@@NickySRTthe thing is, I don’t really want the finals or arc raiders, I want battlefield. A bf1 experience but in a different theme for me. And not bf5, I have that game but I don’t really like.
BF1 was the last solid launch they had, since then it’s been shit release after shit release with the game losing its identity and taking away features that defined battlefield.
BF3 is far too legendary. Most fun, replayable, rewarding shooter ever. The DLCs were all awesome too. Playing Close Quarters was actually insane. Best time ever.
I think it's impressive that BF4, BF1, and BF5 still have active communities and servers. BF4 is 10 years old and I can still load up the game and find packed 64 player servers to play on. Heck, BF1 and BF5 are still rocking 10k+ daily concurrent users.
Battlefield games are the only video games I play. It has evrything I need.. I love BFV, simple weapons is more fun for me. Although putting C4 on jeep in BF4 is a good time.
EA announced that on Nov 1, 2024 all multiplayer servers for BF3, Bf4, and Hardline will be discontinued/going offline on all consoles. Starting Nov 1, the 2 best battlefields and Hardline will be a campaign/single player only game.
@@tek3920 Just 1 google search shows that this isn't entirely correct, all servers will be shut down for Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 7th for Battlefield 3, 4 and Hardline. However Xbone and PS4 servers for BF4 and Hardline will stay online. For now anyway.
We truely grew up in the greatest era of gaming. Im glad I was around to see it all burn to shit with microtransactions and battle passes. We'll never know another AAA Renaissance like the mid 2000s. Everyone should give a fat bow to capitalism for not only building the beast, but allowing it to devour an amazing industry.
I remember when elitists were saying BF3 and BF:BC2 were not true BF and that the gameplay was casualised to appeal console players. Now 10+ years later everyone agree they were masterpieces.
BC 2 was unbelievably good. Extremely underrated compared to its follow-ups, which makes sense, given how wildly good they were. BF 3 will forever be my favorite, but BC 2 was just so, so solid.
@@ousou78 BF2 elitists are a minority now because BF3 was so popular that it has many more legions of fans. To be fair, BF2 was wider in scope and did combined-arms better at the cost of shitty gunplay, it was just a different style of game. The people who would have liked BF2 back then are probably the people who play Squad today
BF1 atmosphere was crazy! I love it and still play it from time to time BF4 is besides the awful launch a great game and got better over the years. Now it´s one of the best games ever. I loved the customization options.
BF4 was amazing. I don't understand the BF1 hype though. Sure it looked good, but the gameplay was horrendous. One of the worst BF games in my opinion.
@@grinsk3kslol what bf1 had some of the cleanest gameplay of all the games. The hit reg was so good, almost rivalling cod in that aspect for the first time. Even bfv was really good in that aspect. bf2042 was the first time the gameplay felt like a free to play title made by indie Devs. It seriously felt worse than bad company 2, probably more like combat arms if you've ever played that horrendous game. In fact it might have been even worse.
@@mramaretto114 That's what I hated most about the games that came after. Battlefields Gun play became a "hardcore" COD. The squad play as well was just perfect. Classes and actual team goals. BF2 rewarded team play
Battlefield Heroes as F is a war crime. How old is guy who made this tier list? 9? I know this is not "hard battlefield gameplay" like other BFs but come on. This game was hell of fun.
Same for me. BC2 rush mode was perfection, linear asymmetric maps where the game designers decided balance wasn't always needed were hard to play, and clutch wins from behind were epic and so satisfying. No other BF game has come close to the intensity BC2 managed to consistently create.
Battlefield 3, the amazing memories I have playing that game with friends will live with me till the day I die. Truly a very special game. I'll never forgive EA for what they have done to this once great franchise
The funny thing is, When BF3 came out the entire internet thought IT was ruining the franchise. And the theme repeats every time a new BF game is launched.
Oh man I remember jumping off on Damavand Peak for the first time with my son he was 7 then. We were both yelling as we leaped off the ledge into the air lol Freefalling and watching all the other players around us zooming downward, to the final battle, how cool was that !!?? Realizing today everything great about that game from beginning to end unlike where the franchise wound up unfortunately. We had such a blast playing BF3 together epic memories for sure. CLASSIC !!
@@SMB291 oh for sure 2042 is still kind of a mess even after "fixing" it. All they did was stitch it up to stop the bleeding. BF3 is one of my top 5 games EVER to be clear and in ways i liked BC2 just as much, but it was rush only (ish) so it loses a few points in comparison. Both those games were just torn to pieces on Reddit when they were current titles though..its just funny how perception flipped alot over the years.
Still my favourite as well mate, was a brilliant game and it didn’t bother me with the gunplay issues he talked about. It was WW1 and those weapons wouldn’t have been anything great to use. Loved BF3 as well
I’m thinking about getting bf1 soon but I’m not really sure about it just because if I do get it I’ll only be able to play it for like 2 years and then I’m off to the military for real so I’m just not really sure
BFV at B tier is criminal. BF1 had better maps, but the gunplay, squad revive, and pinging system for BFV put it above BF1. And the maps are great in BFV, just not qiite as good as BF1.
