Absolutely the most concise and direct description I've seen as to how to accomplish this. I love my desktop but it's giving me problems so I was considering buying another one until I saw this video and realized how easy it is to use my laptop and get the same big screen that I prefer! Thank you so much!!!!
I TOTALLY agree with everyone over here in the comments. Videos like yours are hard to come by.. in fact nearly impossible!! So concise and jam packed with exactly the information we need. This is your second video I have watched & am totally impressed. I never comment but had to to show my appreciation. Thank you for the no BS video. Please keep up the awesome work.
I’m planning on Laptop gaming and I wanna get a Monitor for it, I just came from watching the How to connect monitor to laptop! Very useful videos thanks a lot
thank you, i was trying to figure out why, when i closed my laptop lid, that the big screen would have a screen tearing effect in the middle of the screen, it was so annoying, the only thing that was fixing it before this video, was leaving my laptop partially open, but lowered enough that it wasnt distracting. but now i can close the lid without screen tearing because you showed me the multiple screen display options. i didnt know about it since this is my first time using multiple displays.
I watched the video on connecting the monitor to the laptop, and was wondering about this. I think I kew the answer but it's good to get a confirmation. Thanks for this...now to actually buy the monitor.
Hmmm. Mine was set to "Hibernate" for battery & plugged in. I've never had a problem with my monitors working when the laptop's lid was closed - until today. The monitor screens literally went black as I sat in the chair at the desk. No amount of key-tapping would make the monitors come alive. Thank you!
Don't close the lid with an Alienware or any other laptop that has holes for heat exhausting on the keyboard side of the chassis, otherwise the heat will blow onto your screen and wreck your laptop's screen.
Don't forget, on other laptops, you have to make sure the "lid close" functionality isn't set to sleep/hibernate/shut down, "...or you're gonna' have a bad time." Just saiyan... :P ;)
Dropped some drink on MSI as soon as the warranty expired. New keyboard with install (plastic riveting) is ~$400. I bought a 34” wsqhd monitor for that price and love my laptop more as a desktop! Thanks for the info on setting this up
Thank you Filip! This is so helpful. Does the wireless keyboard connect to the monitor through the laptop as well? And do you think the wireless keyboard/mouse will still work on the monitor if the laptop is open? I'm getting my monitor next week, so thank you for the awesome videos!
It's no great sophisticated explanation... Nor is this the only video of its kind. But... it's short and to the point. You point out the "To-Do" list, and the rest happens by itself. Thank you.
the problem starts where you finish the video. We cant wake up the laptop unless open the lid. So allways I must open lid first when I want to open laptop.... is tehere a solution for this?
I can't find a monitor with usb ports so I can hook up a separate keyboard. I'm really not sure how to set that up? I just want to use my laptop system with an external monitor and keyboard
Yo, Phillip J, An excellent video which solved my problem! Now I can watch Premiere League soccer on the big screen without the nagging laptop screen in the background. Thanks so much!
2:30 what happens if you don't change anything for this part? Or if you chose shut down, cause you said towards the end you should remember to shut the laptop down.

Thank you for this. Though what worries me is the heat from the keyboard might damage the lcd if fully closed.

Don't ask stupid questions
Buy a docking station like dell. I'm using it right now. It is very convenient if you are using this kind of setup
