8 Bit Theme Park Japan
Япония
Добавлен 31 янв 2022
Tips, Trips and Trivia from Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
8 Bit Theme Park started as a project to recreate classic theme park rides in a early video game style, eventually the channel evolved as I wanted to be able to talk about theme parks where I live in Tokyo, Japan. I felt that there wasn't much in-depth discussion of the Tokyo theme parks like there was for American or European parks. So I started by making in-depth videos about Tokyo Disney Resort, and hope to shed some light on the lesser-known parks in the area, too.

Tokyo Disney Fans Are FURIOUS About These 2025 Updates!
Tokyo Disney Resort's 2025 plans at Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea have sparked unprecedented controversy among local fans. As a resident sharing Tokyo Disney tips for visitors, I've witnessed how these Tokyo Disneyland updates have created the biggest backlash in recent memory. Now that the Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs expansion that ballooned to a ridiculous $3 billion budget is finally open, local guests were optimistic for the future of the resort, but local fans' belief in OLC to run the Tokyo Disney parks is at an all time low.

We are going there in April this year
There is one more question I want to ask: Do you have a favorite character in Tokyo Disney or any other Disney resort that you enjoy meeting? I love Mickey, Donald, Stitch, Buzz, and Ariel
Stitch is always super fun! Baymax is my favorite greeting ever, he’s so much fun and looks identical to how he is in the films. (⚫︎ー⚫︎)
@@8bitthemepark Hey now that you mention Baymax they should bring a meet and greet of him to Tokyo, especially with how popular his ride is there! Also I hope they bring out Buzz for meet and greets especially in Tomorrowland so he can have his place in Tokyo Disneyland for many years though I doubt that'll happen cause with Wreck it Ralph coming in 2026, both him and Vanellope might meet guests
If you had to pick a favorite ride in the USA parks, would it be the haunted mansion? I've done Mystic in HK Disney, but I've never tried out the classic haunted in Tokyo
Excellent question… I haven’t been to the American Disney parks in over a decade so they’ve changed a bit, but if I were to return the first thing I’d want to ride would be the Carousel of Progress. But for WDW I’d probably say Tower of Terror and for Cali I’d go with Radiator Springs Racers, just such a brilliant amalgamation of everything Disney have achieved to this point.
Happy new year Jordan! What are your hopes and dreams of 2025?
Happy New Year friend!! Thanks for all the support ❤️ It’s a great question! I want to continue to grow this channel, find new ways to spread my love of the Tokyo parks online whilst also finding balance with my family and personal life. This year was about pushing the channel as hard as I could, but now I need to try harder to find balance.
We hope to go to both Tokyo parks in either April or May of 2025. It be our first time at both parks. We been to both Hong Kong and Shanghai Disneyland. We enjoyed both of those parks. What are the daytime and nighttime street parades in April and May? At Disneyland? Then what about Disneysea?