I'd say S tier. One of the coolest campaigns along with amazing destruction and a good multiplayer. Yeah really the only BF game that outclasses it is BF 3
I randomly bought bf1 for 5$ on steam sale a few months ago. First battlefield game I've ever played. I've put 200 hours into it since. One of the most fun fps experiences I've ever had. Insanely good atmosphere, really makes you feel like you're in a battle.
It's just a shame how bfv couldn't follow in bf1s footsteps. I could never get into bf1 cause thinking about ww1 you think about trenches not people running and gunning. That type of game mode in design works a lot better with the ww2 setting in bfv. It's a shame they had to add a bunch of nonsense stuff that made the ww2 setting look like a steam punk alternative timelines ww2 which is probably part of the reason it flopped in the beginning. No one knew what it was supposed to be
@@charon_lix BFV might not be doing what BF1 did best, but they sure did fix everything that BF1 suffered from. Camping tanks, 3D spot spamming, LMG running and gunning, smg18/08, sweet spot, flare gun spam, tight choke points, behemoths (my god that added nothing to the game besides spectacles to look at), medic problem, assault being a grenade bot, etc. atmostphere wise, BF1 beats BFV by a long shot, but gameplay wise it's not even close to be honest. I have put 500 hours into BF1, last played August but after I gave BFV another go I completely unable to go back to BF1, I'm sorry but BF1 is just broken
when you put 1943 on skipped, (literally still watching the video) it ripped a piece of my soul out. My jaw dropped, eyes widened and i let out a gasp..... I know you didn't play it but MANNN i made so many accounts just to continuously play that demo on the ps3.
I dont get why they haven't made a BC3 yet, its a fan favourite series and easy money in their eyes. Plus its a nice change up to all the past/future era games they've been making the last several years
4 is by far my favourite, my ideal next game would be similar to 3 and 4, with a return to the emphasis on general destruction, instead of the more scripted events and 2042's almost complete lack of destruction. I'd also reintroduce taking ammo from teammates, maybe have to hold the button for a second instead of just instantly taking it, and bring back the ability to carry vehicles with helicopters, imagine how funny it would be to have two cargo helicopters dogfighting with the tanks/IFV's they're carrying.
4 never had the magic 3 had, aesthetics felt derivative, worse map flow, worse vehicle balance, and each weapon lacked it's unique character and feel it had in 3.
i have no idea how someone who said they played since the original 1942 could give BF2 any less than an S tier. im 33 years old, still gaming today and no shooter even comes close to how much i enjoyed that game, i still talk to some of the people i played that game with (some gave up gaming completely , some still play games) and they all agree BF2 was peak! gaming
@@James_Philip915 After BF2 (and COD4 as a filler till BF3) BC2 was ok (rush, infantry) but just a canapé to something much much bigger we couldn't await. We abandoned BC2 competely after BF3 launch. Funny I went back to BF3 with every new title since. Got 4600h of playtime now...
*Ever* made? Mate we have 30 years of multiplayer shooters, from progenitors like Quake and Unreal Tournament to classics that are still played today like CSGO, industry defining titles like TF2 and PUBG... Battlefield 3 is a great game, but to say it's the best ever made is just straight up wrong. I honestly think it's impossible to even judge what the best multiplayer FPS game ever made is because it's such an enormous field.
It was very appropriately priced too, like $15 I think? Lots of fun, and I especially loved the airplane combat and Air Superiority, even years after I would load up 1943 just to dogfight planes until I couldn't anymore
I agree, I ended up placing 29th on the xbox leader board I played it that much 🤣 The launch was garbage though and lead to me and my friends naming our BFBC2 team "Please Stand By" as that was the screen you'd see all the time when the servers weren't connecting.
BFV's gameplay and mechanics are so well-designed it's actually not fair compairing to other titles. BFV fixes everything that is wrong with BF1. For starters, they removed the 3D ping system, my god was that toxic as hell you cant go anywhere without being spotted. Assault now has actual and diversed weapon, being a viable class. Medic is crazy OP after they give them the SMG treatment, allowing them to revive allies without the syringe and the animation is just chef's kiss; the balancing and QoL medic changes are extremely well done, not to mention their smoke grenades are finally useful now. The support class is also fixed by letting them ADS only when prone/bipods are deployed, as much as I love BF1 but I can't stand the sweats running and gunning with a LMG 250 ammo cap like it's an smg, great move from the Devs, also the crate and pouch mechanics are good now, they make total sense. I can't believe it but DICE absolutely fixed the sniper class by removing the sweet spot and you can only 3d spot with binoculars, they also added beacons and reworked the flare guns it's incredible how balanced it is, and the snipers actually feel different for once. There are other changes too with vehicles, squads and building mechanics but overall I think BFV deserve at least an A, for all their effort put into balancing the game and making the game actually fun to play. It was such a shame that they put so little content out for BFV, BFV really deserved better
It had solid foundation and in retrospect looks like a great game considering what we have in 2024 now. But the terrible AI and optimisation just killed it, and the terrible choice of maps at launch. Also the whole issue with the TTK..
