After you get in, shaders have to load, which took quite time on PCs back then, then loading was done, you join battle, server or punkbuster kicked you out for some stupid reason, then loading again with this music. :) Still miss it through. And still much better than current battleshit browser.
In BF4 on the new Gulf of Oman 2014 map in Second Assault, if you go to the Hotel point, the music in the elevators plays part of this theme...pretty cool.

I agree with you to some extent, but... Same game? Seriously? SERIOUSLY? COD and BF are completely different. Pretty much all the things they have in common is what they have with any other military FPS.
The Wonderful and Mythical World of Salmacis That's true, they're different games, but they both are competing to offer the best online warfare experience. While CoD limited itself to tiny maps, CS style, and fast frags, BF was only more interesting for large scale battles, and vehicles. In CoD, you can be a real good shooter, and carry your team all the time, constantly. In BF there's more objectives, more possibilities due to vehicle control and respawn spots, and lots of other things. It's just that 1 game focused on shooting, and another went literally for the bigger picture.
Call of duty was a blip in the radar, it only got huge by cod4:cod harder, by that time battlefield was already on the way back from the frozen future of 2142 and staying again in the modern era with bad company.
What gets me even all these years later is that it's not just a sick riff, it's literally the Battlefield theme song. They've cleverly disguised it in the traditional instruments and electronic mix, but it has it's own upbeat version of the distinct trumpet melody that we've known since 1942 at 0:56 and 02:31
Back in Q3 2006: I just saved money again and upgraded my first PC (Pentium 4 HT 650, 1GB DDR1, GeForce 6500; on which Battlefield 2 ran like shit) with a Core 2 Duo E6600 (+ AC Freezer 7 Pro), 2GB DDR2-800 and a XFX 7900 GT. When school was over, I couldn't wait to head back home and to either start some gathers via ESL (4on4 Inf only, League rules on the small map) or to play a massive nade-party on the big 64 players 24/7 S@K servers. Didn't matter what, it always made so much fun, it was addictive as hell and I never met so many nice people playing any other FPS online. I'm still in contact with some of my old mates and a player I've met in the ESL in 2007 became one of my best friends. Today I'm playing Destiny 2, Valorant, CS:GO, Escape from Tarkov, Warzone etc. - but in my mind Battlefield 2 will always be remembered as the best online-shooter ever!

There was nothing this game did wrong. I cant tell how addicted to this game. It was not possible to get tired of it, everytime it is new experience despite playing it for countless time. What kind of magic was it? It is a mysterious. Im 100% confident that if even the game is allowed to run on fan servers then even today, 15 years later there will still be people playing it.
I spent 3 years becoming the best troop helicopter pilot and engineer I could the pride I felt getting our boys in and out under fire was something no other game could match. I did it so diligently that two other guys joined my squad a medic on the guns and another engineer. Omg when you meteor with a full bird into a hot LZ with bullets cracking and hitting all around but your medic is laying down death and engineer is healing as you go....then you exfil just as aggressive as you came in and make it...man...
MYPD SHP BF3 Sharqi Penisula has a similar Easter Egg, there is a market, if you go to a door under a catwalk thing, you will hear this song, and the GoO easter egg is present in BF3 aswell.
BF2 was one of the best BF i've ever played. When teamworks still has a lot of meaning in BF, compared to nowadays series which more and more cater for lone-wolf-CoD-type-players. What a bunch of nostalgia, when your commander could provide you with FAV/supply drops, or sent UAV drone to ensure no hidden snipers/enemy soldiers lurking in the bushes around the capture base. Don't forget that Jihad-Jeep, where i could stick some c4 & drove it to enemy's tank & push the trigger as soon my commando exited the jeep. Or i could play as engineer, driving a tank/IFV and gave other team's vehicle an automatic repair aas long as i stand close to them.

BF2 was one of the best BF i've ever played. When teamworks still has a lot of meaning in BF, compared to nowadays series which more and more cater for lone-wolf-CoD-type-players.
What a bunch of nostalgia, when your commander could provide you with FAV/supply drops, or sent UAV drone to ensure no hidden snipers/enemy soldiers lurking in the bushes around the capture base. Don't forget that Jihad-Jeep, where i could stick some c4 & drove it to enemy's tank & push the trigger as soon my commando exited the jeep. Or i could play as engineer, driving a tank/IFV and gave other team's vehicle an automatic repair aas long as i stand close to them.
Haven't played for years yet this theme is still fresh in my memory.