Ik im super late, but just went here with my family. I got a lot to say. First The entrance is crazy. Arrived here decently early and ended up waiting almost an hour to just enter the park. I wish this was the worst part of the day. Second With fantasy springs open I was excited to see the new lands and ride the new stuff, but when we tried all tickets were sold out immediately 10 minutes after park opening. Remember you can’t book unless you’re in the park, and it took almost an hour to enter. More on Fantasy Springs later Third Design The design of this park is horrendous. Like laughably horrendous. Every other Disney park has a large plaza where crowds split to the themed areas. This one? Choose quickly left or right, as hundreds and hundreds of people shove you. Then the pair layout itself is even worse. To get to the entrance to leave you have to go through the mysterious island again, where the most people are, and once again takes forever to go anywhere. Fourth Capacity. I wish Disney managed how many guests they let enter each day. If they did, maybe all the attractions wouldn’t have hour plus weights. It’s understandable like any theme park, but this is crazy. Every single area was packed. And since there are so few rides here, the ones worth your time(exception of sindbad) all had 2+ hour weights Fifth Fantasy Springs This ruined the last straw I had when visiting as we tried all day to get tickets. The options popped up, we selected them, but as we payed, they disappeared. Later on around 4, we got lucky and snagged tickets. We rode Peter Pan, which was fine Ig for a new ride, had a bit too many screens. Then we ate since they don’t let you SIT DOWN indoors(it was forty degrees the entire day) unless you pay for food. After that we thought a good last ride would be frozen, and was happy to wai lt only 50 minutes. Only to find out that we needed yet another special pass for the STANDBY Queue. So they limited the entry of the area, only to limit the rides too?!?! So only people who paid for both could enjoy this new land Sixth Almost done The rides were somewhat underwhelming. Tower of Terror was unbelievably short and sinbads, contrary to what everybody said, was a snooze fest. I could literally see the rooms we were in along with the animatronics moving with wires and levers. Language barrier didn’t help either. Other rides like Indiana Jones’s were fine, no complaints. Now that I vented a bit I just want to say I’m not trying to hate, I just had a horrible experience here, and as a theme park enthusiast my whole I’ve looked forward to this park, and it went from future number 1 to least favorite ever. The only thing I have to say good was the employees here. The people as well were all amazing. The only reason I walked out with a smile. If you made it this far, thanks for letting me vent on you.
Another thing that the Tokyo Disney Resort does worse than Other Disney Parks is removing the Holiday Overhaul in Its a Small World Permanently which makes me miss it just like missing Kevin who was sadly expelled from High School!
Completely with you on the park entertainment! Was so disappointed that the live band and singers in big band beat was removed and changed to pre recorded tracks. Can definitely feel the cost cutting in disneyland and disneysea. Missing the good old shows like legend of mythica and fantasmic too. Not a fan of all the floats being LCD screens now.
This opinion may sound weird but I have to bring it up: There should've been a Hercules rock detail in the land since he's a fantasy character and there is zero representation of him in Disneylands
And also Quasimodo since Hunchback is your fave even tho I haven't given it a watch yet sorry
I suppose OCL isn't bringing back Easter events? Missed those times where there were whacky eggs with bunny ears and arms and legs and a super addictive parade :(
I was there yesterday. Now it makes sense. I was a bit disappointed with the entertainment and night fireworks because, I've been keeping up with Disneysea and I've always said that their entertainment was top notch and blew WDW out the water.
I think the hotel looks amazing, what is bad about it exactly? Since from videos I have seen, it looks so pretty and dream-like. Great for photos and they had some princess dresses on display.
Yeah I was also confused about those bold statements and he gave no explanation 🤔
Do we have to pay for priority pass? How do we access it? Thank you 🙏
Right now priority pass is free and available in the Tokyo Disney Resort App as soon as you scan your ticket to get in the park
@ thanks so much, I heard that we have to pay 20 dollars or so to avoid line. In our US trip we had genie pass which allowed us to go buy we paid extra on top of normal ticket but that included a lot of rides.
I'm a huge TDR especially TDS fan from Indonesia I visited TDS last may for a day trip and was disappointed if i compared it with my long stay in 2016. I didn't enjoy the atmosphere because I was on my phone looking at the schedule and queues (miss the old fast pass system). I think Fantasmic was wayyy better than Believe! Sea of dreams. I miss Ariel's grotto and pre-pandemic Big Band Beat. Even though I didn't enter it, I was hoping they made a meet and greet area in Fantasy Springs. Watching your video about the hotel also disappoints me🥲 I'm hoping they're planning something BIG for TDS 25th anniversary in 2026 knowing they lost to USJ for top attendance
The staring at the phone for most of your day thing is a real issue. It’s hard to argue with the convenience of seeing all the park info and booking passes and whatnot right there in your phone, but it does take away from that moment you enter the park and see the castle when you have to get all your passes immediately. I miss Ariel too, agree that Fantasmic was much better than Believe and Big Band Beat was my favorite Disney theater show of all time so I’m with you buddy!!