Only came to make sure BF 1 was ranked highly. Truly a masterpiece of a game imo. From the trenches of Argonne Forest to the cliffs of Sinai Dessert, this game was a surreal experience at times.
Yeah, and that falls apart if you remember that the vehicles have self repair and even 1 person can't destroy 1 tank. That game is sniper heaven, and DMRs are absolute garbage and the least used weapons in that game. That game also has the worst vehicle spawn system in the franchise that still infects modern Battlefields like V and 2042.
No way. Spread, bugs, suppression, mortars, grenade spam, planes, the worthless behemoths, months of broken net ode making the game unplayable. Shit class balancing, looking at medics at the end of its life. No fucking way.
It'll always be BC2 for me. I love the almost complete destructability, and I also love the idea of having fewer vehicles on the map but making them scarier. I'll never forget playing Port Valdez and being terrified of seeing an attack helicopter appear around a building.
😢 it was my favorite Battlefield. More than 600+ hours I spent in the multiplayer. It wasn't overloaded with gimmicks and weapons. Play up to lvl 20 and you do have almost the same equipment as an lvl 50 player. At that point only skill counts. I always hoped for BC 3. But even the developers couldn't pin point, why it is such an amazing game. 😢
BC2’s “limited” kit was why the game was so good. Limiting options keeps roles defined and the cheese to a minimum. Except Medic Cheese. And I liked the inability to go prone. Fite me.
Bf3 was literally just a bad version of BC2 with even worse maps. BF3 legit played like a mix of Call of Duty and Team Fortress 2, it was significantly worse than BC2.
I built my first pc just because of bf3. Bf3 is definitely the best game of all time for me. All of the maps (including the dlc) are awesome and memorable
Same dude, great times even though I was ps3 at the time max rank. I wanted to experience the better graphics and the bigger versions of the maps. Moved to PC max. Effing nuts. Awesome memories from BF3.
Had they continued support for BFV it would have had potential to become their best title. The graphics, audio, movement and gunplay of that game is simply unrivaled.
@hooniganruiz5613 bf1 went the politically correct route as well. if the russian sniper women was a pick up in the field then that would have been somewhat acceptable. but 1/8 combatants being a woman sniper in a ww1 game is still immersion breaking when the ratio of men to women in ww1 was like 5 million to 1 lmao
@@rileybobbert6527 the womens battalion of death and the women soldiers who shaved their heads to be mistaken for men. Bf1 did a good job in keeping the accuracy... idk how a kit all the sudden making you a woman makes any sense
BF2 easy S-Tier for me. The only ego shooter I truly ever enjoyed over a long period of time. Combat felt more tactical with meaningful squad play, player operated commanders and class roles to choose from, rather than the massive team-deathmatch feel of newer titles.
I feel like battlefield 4 after the fixes was the most fleshed out, best battlefield experience you could get. The shear content is just unrivaled and the quality was just amazing. Will never forget it. Was really hoping 2042 would scratch that itch and be able to put another thousand hours into but we all know how that turned out...
So glad to see Battlefield 1 get so much love. It truly is a work of art. Never had I played a game and within the same match feel childlike awe, terror, and triumph in a multi-player shooter. Timeless classic in my opinion that will live beyond it's franchise's namesake perhaps.
Just out of curiousity: Did you play any of the other Battlefield titles before? Dont get me wrong, compared to Bf2042 its great, but at its release most Battlefield Veterans were very disappointed of Bf1 because of the bad gunplay and explosions/poison/fire-spam all over the map. (Looks great but plays terrible most of the time.)
@@Watchxes I also think BF1 is the best battlefield. I started with 1942. And played almost all of them. BF2142 was very good as well. Also BF2 and BF3. Not to forget bad company 2.
I've played a lot of them except bad company 1 , bf and bf2. Honestly bf1 just has so much heart to it. It feels so immersive to play, operations is a chefs kiss with all the yelling and pushing/defending. Best of all I love emblem making and the companion app still works!
For BFV I took the “either accept it or don't buy the game" to heart. Haven’t been back since. I think those of us who left have fond memories of the series and would love to come back under the right circumstances.
marks hardline down purely because of its theme but doesn't even address the shit they pulled with robot arm cricket bat-wielding female soldiers in ww2-set bf5
I had so much fun playing Hardline and would still play it today if the servers were populated. If they slapped another title on it besides Battlefield it could've been a new franchise on its own.
