Still think the games building mechanic was so epic. Destroyed buildings getting cover rebuilt, open spaces had trenches to dig, closing off entrances with wire, really added to the environment.

Was probably my favorite new mechanic in the game. It would be cool to see it more fleshed out in the next game. Something a little closer to Hell let Loose would be sweet.
build mechanics in fps are awfully gimmicky. especially when everything built can just be demolished by pressing w in a vehicle
@@SexyFace because it's not to supposed to stop a vehicle. It's for infantry. Cover and protection. A tank doesn't give a f*ck what's in front of it.
I think they should have made the new specialist have the ability to do this along side placing a deployable minigun.
I honestly loved BFV right from the start. I understand why everyone was mad with it in the early days, but even still, I always had a blast.

Gameplay was not a battlefield though. It felt clunky and "gummy" every time I played. Movement was my biggest issue with the game, which was such a bummer because this game was beautiful

While I have some sympathy for your sentiment, the only time it is truly permissible for a man to shed a tear is when his loyal hound sacrifices its life to save his master. A single tear is appropriate under such circumstances.

Said no one at the time. I agree, and still enjoy it but it got such hate for the ttk increase at Xmas, map design, not enough this not enough that. Shame on the community as this is now the best battlefield game since 2042 bombed.

I still prefer the WWII setting over modern/future. The atmosphere is amazing with 4-12 aircraft dogfighting in the air above or strafing you while you push objectives.

They really should just go back to working on BF1 and BFV, maybe port assets and mechanics between the two to expand the gameplay. What would really help is increased user content generation tools.

Let me just say that even as a sniper you push the objective and you go for revives. That's how games are won, Jack. Thank you for always playing the objective no matter what.
Facts. I generally don’t like snipers but people who actually push and defend objectives while sniping well are some of the best teammates to have
The Pacific maps are SO good for breakthrough mode, some of the best BF I’ve ever played has been on those maps

This game deserved so much more. I get the concerns of the game when it was revealed, but it ended up becoming one of my Favorite Battlefield games. Love the movement, and the fortification system should be a staple of the franchise going forward. It deserved more content than it received.
It has the best movement, at least for me.
The fact we going to get 4 more chapters, and they were hopefully going continue to fix the game ect is massively upsetting.

I do wish this game could've had some more time and given us more content but I'm happy with what we did get
Main issue IMO was the serious lack of content. It took way too long to get new maps and vehicles so it ended up getting stale very fast.
Every since 2042 came I’ve been asking myself one question…why is there no naval ships or maps with islands to hop around on? There was a map on battlefield 4 that had several islands and each island was a objective, loved that map
There was an entire DLC with naval focused maps in BF4 lol
Battlefield V, for all its flaws, was so detailed and done with so much heart. 2042 is just insipid in comparison.

Honestly - we've partly got ourselves as a community to blame. Everybody slated BFV so much they probably felt they needed to completely U-turn. Its a shame, but not much to be done about it now.
Simple, most of the staff had changed between the two games.
Bf5 to bf1 is like bf4 to bf3. And 2042 is like hardline. Something that shouldnt exist.
It still had the "battlefield feel" wich is infinitly better then what we have now

Oh I knew, at the time of release I even build a PC for this game. The atmosphere in BF1 and V is unmatched to this day.
Bf5 got breakthrough so good.
It legit gave a WW2 multiplayer storyline.
Bf2042 could take a few notes from this game to how to make good breakthrough maps

This game wasn't underrated. This game had a horrific launch and it took Dice forever to get it together. Par for the course apparently.
This happens every time a new BF, CoD, etc is released. The same people that were hating on it just a few months ago are now claiming it to be absolutely amazing. Make up your mind.

I honestly had so much of a “oh my god this is world war 2” feeling from BF5 and the total immersion this game and the pacific expansion gave is an experience I don’t think I’ve had with many games

But the general feeling of being under heavy fire and the screams, the tanks, the explosions, everything blended in together so well and you really felt like your life was on the line almost every second. You don't get that with any "new" game.

Jack for real I don't know how you do this but after every video you make love the game you're playing and this BFV is just one of the best
I've literally been the number one BFV fanboy since the beta.
I honestly think the beta might have been one of my favorite times in the game. It had a great ttk. I personally loved the animations (I know it's not the best in a fast paced fps game), had the best sounds, I loved the visibility. Made you think twice in pushing an area. Make you take flanks. The destruction was one of the best. Map design was better the Bf1 (though BF1 had better immersion)
BFV is still my 2nd favorite BF game after BF3
It was iust the cool thing to do at the time of launch was to hate on this game and now they all love it imagine that still lacks content but best gunplay in the series

If people were just providing casual critics instead of boycotting the game, I bet 2042 would have been far better.

