i will never forget the moment when i destroyed my first enemy titan with detonating bunch of demopacks i stick to the core. running back and jumping off a titan about the blow up while shooting enemy left overs who want to get a easy kill by ambushing us while we are running like hell. that was epic times indeed. they don't make games like back in the day anymore.

No such game exist with a perfect balance. Dont get me wrong, I played thousand + hours in this game as a kid as it was the first Battlefield that worked online for me. Titan mode is still the best mode I have experienced in a Battlefield game. But this game had LOTS OF PROBLEMS just google the patch notes for Bf2142 and you start to see it was full of bugs, glitches and exploits.
Can you hear the despair? The meaningless purpose to fight over control of a dying planet. Even when facing extinction, humankind cannot join together as one but keep on fighting each other.
When I listen to this, I'm happy, sad and want to cry... This game had so many memories when I played this, even I played Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam and Battlefield 2 before, this one was the best. I want to play it, I tried but seems they shut it down... And even Battlefield 2142 had a city where I live, I was so happy when I saw it in the game.
Personally 2142 was the best among the series. It completely solved the ridiculously unbalnced aircraft in BF2 and enhanced the commander/squad features with new TItan mode which a really good example of mixture between small scaled and vast scaled battle at once. Then BF went down since BFBC2. BFBC2 has a great positive review but I dont think so. BC2 gives a pity excuse for BF acting like COD.
So I'm playing now Battlefield 2142 thanks to Revive project. Just google "battlefield 2 Battlelog" or simply "Battlefield Revive" or something like that.

if you paid attention enough to this game, you will realise EA actually tried to creat a storyline, from the trailer of how reasorces was depleted on the earth followed by the ice age, to every map's intro while loading, what I loved about this game is unlike other shooting game, it gives me a general feeling about war rather than just action, its more like an artwork.
I remember living in a one bedroom apartment in the first years of living on my own and I this game released during that time. I didn't own much so my apartment was pretty bare, which meant the stereo system I hooked my computer up to had this insane concert hall reverb kinda thing going on. I'd purposely let this music play pretty damn loud so I could hear it from just about everywhere I was in that apartment, and it was such a cool feeling. EA was on a whole other level during this time; I wish it never ended.
I remember this song blasting through my headset while waiting for matchmaking. Giving me goosebumbs all over and letting me think about the whole situation while humanity is preping all resources to survive on this postapocalyptic earth

BF 2142 was the last game of this series. After that it died. Every BF game after that was not even an offshoot. It's just not Battlefield anymore. Anyone who played BF2142, BF2 and the earlier titles can be proud that they have been part of gaming history. That time is sadly over. Nothing is left except crap games. There might be some exceptions, but overall the golden time of PC gaming is over. What brought us there? It's mainstream adoption of computers, and rampant greed. I salut you guys, we fought the same battles, but at the end we lost.

What I like about the music in this game is that it's meant to make you feel the emotion of the game. This game is about a war between nations for the last warm land against the ice age. It's basically like WW2 in the winter in the ash of European buildings. Many people dying from both weather and by each other. Kind of depressing but that's what I love about it.

I see little hope for humanity following the events of this game. Very dark mood, very dark maps, very dismal music. Thank you for uploading this for us all to remember.
I think the menu theme fits more these days now that the game is dying out. It sounds like a theme fitting at the near end of the war when the very few soldiers left have their last battle. There's just something about this theme that makes the game feel abandoned.
Just fired up my old P2V Windows XP VM, Battlefield 2142 Icon on the desktop, EA (GameSpy) Master server is dead.. Stayed at menu offline mode for the whole theme as tears of nostalgia went down my cheeks.. Then destroyed some bots in a singleplayer playlist.
Yeah, thanks, I know there are couple of unofficial master servers running around.. Frankly it didn't run that well on the VM, 60fps but with sick stutters.. Also GameTracker still tracks some server under BF2 game, then BF2142 as part of the server name