BF2 remains my favorite Battlefield so far. I have played this game A LOT, it's hard to give an exact number because there was no centralised tracking for overall time played, but across my various ranked accounts and time tracked in xfire it has to be more than 2000 hours, probably even upwards of 2500 hours. Battlefield 2 also gave birth to Project Reality, which started as a BF2 total conversion mod and later went on to become a standalone game (as BF2 turned into abandonware). Project Reality is my favorite multiplayer shooter of all time without a doubt. it's incredible would the mod devs could do with the Refractor 2 engine, the game is also incredibly well balanced and was extremely addictive. Some of the Project Reality devs later split off to more or less recreate the game in a modern engine, you might be familiar with the result - it's Squad.
BF1 has the best atmosphere and attention to detail. It’s the only game that feels historically correct. It was way ahead of its time and I still play it today.
BFV after the updates became one of the most well playing battlefields, gun play was phenomenal, fortifications were a great counter to destruction, destruction was everywhere, and the vehicle gameplay was fun
yess, the core gunplay and fight / battle mechanics, movements, vehicles are the reason why i am still at BFV, it's too good! went back to BF1 and BF4 multiple times but the gunplay/netcode is not that good there... BFV still rocks!
I would agree but it still lacks a lot of flavour for a ww2 shooter. There is no late western front, eastern front and very few iconic guns as well as factions. Honestly what it offers is amazing but it doesn't offer much.
Dude yes. I remember starting a round in the Metro beta test, crawling through a train car, and just taking a moment to appreciate the sounds all around me. Bf3, and bc2 had the best sound design. The guns really felt loud and the echoes were very atmospheric
Battlefield Heroes is strongly underrated. So much fun back in the day, nice balance of vehicles and foot soldiers. Also the different classes were pretty ingenious and perfectly balanced. Maybe not a game for serious battlefield fans, but it was just so much fun all around. To this day the planes in Battlefield Heroes are the most intuitive to fly, I would take those over BF1 any day.
Dude I started playing yesterday and ur 100% right. Bf2 is so much fun I never played it before and I’m even younger than the game itself. Also awesome that ppl still play it
I agree with this list outside of the ranking of BF Vietnam... Vietnam was a huge step forward from the first title, IMO. It felt more refined, it had more variety, and the fact that a Huey could fly over head while blasting Fortunate Son just really brought that level of immersion and uniqueness that separated BF from other titles. I really wish they would bring this game back as a remaster or just incorporate it into the "Portal" feature in the next BF title. Just my opinion obviously, but it really holds a special place in my heart. At the VERY least it deserves B tier, but I personally would consider it A tier, but that could just be my nostalgia bumping it up a little bit.
@@airbomb34 you could say that about current bf titles too. Especially 2042. They were figuring things out at that point. It wasn’t insanely unbalanced in my recollection. I recall having some pretty close games when people PTFO.
I still think a Cold War Battlefield game could be really really really good. Imagine Battlefield 3 tone, but even darker and grittier, with US & USSR as the two opponents. That setting would have so much potential for a Battlefield games especially since it has never been done except for the Vietnam part of the Cold War.
I think your tier list is flawless, except for Bad Company 2, I truly believe it is an S tier game, the Vietnam expansion was insane as well. Simply put, I never, even in BF3 (probably the scope glint for me, irrealistic and annoying), which I love, got as much fun as playing Rush on BC2 on PC. It was, for all intents and purposes, flawless to me. The real moment Battlefield became broken in my mind, is when they started limiting ammo capacity to 3 mags. Game breaking, fun breaking, dumb decision.
BF BC2 was the first game I played online multi-player. I even met some cool friends by logging in for the first time. BF3 is also definitely an S tier game. I love both titles.
Hardline introduced weapons that were actually different with a huge number of new attachments. It was just bf4 but upgraded gunplay and features.....so why couldn't it just be a bf4 update.
I started with BF2 and it is definitely an S-tier to me. When the first videos of it came out, everyone was shocked by how good it looked. And it fully lived up to the hype. BF3 is also an S-tier to me even though it lacks some of the things BF2 had, like extra view toggles for vehicles, it greatly improved other areas, such as gun combat
Battlefield 1942 and 2 are my set in stone favorites. Nothing like 1942 had ever existed before, and I learned how to build a gaming computer specifically for Battlefield 2.
Hardline was cool, when you wanted to chill from pure military BF theme, it was fresh air like 2142. I dont think it was bad idea, it was "alternative CoD that was more interesting cause maps was less polluted with details and where having building destruction. Also they added some "missions" in matches. I think it was very good alternative idea.
BF1 is what I would like to call a perfect Battlefield game, aside from the random bullet deviation of course which will sometimes become an annoying issue. But everything else is just superb! The maps, details, graphics, the atmosphere, sound design are simply perfect.
Remove the absurdly game breaking crutches and you'd be correct. e.g. mega trains if you're losing. Also the hero kits were ridiculous if you weren't a mouth breather. Completely overpowered and not fun.
