It’s just that awesome intro, then the “welcome to duty” and then BOOM this legendary background music and casual battlefield in the background. This was when EA and Dice hit their peak in games.
I remember when my mom bought me the game because she had to travel to a different country to not be sad that she has to leave and I was at home alone with my dad and played that game for so many hours a day. Damn that is already so many years ago, I/we were so much younger back then with no thoughts about tomorrow. I wish I could relive that moment again.

Only people who experience this masterpiece could live to tell the tale. Nothing EA made after this came close to this finesse war game. I was there when they shut it down and i remember fairly well hitting blue pearl infantry only everyday until that faithful day. I bought Bad Company 2 afterward. It was decent. But then i just couldn't buy any others. Run and gun was far from what i wanted for BF. Cheaters wasn't a nightmare like it is today too. You could actually have fun even if you weren't a mad skills master. Now it just so ridiculous how fast pace it is. Might say a lot about us people. Our brain is harder and harder to captivate... Really sad to see.
I still play with bots. They told mw to download project reality and i did but it nothing like bf2. It's main goal was realism and i did not want that.
Same, I remember when the 1.5 patch made BF a much better game than it was in the past. The two expansions I didn't own were now available and spread on almost every server. It was almost an enlightenment period, but too little too late. BF2 will always hold a special place in my heart. It truly was the EA response to modern warfare and it's unfortunate a lot of other people didn't experience it and the mods for it.

I was too young to remember 9/11 but growing up while Iraq was all over the news I distinctly remember thinking the MEC in this game actually was Iraq, and of course living in a NATO country I tried very hard to be on the US side in every game I played. Good times

You can hear the massive attack trip-hop influence on this, the bassline from Dissolved Girl especially. Damn, couple of tracks in this game are far better than you'd expect from a modern military multiplayer fps, that goes for the MEC and China themes as well. Very nostalgic, excellent. Shame for the rest of the series.
Battlefield 2 has highest metacritic score in Battlefield series so it is still best Battlefield game ever. Also, people still play online with BF2Hub. (~300 online players in serverbrowser)
BF2 is a perfect example of how gorgeous a game's graphics doesn't make it more perfect. BF2 has already become a relic, but it was more fun than any other recent Battlefield series. I miss this game so much.

I just finished my homework and my mom allowed me to play for an hour, it was the best memories ever tbh since my crappy pc cant play Battlefield Play4Free, Bf2 demo is my only go to
BF2, BF2142 and bad company 2 were the last true battlefield games. Everything since has been arcadey COD-clones that completely fail to capture that super engrossing tug-of-war between frontlines that shifted back and forth. Now you can just load up battlefield, spawn just about anywhere with the braindead squad system and pretend you're playing call of duty. There's no strategy, no opportunity to cordinate a game-changing sneak attack with your squad, no real sense of teamwork. I'll never forget battlefield at its absolute prime.
Eventhough i was waaay too young when this came out, i'm really happy having experienced the bf2 multiplayer n it's golden days...when everybody was hyped about BF3 i was having a blast on Gulf of Oman capturing and calling arty strikes😂