You forgot to mention there will be a new show called Dream Take Flight, after 5 years since pandemic, at Hanger Stage in Lost River Delta. Wish the Little Mermaid show will come back.
That news dropped after I recorded the video, but that’s correct! Yeah it’s hard to get excited about a show that only 1% of guests, most of which getting there early and paying extra, will be able to see. A constantly running Mermaid Lagoon Theater show would do a lot more for the majority of guests but I think we’re a way off that
@@8bitthemepark Speaking of which, do you know why they cancel the Mermaid Show and doesn't bring any show since? Compare to Disneyland, there are fewer show in the DisneySea these day.
I'd love to see the Little Mermaid show re-opens, it was such a great show.
And I dont understand why they dont making a new main show from TDS since they end the show the Legend of Mythica with NO REASON 🤦🏻♂️
Absolutely agree ... I miss LoM so much ...
I’m a huge fan of TDR from Korea. I’ve been there since 2011 and completely agree with you. I can see their desperation to reduce the budget. Harmony of Colour was already a huge disappointment, and the Fantasy Springs was just a joke-there were nothing but rides! I genuinely miss the days when they changed the seasonal parades every year. Beside, I kinda getting tired of enjoying the show due to many otaku people.
It really does feel like the parks have forgotten what they are. If you look back at entertainment from the past the difference is shocking! And you’re totally right, at the very least I wish they’d run the seasonal parades twice a day to disperse crowds a bit!
OMG, is the re-theming of St. Miguel Cantina permanent?? The Duffy theme does not fit in Lost River Delta... Really don't want to see OLC follow the steps of Shanghai Disneyland regarding their Adventure Isle...
I know what you mean! Don’t worry, this one is temporary. January 15th to March 31st 👍
My upcoming trip is booked for January because of the pal-palooza, missed it last year but came for the Minnie Besties Bash in 2023. Not unhappy that it is Vanellope but was hoping for one of the Mickey and Friends characters (probably like most locals) but oh well. :) Would say that the seasonal events are a major contributing decider for visitors, if free to pick any time. As you mentioned the normal stuff is always there, so can be experienced any time of the year. Helps in planning if can just narrow it down to what unique event is on. For example my preference for WDW is also start of the year just for the Festival of the Arts. And I keep saying to myself it has nothing to do with the extreme heat in the summer....
Ooh that’s so soon how exciting!!! That’s interesting that the events do matter a lot to you and you plan your trip around them. I usually find that most people are more interested in avoiding crowds than hitting events but I could be wrong. My mum loves coming for Halloween and Christmas 🎄
@@8bitthemepark Oh I agree, crowds can play into it a lot. Definitely no go on a weekend/public holiday. Or the opening day of something. Guess it all comes down to a balancing act to get all the right levels and what the travel party wants out of it, to maximize enjoyment. As a solo traveler is easier to just slip to the side into some space if things get too hectic.
I’m not sure why and I don’t mean it in bad way. I just really can’t understand why Japanese people are that into lining up and limited stuff parade or merchandise 😮
There’s a cultural aspect for sure. But Tokyo Disney set a standard for excellent entertainment in the early 2000’s that fans still hang onto. Hopefully they’ll find a way to make locals and tourists happy!
I don't really know, but I guess it's more of an East Asian thing? I personally wasn't like that before but after getting into KPOP and all the things it comes with, I've been transformed from someone that wouldn't even want to waste 20 minutes in a line to someone that would be willing to line up the night before a ticket or merch sale hahaha. I've carried that trait since then that I went to the Tokyo parks at 5 AM just to line up early for the 1st day of the Halloween celebration at TDL and around 6 AM at TDS just to get into Fantasy Springs. I even saved my spot for parades and shows around 1-2 hours before it even started. I think people are just passionate enough that they're willing to make that extra effort; lining up for merch, rides, popcorn, etc. As long as they're fine with it and think it's worth it, then there's nothing really inherently wrong with it.