I agree, I thought BFV was way better than the backlash it got. There are def some things that could be better, but overall it's just a super fun fps. But I'm also a really big ww2 game fan so I may be biased.
Kinda wish they stayed with 5. There was alot more left to do. And BFII aswell. It finally got in a good place on the right track and then stopped. So much potential.

It's not underrated, it was a mediocre game by standards of every BF game that came before it. Now with 2042 we have recency bias that this was some hidden gem of a game

I remember one game where i and other guy were in apc, he was driver and i operated turret, we were doing rampage almost whole round it was super fun, after that we thanked each other and said goodbye. One of the better experiences in BF
Rounds like this is why I have been playing BF games since 2013. I wish DICE can go back to this and learn from BF2042.

I have a lot of hours in bfv and still play it almost weekly. I really like how the gunplay feels.
Nobody is going to deny the whole mess this game started with. But nobody is going to deny either how good the game came to be with the Pacific update.

They released 5.2 to sabotage BF5 and make BF2042 seem better. They failed.
BF5 is so good now there’s hella players and servers up on console and I was actually surprised
@@JaytasticalTV Servers have been hoppin' on PC for a few years still. Problem is they're plagued with cheaters. I wish BF5 had more love from private servers, at least in the US.

Try as I might, I just can't get on with Bf 2042.
I can actually have fun on BfV on great maps with great movement and gunplay.
I can honestly say there's nothing about Bf2042 that I like.
Literally nothing.
I know BfV was derided in the beginning, mainly because of the brilliance of Bf1 but, at the end it turned into a fantastic game.
The Pacific maps and Provence were especially great.
It could have been even better with the iconic locations added instead of the support being ended for the car crash that is Bf2042

BFV after they added the pacific really turned into an epic stunning game! such a tragedy that they didn't launch with all the content.
I've been playing the BF series since BF2 consistently and I struggle to engage with 2042, BFV though has really got it's hooks in me currently. Something about the way it feels just makes sense, the sounds, the graphics, the gunplay, it all works so well and feels like battlefield to me. I really enjoy jacks coverage of it and that he agrees that it's one of the better battlefields.
Love sniping in this game. One of the first videos I'd seen from you was explaining how to sniper and wait for the right time to shoot. I still have a lot to learn but now I'm actually able to get those headshots on moving targets.

BF5 had such crisp visual and even the textures they used made the game feel so authentic, then you get 2042 where the buildings feel like cut and paste from bf3 and are very plastic-ish in texture. even the audio i still feel like bf5 was by far the best.

Yeah this game is really high quality compared to 2042. If I'm not mistaken this was built on top of BF1 which is one of the best BF games released.
played bfv on ps5 a couple of days ago and i thought the visuals were quite terrible. of course on pc this probably doesn‘t hold up, but on console the poor draw distance and popping up objects and textures were all over the place… i still prefer bf1

@@j.jonahgameson7992 played on my ps5 still looks better than 2042 on ps5 obviously 2042 has better resolution draw and texture but the art detail and animation really flops compared to bfv why it looks bfv looks better.

I recently got back into BF5 with my friend and we’ve been having a great time.
Love the BF5 content, but the BF1 ones is so much better, especially in extra wide so immersive, both BF5 and BF1 looks like they released after 2042. But the Pacific maps, what a beauty, prob some of the most beautiful maps ever made on a BF game

I love BF1 but for scale and overall BF feel i give it to BF5. Nothing is as immersive as BF1 though.

Unfortunately not even half of the player BFV has over a week. BF1 is very good but the player number are significant lower then the player numbers on BFV

You should try playing it on Hardcore mode. Double damage, no minimap, and friendly fire on. Gotta be careful where you put those V-1 rockets on HC mode

I know this is a really unpopular opinion, but I think battlefield 5 had some of my favorite gameplay in the entire series.
Edit: my only real issue with it was some of the customization options as far as the premium characters went. It's pretty immersion breaking when you suddenly see a member of the French Resistance fighting in the Pacific.

If all the battlefield youtubers didn’t have a whinge about the game when it first came out, maybe we would of gotten a better sequel to 5 or it could of became a fully fledged WW2 experience. If they all didn’t jump ship to warzone maybe dice wouldn’t of became disillusioned with their ip. It’s just frustrating because there are so many videos saying ‘ohhhh it was so good bla bla’ but they absolutely tore it to shreds when it came out. Bfv had and still does have great gameplay, it just has box cosmetics. Don’t complain about the problem you made

My favourite BF. Spent hours with my mates until the early hours in the morning around Christmas 2017 and the months after. The devastation map was brilliant, that blown up library was nuts.

I've got 1200 hours on BFV and it's an absolutely great game, and holds up well today. A shame DICE abandoned this for 2042, which feels very hollow in comparison to BFV. Luckily the player base in BFV is still active (a few full servers in AUS at least).
