothness. Hopefully console will get a next gen updated for battlefield 4!
I remember making the switch myself
Gotta love it
Next Gen Update ? not any time bro

Honestly don't find a lot of Tubers that I love to just sit and watch as they play a game. Miss that stuff, and glad you're one of em.
Makes my day seeing you cover this -- I've BEEN gaming the Afghan War Sim server. Just wait until you see what can be done with the rocket pods on the Attack Heli / A10
Hearing Jack this EXCITED IS EVERYTHING WE NEED TO WITNESS IN LIFE! I love this!
me accidently watching this right when it comes out. These mil sim servers have been around since the first patch i think. I remember playing them and enjoying it alot! Portal is underated and people need to mess around with it more. Or atleast thats just my opinion
i wonder if theirs gonna be some kinda renaissance with battlefield portal long after 2042 stops being popular. stuff like this makes me way more interested in playing the game.
That servers been up for a while. It's dope!
That server is still going strong.
I believe that BF2042 could be a SQUAD type (but more fast paced) MilSim game
if things keep on going this way - and it could honestly be great - if we can get communities
work on it that way - running private servers and all.
This server is gonna be flooded now lol
No way you got all those Choppers and a Jet. What the fuck... Jack you are a legend.
Yes he got down two A10 in the end but was not me LMAO he was focused take down me by RPG ahaha I'm a legend now
Haven't watched a video from you in a long time where you had so much fun making it. This is what battlefield is all about its a shame its lost its roots
Dude, Battlefield 2042 is absolutely incredible! The transition into a Mil-Sim has brought a realistic and thrilling gaming experience. I'm blown away!
Just shows that EVERYONE can make a better Battlefield than DICE these days. BattleBit Remastered, Squad, Insurgency, and mods fixing the failures of DICE.
Classic battlefield medic 🤣🤣😭
this is the BEST "version" mode of BF2042 ive ever seen.
The SMAW into the Humvee jumping over you was a pure only in BF moment, but then so were the SMAW helo kills! Epic stuff.
Battlefield just needs faster bullets in the base game
Snipers like the DXR and the SWS and DMRS like the SVK can easily get over 1000mps bullet velocity with long barrel and even less bullet drop with High powered mags . If bullets were faster it would be chaos.. its already hell with LMGs (advancy, rpt, lcmg) with zero spread and zero recoil just beaming u across the map