@@8bitthemepark hope so, we will visit tdr next week and are shocked how many parades and shows tdl have in one day and tds only have two
@ yeah it’s bizarre that TDL has so much but DisneySea has so little, when TDL has so many more rides too
Great video! I have to say that as much as I love parades, I’m not sure if I would want to wait several hours waiting for one if I was taking a trip to Tokyo Disneyland and only being there for a few days. I could see why locals would want to, but having to be there several hours before the park even opens just to get a spot and then wait several more for the parade to begin would take up so much time.
Thanks friend! You’re absolutely right. For locals that’s the one thing they’re paying for with their park ticket so many of them are happy to dedicate the whole day to that, if you’re visiting from abroad the normal entertainment will be more than enough, so go and enjoy the rest of the park!
I was just visiting both parks last week, and can tell you that arriving at front gate 2~3 hours before opening is a must. Not for the parades but for everything, otherwise you might not even have the chance to get DPA of popular rides and Entry Request of those theater show.
While this question may not be related to the video, I have one question: What is your all time favorite Disney movie? And what was your favorite Disney Tokyo Visit out of all your visits since early 2019?
I love these questions! Favorite Disney movie… tricky to pick just one but I adore Hunchback of Notre Dame. If we’re going Pixar it’s Monsters Inc Favorite TDR visit since I moved here in 2019… Maybe the first one. I arrived, got the keys to my apartment, went to my new job and then after work took a train to TDR, bought my annual pass and went to Tokyo Disneyland and thought to myself ‘this is mine now’. Such a special feeling (and why I miss my annual pass so much!!!) Thanks for watching, commenting and for the sweet questions!!
the Ralph ride is for 2026
Correct. ‘Fiscal year 2026 or later’ according to the press release, I misspoke, apologies!
My thoughts of Donald coming back is very very exciting
Don’t you mean wreck it Ralph opening in 2026 not 2028?
Right you are! My mistake. Although the announcement was ‘Fiscal year 2026 or later’ so they’re giving themselves some leeway there
I feel like the vanellope event should’ve been next year rather than this year but I’m excited for anything new!
Nice to see u back in uploading! I also heard that Tokyo Disney sea is bringing a new show to the empty hangar stage called dreams take flight and beyond! Nice to see they’re caring about entertainment
I dunno… One show in a theater that you have to get there super early and pay extra to see…. It’s hard to get excited. Then again it’ll be nice to finally see something happening in that theater!
@ now I hope they bring back something in mermaid lagoon theater so crowds can be spread out
you didn't mention that Big Band Beat is closing.... why not?
It wasn’t announced until after I recorded this video! I’m glad to see the Covid version go, hopefully the new show will have actual singers again!
@@8bitthemepark its not coming back after sept 2025, gone for good. do u know what will be replacing it?
That’s right! I’d assume something with a similar broadway jazz feel, on a smaller scale than Big Band Beat but a larger scale than Special Treat. Crossing my fingers that we get live music/singers back and the show stays in English but who knows
@@IkePaz Tokyo Disney has already posted the new show
@@이마크-r8e What show I only know the one they are planing for hanger stage
After listening to the podcast for so long, it feels weird not to hear Alex and the not-great audio quality.
Hahaha we really need to upgrade the audio 😂 Glad you still listen regardless! We have big plans to upgrade the pod next year and hopefully get into doing some video too, so then you can get your Alex fix on RUclips too 🤞
I want that ‘gwah gwah’ stick. I was there in Dec 23, how did I miss it 😢
It’s only for the Donald event, and they sold out pretty quickly too. Hoping there will be more this year though!
What! They did that pirates thing in Disney sea that’s so cool wish they still did events like that!
Ooh that’s just the tip of the iceberg, search ‘Legend of Mythica’ and have your mind blown.