@@detectiveharris8772 It's still ridiculous how slowly tap firing a gun still ends up with an unpredictable random recoil pattern. It lowers the skill ceiling of the game. That and how a game set with WWI still heavily favors fast firing, automatic guns instead of bolt actions rifles that were what the vast majority of soldiers used during that era.
bf1 had a lot more wrong with it than level is letting on. vehicle balance was truly awful, behemoths and hero kits were infuriating to fight, and weapons were obviously a weak point in the franchise. one of the only battlefield games I never really revisited because I didn't like the gameplay.
I honestly hate the amount of flak BFH gets. Its an amazing game, gunplay is solid, graphics and maps are well thought out and are beautiful. I feel if it wasn't marketed as a battlefield game it would still be alive today
I think BF2 deserves S-tier. Sure it is not a as refined as Bf3 but the direction of the game was not only revolutionary to the BF series (as you said the commander and etc) but to a whole other genre of more hardcore big scale battle games, spurring first into Project Reality, which in turn would inspire games like Squad. The impact on the industry is off the charts and I think although considered an A tier that would be underrated.
Bf 2 must be the first and the inky S tier in the list. Not that the others don't deserve S tier but no game came close to Bf2 when we talk about how much a game can change the videogames panorama. Bf3 is supreme but has basically nothing more to offer really than the 2. It's just a refined version of the 2 without the commander (I still miss it today) and with the addition of the "unlock the next item" mindset.
BF2 and 3/4 along with BD2 are the most fun and pleasant FPS games on the market. Tho BD2 and BF4 had some questionable design choices that made the game progressively more annoying. BF1 is boring sorry
Battlefield 2 was my first dabble into the BF franchise, and boy was it a complete joy. Playing with friends online, meeting new friends, all of it was great!
I suspect a lot of these guys claim they were around when BF1942 dropped but they sure don't sound like it when they talk about it... no game hit harder than BF 1942... it's the best war game ever made period.
I'm really hopeful that, seeing Battlebit's success, DICE remakes BF2142 in a similar image. The setting was cool and the titan mode was so fun. Also the Commander aspect with orbital/emp strikes.
Everybody overlooks the mountains of flaws with Battlebit in a way that current Battlefield fans would never do for an actual Battlefield game. The whole fanbase is beyond toxic at this point. All the bitching about BF1 at the time(people forget it was NOT well loved by the fanbase) is a huge reason the franchise got so off course since. DICE had no idea what to do to please the fans. Turns out, they should have just ignored all of us and all the complaints and just stuck with their vision.
@@maynardburgerthey can at least look at what people like about their games and make sure we have that instead of hero abilities and bugs. It's just dumb when you've already created so many good games to lose track of what people want.
They gotta make a game thats called just Battlefield and incorporate all the good and none of the bad they have learned over the years. A good campaign is also required.
I find Heroes quite addicting even though it's old. It's fun to play once in a while but it's not the same experience compared to the early years. In my opinion, the game is somewhat underrated. It has its goofy charm and i'm fond of that.
yes, BF Heroes was ahead of its time. BF elitists, obviously, didn't like it, but I believe a similar game could've been huge nowadays. Personally, me and my friends really enjoyed it on release. Then microtransactions got worse and i dropped it.
BF1942 desert combat mod was truely epic. Playing on mouse and keyboard as a soldier then stitching to hotas joystick jumping into an apache helicopter was amazing. Tank battles in El Alamein were terrific. The golden days...
No kidding. Those mods for Eve of Destruction and Desert Combat and Forgotten Heroes mod literally paved the way for what the people wanted in the series and deserve more credit, plus those games were free, no DLC garbage!
@LevelCapGaming Let's be honest. 2042 is skip. No server browsers (not portal). No spectator mode. No platoons. Hit registration problems. Skill based manipulation. Join friends and instead being in queue you get into the enemy site, playing with friends in the trash. And many more bad stuff. Every good thing from previous titels they didn't put into the game. Not even from release. Wondering if Dice/EA have only stupid staff. Can't go to COD because that's boring af. Battlebit is Minecraft 2.0 Other BF titels are full of cheaters.
The Finals came out and it looks like its made by same devs, it has same 3 class system with fun abilities, movement, gun play but has more realistic battlefield touch to it
Indeed. The bones of BFBC2, BF3 and BF4 were laid out with this title! I played a ton of it on my PS3 back in the day, i even managed to get half of my group of friends aboard and our clan was born. Great memories! Par for the Course anyone?
I remember being a senior in high school and sitting in first period before class and reading a game magazine and they had a thing about Battlefield 1942 and it blew my mind. I didn't get into the franchise until The original Battlefield Vietnam that came after 1942 I think, but even just reading about Battlefield 1942 has become a lasting memory for me just because of how insane and next level it sounded. Battlefield changed the game for sure.
