Was watching this and then got the notification from Apple Podcasts that a new Land of the Rising Fun episode released! Also 8:08, THE GUA GUA STICK!!! 😂
Among all the disappointments I've had with this "microland", the "sweet ever after" dessert was the biggest one to me. Tbf, I was already setting myself up for disappointment by expecting it to be some warm crispy tart with a little filling inside like a dessert variant of the pies in Arendelle Banquet Hall (which I actually liked). I also think for the ride, in addition to budget constraints, there really was not much space to work with. It's stuck up right next to the service road that goes over the entrance to Fantasy Springs. Still, they could have found a bunch of ways to expand the ride beyond that road. Maybe a small drop? Pirates in Anaheim goes under the railroad that way. Then again, there's still important backstage areas to consider.
I honestly think that all they really needed to pull it all off with only muted complaints despite it being a mini-miniland was to add an "I've Got a Dream" scene at the Snuggly Duckling to the ride. Just sit Rapunzel down between Hook Hand on the piano and Big Nose while they do most of the singing. Put Flynn on a hook in the back with his unimpressed look gazing back and forth. Put in some simple animatronics that just go up and down offset from each other to the beat along with Shorty spinning around the scene with the bow and arrow, and then your choice of the "dream" gags in the background (some of which are already on the ride at the end anyway). It's pretty easy to visualize and while it'd be a bit of a blowout in terms of the sheer number of animatronics, really you could get away with only Rapunzel, Hook Hand, and Big Nose needing to be particularly expressive. The rest could be on a fairly simple cycle. I'm not an expert on how expensive these things get or how much real estate they had to work with, but I think it's safe to say that Rapunzel's Lantern Festival is currently on the line of doing the bare minimum and is carried by Rapunzel's tower and the Lantern Festival scene. Just one more centerpiece scene and it satisfies as a full ride experience even if would still be a little short.
One more scene would help a lot yea, or maybe they should have just done the lantern scene and tried to communicate that so you don’t feel short changed? Right now it rushed through these tiny scenes that make you feel like there should be more.
I’m sorry to hear that you weren’t super impressed with this attraction. I can understand as so much of the ride takes place outside, but at the same time, I honestly prefer a ride with physical sets than a largely screen ride like Peter Pan mostly is.
Don’t get me wrong I ADORE that lantern scene it makes me well up every time. The outdoor section is gorgeous too. It’s just a shame it couldn’t have been longer
Do you know if they do anything with the animatronic in bad weather? Would be interesting to find out how they deal with the high heat/direct sunlight, through to heavy wind/rain. Would guess the ride itself closes in rain?
Ride has still been operating in the rain and sun. I’m really surprised there doesn’t seem to be a B mode, like a curtain or something so they can get away with it when Rapunzel stops working. I’m guessing they have a replacement Rapunzels that they can quickly swap out, which is itself pretty wild.
Another thing that bothers me with the tangled ride is that Rapunzel’s voice actor for the movie is different from the ride. I know foreign tourists would not notice that but for someone who loves the Japanese soundtracks so much, it really is weird hearing Rapunzel with a different voice. They could’ve used the official movie soundtrack just like what they did with believe sea of dreams.
Honestly, hot take. But I think the Tangled Ride (Despite it flaws) might be ever so better than Princesses Bayou ride (By a mile). Wild opinion, I know, sue me.
That is due to the Repunzel boat ride is a tunnel of love. It is deliberately designed to be calm. The Tiana bayou ride is a bizarre reskin of Splash Mountain, and does not fit the ride layout. It features calm scenes and boring music, but on a thrill ride structure. The entire thing makes so sense whatsoever. Especially, at the final drop.

Yea the dessert is a sad little thing isn’t it..
They’d have more space if they didn’t force a hotel in there that doesn’t fit with the theme at all!

I think the Tangled Ride could’ve been a retelling of the story of tangled like they did with Beauty and the Beast!
Caramel muffin supremacy club 👏 honestly low key the best food item in FS.
You get it!!

I’ve yet to see Peter Pan and tangled movies