Stop
No frozen ok 😡😡😡😡
Chandu boy scores 5 points at a time😂😂
"-this is the super nerdy Tokyo Disney RUclips channel" is all I needed to hear to subscribe.
The price comparison to hotel in disney world , fantasy spring is still way better . Most people stay in their room to rest and thats the most important place ro have the magic n decor which FS nailed it.
That may be true. But still, Miracosta offers so much more for a lower price and it’s in the same park. Everyone has their preference but I can recommend the Miracosta whole heartedly whereas the Fantasy Springs hotel has a LOT of caveats.
The loud music in the background is the most annoying I have ever heard! Terrible
I know right? I have an updated version where I fixed the music :) ruclips.net/video/rq-J-x_WAwE/видео.html
Loved the video can’t wait for my trip next year! I was trying to get the pdf but haven’t seem to been able to receive it any chance you could help me out?
Thanks for the kind words! The email link is done manually, sorry for the wait. The link will be with you soon!
40:10 You're right the Gondolas very much hold special memories for me as it was my first ever ride on any Disney park. The biggest highlight for me was surprisingly not the extremely beautiful Venice theming nor was it the breathtaking view of Mt Prometheus, but rather the lovely staff members who went above and beyond to make this little boat ride even more special. They were so kind and helpful throughout the entire ride; they interacted and entertained the guests while we were in queue, the boatman sang a little song that actually led up to the big Mt Prometheus reveal, I don't think most of that ride would be memorable if it weren't for the incredible staff. Props to them
Excellent point! They’re the best aren’t they 😍
Toy Story looks like Coney Island a bit why not a Coney Island style pier with Wooden Cyclone style ride?
I’d love for us to get another thrill ride in DisneySea. And honestly for all of California Adventure’s flaws, something like California Screamin’ rolling around the back of Toy Story Mania would be really fun!
This store is literally always empty and nobody ever buys anything. They dont even sell splash merch anymore and critter country specific merch is scarce, so theres no reason to shop here over anywhere else in the park. Its at an awkward spot and it makes sense to close it when that labor could be put elsewhere. They closed Splashdown photos and the saloon was closed for a while too. I dont think this store closing has anything to do with Splash itself. That being said, they could have just kept making splash merch and im sure people would flock to this store.
Will it become hyperspace mountain in 2027?
Regular stores across Japan also close dead on time and start to shove out all the guests about 15 minutes before closing time and the famous melody chime playing announcing the closing. It's especially bizarre here in Osaka in the shopping street full of people and the stores full of customers that they are interrupted mid way and are shown the door. Then after 8pm you walk the streets full of potential buyers but all the shops are closed. I especially hate it when rushing to buy something after you've just finished your work you basically have like 1-2 hours to run around the shopping street in a hurry before they kick you out. Don't need customer's money, huh.. Also you know the parks can be better because you've been to other parks in other countries. Most Japanese never traveled outside Japan and can't imagine how things are out there, so Tokyo Disney Resort is the only (the standard) one, they will ever know. There's basically no reference level to anything.
They new to put a new food booth location in its place
FOOD BOOTH
Disney needs to fix the yeti to prove good faith to OLC.
We need a video-update of which rides to take with the Standby pass and premier pass thing, its confusing and i dont know which of them are better to reserve first
What do you mean by western river expedition?
i think they run out of budget so the hotel decos arent finish yet so they need customers to fund the continuation of finishing the hotel LOL
Just bring back the 8 bit disney ride povs, your most popular video is your first!
I really appreciate that you like those videos, I love them too! But they are an absolutely ludicrous amount of work compared to my other videos, and they’re not as popular. Yes, my most viewed video ever is the Pinocchio one, but it’s also much older than my other videos, so it’s had more time to get views. I simply get much more enjoyment and success out of making Tokyo Disney videos so that’s what I’m going to be doing for the foreseeable future, sorry!