I was in my twenties and I probably read that same magazine. I remember reading how popular BF 1942 was and there was a new concept of "griefers", players who would intentionally mess with you during the game. I also didn't play BF1942 until 5 years later when I went to a game cafe and got bit by the BF2 bug.
@@montyburnz lol, that's awesome. could have been. This was back in like 2001 or 2002. I graduated in 2002. I didn't start playing the franchise until 2004 or so with the OG BF Vietnam.
Bad Company 2 was the best imo. The destruction elements were never fully copied in other entries. BF3 was the last to really have more destruction options, and I'd rather go back to BC2's destruction than spectacle tornadoes and levolution events. By the time the match was over the entire map looked way different, there was an organic PLAYER created "levolution."
BFV has the closest level of destruction to Bad Company 2 than any other entry. I remember when BF3 came out, and my friends and I were bummed about how the destruction was nerfed compared to Bad Company 2.
Having 2142 in the C teir is insulting to me....with Hardline..Jesus. In its time 2142 was really fun and new game/concept for an FPS Mechs, crazy gadgets and Titan mode were insanely fun and the conquest was incredible. I put just as many hours into it as I did BF2 and I still look back on it fondly like I do BF2, BF3 and to a lesser extent BC2. B+ teir for sure.
For me bf2 was the best game ever. It was brand new fresh then. In game voip making squad play a thing and it was revolutionary. I remember countess hours sitting in a black hawk with my clan. Jets required skill but were deadly once mastered. Strike at karkand and sharqui penensula were amazing maps.
Ziba Tower. There are still CQ servers online :) Just the players are missing. No idea where they are and what they play while praising BF3 to the moon...
2142 deserves a higher ranking IMO. I was very sceptical at first, thinking it would be filled with loads of 'omg lasers pew pew' noobs but it was actually very good. The infantry vs armour was pretty much perfect, I never saw a game dominated by a vehicle camper at the edge of the map.
I understand the criticism of the movement and actions like ADS being clunky compared to modern engines, but at its peak, 2142 was one of the best multiplayer experiences I've had. None has quite paralleled a 64p titan match for me. Whether it resulted from the game mechanics or the community, the team play functioned super well. I think the restricted ability to run n gun actually necessitated more strategy. Last, the setting didn't feel gimmicky and the class equipment was pretty cool. 2142 and Bad Company 2 are my S tier.
They did a good job making a future that didn't feel too completely out of whack. Most soldiers still using regular gunpowder weapons and rockets with just a few sci-fi touches like EMP grenades, grav/floaty tanks, and Mech walker tanks was spot-on for a believable future setting.
@@green285 ha, well I feel bad for them. Maybe that was an unprecedented move at the time, but if a few ATI billboards were a viable alternative to microtransactions or loads of payed DLC, I'd take the ads any day. I remember the great experiences I had playing, not the ads. Still, that's not to say I condone any of EA's bs though.
This is absolutely spot on! To this day, I still binge-play BF1 every couple of months. Nothing comes close to it. While I've lost my faith in the BF franchise after the last two releases, I really hope they take another crack at the WWII genre with a focus on realism as they did in BF1.
BF1 hardly had a focus on realism. Many of its weapons were more sort of WW2-era, the time to kill was increased(which is mainly what people thought was 'off' about the gunplay), and it had all kinds of somewhat arcade-y elements like the big Behemoths and people on horses running around cutting down infantry and whatnot. None of this is a criticism at all, I also think BF1 is the best Battlefield game ever made, but it wasn't because it was so 'realistic', it's because it was just super refined, beautiful+atmospheric, and for me - introduced one of the best new modes ever - Breakthrough(and Frontlines which was sadly abandoned by the franchise...).
@@maynardburger by realism I meant immersion. While I’m sure BF1 isn’t historically accurate to a T, it’s a lot more believable and gives you the aesthetic of a WWII game compared to BFVs that was basically a modern shooter with a half ass WWII re-skin
Yet he gave BF3 the highest rating, when that game was just a significantly worse version of Bad Company 2 with 80% less environmental destruction. This guy definitely never actually played any of the games before BF3.
I will never forget the first time I played BF3. Its story mode was actually really solid, probably one of the best. I was living in Long Island and my buddy was so addicted to this game he took couple rides on LIRR to NYC just to rewalk the BF3 story
That campaign was the best. How weird that they "tried to improve it" with 4's which was good but nowhere near as gritty and realistic. That was a hint for things to come because it was a deliberate response to "CoD has a better campaign". That only proved that gunplay, physics, game mechanics were always better on BF and in retrospect the campaign is more realistic and cinematic than any of the other CoD and BF titles before and since. I always said the BF3 campaign was NOT bad and that it was being underrated.
Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4, and Battlefield 1943 were and still are my favorite BF games of all time! 1943 was so special and the destruction with the tanks and planes was great! I wish it had gotten a PC port, but EA likes to kill good things.
You put Battlefield 3, where the maps were all designed for 16 players because the consoles were extremely limited in their capabilities, as the highest tier? It was their Call of Duty clone, and the worst game of the entire series. The original BF 1942 has more active players than BF3. The people who enjoyed BF3 are the ones who never played a BF game before. I don't believe you for one moment that you actually played the other games.
Hardline with a military set dressing would have been S tier. Just depends how many points you subtract for it being cops and robbers. For me personally I would call it A tier.
Almost fully agree, except for two that should switch places in my opinion, that is BF1 and Bad Company 2. Bad Company 2 was insanely good, and I'm talking about both the campaign here as well as the multiplayer. It was revolutionary at the time, almost like BF3 a couple years later, so S tier for sure. BF1 on the other hand wasn't (yes graphics were amazing, but a game hardly is defined only by graphics!). Moreover, I'd argue that BF1942 should be at least B Tier, so many memories :)) Cheers!
What most people say about BF3 is how I feel about BF2. Was at the time it was released in many ways what BF3 was to its particular time of release, except much earlier and a more hardcore experience. I love that game to bits.
Really sad to see the franchise going down so hard. The golden age between Bad Company and Bf1 will never be repeated.

You could find thousands of players for almost every PC title if DICE & EA would still support said games.

Now 10+ years later everyone agree they were masterpieces.
BC 2 was unbelievably good. Extremely underrated compared to its follow-ups, which makes sense, given how wildly good they were.
BF 3 will forever be my favorite, but BC 2 was just so, so solid.

The sound design in bf1 is still industry leading imo.
Bf5 is now 4 dollars on steam....
Yeah the atmosphere is just spot on.
BC2 is a A+ for me, only because BF3 and BF1 exists. Otherwise it wouldve been a S.
4 never had the magic 3 had, aesthetics felt derivative, worse map flow, worse vehicle balance, and each weapon lacked it's unique character and feel it had in 3.
i have no idea how someone who said they played since the original 1942 could give BF2 any less than an S tier. im 33 years old, still gaming today and no shooter even comes close to how much i enjoyed that game, i still talk to some of the people i played that game with (some gave up gaming completely , some still play games) and they all agree BF2 was peak! gaming

True words, even 9 months later.

It’s easily the most underrated game in the franchise.

I always hoped for BC 3. But even the developers couldn't pin point, why it is such an amazing game. 😢
BC2’s “limited” kit was why the game was so good. Limiting options keeps roles defined and the cheese to a minimum. Except Medic Cheese.

Bad maps and bad balance.
@@airbomb34 not at all, it was Vietnam, battles were very asymmetrical. BFVietnam did really well capturing the GI vs Charlie gameplay.
@@Shaggii_That sounds like a great idea. Maybe add submarines like behemoths in BF1.
You are smoking something crazy to put Bad Company 2 for B tier. It was the only perfect BF game.
I loved Hardline. It had the beast selection of weapons ever. Old school FAL and Modern FAL OSW for examples. KSG with Slugs....I miss the days
Hardline introduced weapons that were actually different with a huge number of new attachments. It was just bf4 but upgraded gunplay and features.....so why couldn't it just be a bf4 update.
I still play it on PS3 there's a few servers though.
BF3 was peak! The movement, gun feel, sound.. Just peak!
This. Bf2 graphically was way more shocking than bf3 when came out
@@MichaeloApC agree, remember 2005 demo
@@MichaeloApCexactly. I remember it as a kid, was craaaazy.
S Tier for the mods alone.
@@danielring8060all mods in BF2 to 4 are easily an S tier also.
Battlefield 1942 and 2 are my set in stone favorites. Nothing like 1942 had ever existed before, and I learned how to build a gaming computer specifically for Battlefield 2.
Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2 should both be S tier.
Its spread not random deviation.
It has a broken conquest mode and way too much explosive spam.
bf1 had a lot more wrong with it than level is letting on. vehicle balance was truly awful, behemoths and hero kits were infuriating to fight, and weapons were obviously a weak point in the franchise. one of the only battlefield games I never really revisited because I didn't like the gameplay.
I honestly hate the amount of flak BFH gets. Its an amazing game, gunplay is solid, graphics and maps are well thought out and are beautiful. I feel if it wasn't marketed as a battlefield game it would still be alive today
BF2 was my jam back in the day. Only BattleBit is showing me its magic again nowadays.
100% true. Besides the graphics, everything after BF2 was a downgrade. They prioritize action over gameplay now.
@@uziclip2320 2142 was epic as well, based on BF2 engine.
BF2 was revolutionary and definitely deserves S-tier. Its game play was unrivaled for so long.
Dude, you killed me with BC2 in the B tier list. Thats criminal...
BF4. got introduced to it at 8 years old. went 0-22 on my first game, but i had the most fun i've ever had on an fps game.
If I hear the bf3 theme or something close to it play in the teaser for bf2025 I am pre-ordering

Hardline better
Agree
The only downside to 4 is the map design. The vanilla maps are fucking cheeks.
4 was good I think 3 had a better feel and maps tho
Not sure why your videos stopped appearing in my algorithm... just now catching up. Keep up the good work!
BF1942 desert combat mod was truely epic. Playing on mouse and keyboard as a soldier then stitching to hotas joystick jumping into an apache helicopter was amazing. Tank battles in El Alamein were terrific. The golden days...
No kidding. Those mods for Eve of Destruction and Desert Combat and Forgotten Heroes mod literally paved the way for what the people wanted in the series and deserve more credit, plus those games were free, no DLC garbage!
you did so great work and reviews over the years. you are a big part of my journey through that franchise. Thank you.

Hey, i appreciate this! Total noob to the series, ready to check it out. Picked up BF1 on a killer sale, apparently that was a top tier move! 😂
Great tier list. BF3 and BF1 are by far the best titles to date and I do hope they refer back to these when developing future titles!
Battlefield heroes was such a blast, wish they either had kept it and see where it would have gone, or made something similar these days.
its called Fortnite lol
@@RustyX2010 there you go, you can already see it is way ahead of its time.
The Finals came out and it looks like its made by same devs, it has same 3 class system with fun abilities, movement, gun play but has more realistic battlefield touch to it
Im glad you also covered Battlefield Heroes and Play4Free. Big part of my childhood.
Heroes was awesome back in the day except for the microtransactions
Bad Company deserves A tier. What it managed to do at the time, especially on console was revolutionary.
Indeed. The bones of BFBC2, BF3 and BF4 were laid out with this title! I played a ton of it on my PS3 back in the day, i even managed to get half of my group of friends aboard and our clan was born. Great memories! Par for the Course anyone?
Putting OG Bad Company in C tier is wild man
Battlefield Bad Company 2 being ranked on the same level as Battlefield V is blasphemous
Me too!!!
Miss Squad Managment from Bf2 and "Commander"
Having 2142 in the C teir is insulting to me....with Hardline..Jesus. In its time 2142 was really fun and new game/concept for an FPS Mechs, crazy gadgets and Titan mode were insanely fun and the conquest was incredible. I put just as many hours into it as I did BF2 and I still look back on it fondly like I do BF2, BF3 and to a lesser extent BC2. B+ teir for sure.
i loved 2142. 2042 should have been 2143.
Agreed, very underrated title, I enjoyed it a lot.
I personally think bf5 should be A tear instead of B, it has one of the coolest weapon sandboxes of any of the games that i've played.
Close quarters BF3 is still the most fun I’ve had in an FPS by miles. Wish I could go back to those days
The infantry vs armour was pretty much perfect, I never saw a game dominated by a vehicle camper at the edge of the map.
and BF 2142 has by far the best teamplay experience of all BF.
2142 had in game advertisements, which earned a boycott from many
@@green285 ha, well I feel bad for them. Maybe that was an unprecedented move at the time, but if a few ATI billboards were a viable alternative to microtransactions or loads of payed DLC, I'd take the ads any day. I remember the great experiences I had playing, not the ads. Still, that's not to say I condone any of EA's bs though.
2142 in C-tier... I know you're smoking something...
While I’m sure BF1 isn’t historically accurate to a T, it’s a lot more believable and gives you the aesthetic of a WWII game compared to BFVs that was basically a modern shooter with a half ass WWII re-skin
giving Bad Company 2 anything less than S tier is a war crime
Yet he gave BF3 the highest rating, when that game was just a significantly worse version of Bad Company 2 with 80% less environmental destruction. This guy definitely never actually played any of the games before BF3.

BF2 MC is S tier IMO, so ahead of its time on console
The excitement around Battlefield 1 was amazing. Hopefully, DICE and EA can return the franchise back to its roots.
1943 was my first battlefield, it always just felt right. It may have lacked weapon and map diversity, but it made up for that with fantastic balance.
I loved hardline. Super underrated title. BF4 will always be number 1 in my books though
BF3 is what started it all for me, the vibes in this game are just next level cool!
Hardline is so underrated, one of my fav bf's besides bf3 and bf4
Almost fully agree, except for two that should switch places in my opinion, that is BF1 and Bad Company 2.
Bad Company 2 was insanely good, and I'm talking about both the campaign here as well as the multiplayer. It was revolutionary at the time, almost like BF3 a couple years later, so S tier for sure. BF1 on the other hand wasn't (yes graphics were amazing, but a game hardly is defined only by graphics!). Moreover, I'd argue that BF1942 should be at least B Tier, so many memories :))
Cheers!
What most people say about BF3 is how I feel about BF2. Was at the time it was released in many ways what BF3 was to its particular time of release, except much earlier and a more hardcore experience. I love that game to bits.
Probably the first tier list I’ve seen that I 100% agree with.
I recall my little brother pre-ordering the PC version of Battlefield 1943. He never saw his $15 ever again. And as a 9-year-old, that was a big deal
